My life changing year
creativeteach replied to SParkle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations to your successful year. I'm waiting for my surgery date to approach. It is April 18th but I know the time will fly. Everyday I am learning something new from this website. But, the success stories like yours really motivate me! -
I haven't been sleeved yet, but I would like to attend. I actually only live about 5 miles from there. Thanks.

As I read different posts on telling people about upcoming sleeve surgeries, it brings to mind my own situation. I have a friend of 13 years of on and off dating. We are presently dating again. I have dropped hints about having the sleeve down but he constantly changes the subject. When I started the process and had my ultrasound the technician found a mass on my liver which will be coming out at the same time I have my sleeve done. My friend knows I will be having surgery to remove the liver mass but he is just not listening when I talk about having the sleeve. Do I continue to let him think I am only having the mass removed or do I make him understand the process of the sleeve? When it come down to it, I am doing this for me and only me. But, I feel I need him to realize what I am doing. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Well wishes being sent your way! Please keep us posted on how you are doing. -
I am so excited....I received my surgery date this afternoon. My date isn't until April 18th, but I am just glad I have a light at the end of my tunnel. I know the time will go by fast as the time between now and then is so busy at school (I teach first grade!). I will be able to get through all the necessary things at school before I take time off.

I am so tired of waiting. I had my 3 appointments over a month ago. I called this morning to check on my paper work.. I was informed that it is sitting on the surgeon's desk for final approval. When I asked for a possible time frame for surgery, the office manager informed me that I'm now looking at beginning of April. It is so frustrating as I was told end of February. I guess I just need to keep my chin up and hope that I have a date within a week of so.

Sleeved Nov 16 - Readmitted to hospital 20 days later
creativeteach replied to FlyGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry to hear about your complications. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Over a year ago, I experienced several blood clots after a simple knee arthroscopic surgery. I was also admitted to the hospital. They put me on oral as well as injection blood thinners. I have been off all blood thinners. My surgery is scheduled for March so I am concerned about blood clots again, but my surgeon is going to put me on medication prior to surgery as a precaution. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted during your recovery. -

Congratulations on getting your date! I have a question for you.....I am also going to Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. I had my appointments with the surgeon, psych eval and internal med dr.....how long after your appointments did you receive you surgery date? Did you have to actually call them or did they call you? I am anxiously waiting for my date. -
Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.
creativeteach replied to Tiffykins's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I would be a week behind everyone but I would like to be held accountable for getting my exercise in. I'm pre-surgery but I need to get into a routine now. Congrats to all that fulfilled their commitment with week. -

I am a first grade teacher that is going to be sleeved in January. I need to have my lesson plans prepared for my substitute teacher. How long is the average recovery? Typically, how long does a doctor keep you off of work?
