Finally figured it out!

Hi MaryKay, I just had my surgery May6th 2011 and just started exercising last week. This is what has worked for me....I get up early and walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes and I do it again at night when I get home for work. It hurts and I have no endurance yet but it is my priority everyday regardless. I don't focus on the scale just how I feel, what goes in my mouth and that I keep moving some everyday. This new lifestyle is so different for me but I will tell as much as my legs hurt ....I feel better everyday and that is what keeps me going. I hope you can just pick one thing to get you RESTARTED and I am sure you will get excited again about getting healthy. Good luck to you.....HANG IN THERE!

Hi I had my surgery on may 5th and I had some back pain too. I put many pillows around my back and I slept on my left side leaning on them. It was comfy and the pillows helped me stay there all night. Still a little sore in the morning but I am sleeping much better. Good luck to you

Congratulations it seems that your doing great. I had mine on May 8th and I feel great too. I am so happy so far that I decided to have the surgery and I am looking forward to being all healed. Keep up the good work!

This was excellent advice-----everyone will have to watchout for these risks after surgery.

Congrats and I hope you are doing well. I did not have any gas pains until today and I am 6 days post op----really weird huh? I feel it rolling around and having no luck getting it gone. I went back to work yesterday and even though I was moving a little slow I was so happy to get out of the house. Keep moving is my best advice. Take care

I am scheduled tomorrow and getting cold feet!
Tobeme replied to nan4847's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi i am on day 5 postop and I feel great! Went in on May 6th 2011 at 9:00 am in by 12:;00 back to my room by 2:30. I was very groggy and basically wanted to sleep which I did for 2 hours. When I woke up the nurse asked if I was ready to walk I said yes maam lets go. Up and down the hall I went slowly but it helped soooo much. I stayed the night to be woken every 2 hours to check blood pressue and temp. Left for home by 900 am. At home I did take a pain pill because I walked around walgreens too long and felt a little sore. I Watched a few movies and getting up every few hours to use the potty. I slept in my recliner that night and did not sleep well. I went into my bed the next night and slept on my left side very well and felt great the next day. I did not really need much for pain and I stayed home from work until today (Wednesday) 4th day post op. I felt tired and a little sore moving around the building but I was so ready to get out of the house and back to work. I am on a strictly liquid diet which is fine not too bad yet. I have lost 10 pounds (water weight) but who cares its gone. This really was not too bad....I wont compare it to my c-section (no comparison) but I will compare it to my gallbladder removal. very similar. Good luck ---don't let a little cold feet stand in your way of enjoying a successful weightloss! -
This is exactly the reason I am not sharing with people that I work with anytime soon. I know there are many that care about me but there are always those that can't keep their foot out of their mouths. This made me laugh so hard and I am still sore from surgery----good one! Keep up the good work!

Ebusa, Good luck with your surgery and your recovery. I had my surgery friday May 6th 2011 and it has been such a great recovery. I am feeling great today and I believe I am ready to return to work tomorrow. I was able to sleep in my bed even on my right side. Tried my left side.....no no no not yet. Congratulations on you pre-band weight loss it is terrific. I experienced the emotional thing before surgery but I let myself go through it ----I needed too. Make sure you walk around a lot the second you wake up in the hospital get out of that bed I promise it makes all the difference 4 days post op. Take care

I wanted to include one extra thought: I started to see a therapist two months before I had my surgery to work on my food addictions. I too use food as comfort and I am now working on why I have been doing this and what I can do instead. I just had my surgery on May 6th 2011 and I feel great and I have been able to use some of the tools I learned in therapy to help me through this week of recovery. Good luck on your journey.....I am thrilled with how quickly I am recovering and you will be too. Paula
