  1. I had my first fill in june. He tried 3 cc and it was way too tight so he pulled back .2 so I am at 2.8 cc. I have awesome restriction. So awesome that at my last visit I lost 16 lbs and didn't need any adjustments. I average 800-1200 cals a day. I am really hoping this lasts. I was under the assumption it would take many fills to get in the green zone. Good luck!
  2. We made a lasange with zucchini strips instead of noodle. I used ground turkey for meat and loaded it up with squash, mushrooms, onions, tomatos. It was awesome.
  3. My doctor provided the Protein shakes. They were low carb and I was allowed 4 a day and all the calorie free drinks I wanted. I got creative with the shakes, I used SF syrups to change them up a little. I love coffee and couldnt have cream so I made a "frappichino" by using the chocolate powder with 1 starbucks via (instant coffee) I would add pumpkin sf syrup to my vanilla shake with a dash of cinnamon. you can even use crystal light to flavor the shakes. Just think of what you like and blend with ice and Water. 2 weeks of liquds, I had to get creative. Good luck! P.S. It was a hard 2 weeks, I suggest staying out of the grocery stores. I went to our local one to grab a few things for my family and the smell of rotisserie chicken about killed me. lol And my family kindly skipped ordering pizza those 2 weeks.

  6. I love coffee and while on my pre op protien shake phase I came up with using my chocolate shake mix, water, 1 starbucks Via instant coffee, 2 spenda. Blended with ice. Its my lapband frappichino! I love it and still have it for breakfast most mornings. I use chike protien powder, which was reccomened by my dr. I loved the taste of the chocolate and banana powders. 190 cals, 28 grams of protien.
  7. I am very excited to finally have a fill. 2.8 cc. sipping clear liquids for 2 days, then full liquids for 2.

    Overcoming temptations

My family made a deal not to order pizza while I was on my pre op liquid diet. Its difficult enough, even with out the food right in front of you. Now that I can eat real food, them having pizza doesn't bother me.

    Picking a goal weight

I have a lot of weight to lose. So, to make it seem more obtainable I'm taking on 50 lbs at a time. If I think of the total amount I need to lose to get at a "goal weight"I get very overwhelmed. Good luck on your journey!

    Extreme PMS/cramping AFTER band?

I thought I was going to die when I got my period after I was banded (which was a week post op). It was awful, painful and lasted 7 days! I am just gonna wait and see hat happens with my next one. The nurses I worked with seemed to think it was related t the surgery and was a 1 time thing. Hope it gets better for you!

    Bandster Hell anyone?

Yes! And I'm still on liquids and feel like I'm starving. Ill be at 2 weeks on Friday. I've started adding my preop protien shakes and it has been helping with the hunger.
  16. Hey Pam, how are you feeling?

    My Mother and WLS

I would stop discussing it with her. Find optimistic people to talk with. Everyone has an opinion and it seems the ones that are uneducated about the band are the ones with the negative comments. If it were as easy as "just diet and exercise" this forum would not exist. Good Luck with your journey! I'm only 9 days post op, but I am thrilled that I did this for me and the future, healthier me!
  18. Happy Easter! Im gonna enjoy a nice Easter protien shake!

  19. CONGRATS That is so exciting! Keep up the good work!
  20. People want to tell you horror stories about everything. When my husband bought a motorcycle, everyone wanted to tell me stories about accidents. When I made the decison to have lap band I told very few people. I didn't want to hear anything negative. I was well educated and made the best decision for me. I would avoid the cnversation with those people altogether. Talk about it with people that are as excited as you are!

Protein - how much is enough?

Where do you get the liquid protien shots? I'm now on full liquids and staring to feel hungry. I'm 1 week post op and wondering if I should add the protien shakesi had during my pre op diet to hlp with the hunger.

    Finally Told Someone!!!

Why don't you start the conversation with your husband like this. "Have you ever heard of the lapband surgery?" And just have a conversation about it. It might ease you into telling him more.
  25. Good Luck! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
