Hello - 67 and Just Starting

Hi Sharyn, After waiting expectantly for 3 weeks for my 1st meeting with the surgeon, the doc's office called yesterday to say the Doc had been called out of the office for Monday, so they postponed my appt. for 2 more weeks. I have been feeling bummed, but woke up this morning and decided to turn this additional wait into a positive by working on exercising more regularly and trying to eat slower and chew more. Practice for the future Good luck and keep posting. Ellen
  2. I have just started this process and I am retired, so my situation is different from yours, but here goes. I would not make a major announcement over the PA or in a staff meeting, but I would tell the people I work closest with. They are going to wonder why you are gone and will see the results soon anyway. No need to worry them that you have some terrible disease that is causing you to lose so much weight. Just my $0.02 worth :-) Ellen
  3. Reading the other forums I see that quite a few people report being VERY hungry during the post-op liquid and soft food periods. Is this a common issue? Is it real "body" hunger or is it "brain" hunger (as in "I know I have had enough to ? I am also interested in hearing if the problem with gas pain post-surgery is wide spread, how severe it is, and how long it lasts. I've not been banded yet and these issues will not scare me off. I just want to be sure I have all the infirmation and facts. Thanks for your input, Ellen
  4. Thank you. I am adding these questions to my list for my 1st visit with the surgeon on April 11. BTW - Congrats on your weight loss so far. I can't wait to be there too. Ellen

  6. Good For you! I have not been banded yet and I can hardly wait to be able to buy regular sized cloths for the first time in over 10 years. Enjoy your success! Ellen

  10. After researching Lap-Band for over a year and attending a couple of semimnars, I have made the decision to get it done! I will be getting banded at the U of WA Medical Center. My first appointment with the surgeon is scheduled for 4/11/11. I would love to hear from other women in their 60's who have recently been banded. What has your experience been? Any helpful hints or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!!!
  11. Thanks Carol. I'm looking forward to my back and knees not hurting. It will be nice to be able to walk up hill without huffing and puffing, too. Comngrats on your 100 lb weight loss. That is amazing in less than a year!
  12. Thanks, Terri. How are you getting along after 1 1/2 months?
