So. It's been 5 weeks since surgery. I know I've lost lots of weight ( 49lbs to be exact). But I wasn't sure of how much pants wise. I've been dreading going because I really wanted to be out of the 20's for pants but wasn't sure if that could happen. You see, I gave up non stretchy pants long ago and went into xl ( mostly xxl) yoga type pants. I did have 1 pair of 24/26 jeans with a bit of stretch in them. I was so afraid I'd be dissapointed with my success so far and I really didn't want that. So I picked out some 18s and so 20s and off I went. They were too big!!!!!! I bought 2 pairs of jeans today. BOTH in SIZE 16!!!!! Holy crap!!!! I jumped up and down, did a little dance, then cried. I then heard a little old lady knock on my door to ask if I was okay! Oh I'm so happy!!!!!!!

Wow!!! 34!!! That's awsome!!! I'm down 49 but that includes the 20 from postop. I'm so lovin the outcome!! Sometimes not lovin the day to day ( ie- head hunger)

You may be taking too big of bites or eating too fast. Slow down and chew smaller bites. Happens to me when I eat to fast or too much at one time

Brandy!!!!! Your smoking again?? Bad girl ; ) I miss getting to chat with you!! Did you get my message a while back? I'm glad everything seems to be going well with you. You are definately right. The little things are really the best. How much have you lost now? Say hi to your mama for me ; )

1 week since surgery....down 10 pounds!
fern replied to Lanette's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job on the 10 lbs!! I was just under that. I stalled at about 2 1/2 weeks. I realized though, that I wasn't getting enough protein in. So watch for that and keep your fluids up. -
Yahoo!!! Great job!! Isn't it great??

12 days post op, help with hunger issues!
fern replied to kaj7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found at that point it was acid that felt like hunger. I'd have a few sips of milk or something alittle thicker and that tended to help. It's also your head telling you that hey! You normally eat that!! Find something to do with your hands to keep them busy til your head shuts up. It's a challenge to change those habits but you need to do it to succeed long term. I'm 5 weeks out and I'll tell you it gets way better once you can start mushies and solids. Just hold on. You can do it!!!! -
every swallow and every sip

I found warm liquids went down easiest. I did chicken broth or chicken flaoured unjury powder. I couldn't do cold for the first week or two. Your doing good. Keep it up!!! -
Thank goodness mom told me about those clean undies : ) hahaha. As it is now I had to sew in a drawstring until my new uniforms come in. The joke with the regular customers now is that I show my own buns while I make their buns!!! As for working in a bakery, it's not so bad now. I'm the head baker and what a workout while you bake in a hot bakery!!! As long as I come prepared to work with protien shakes and allowable snacks I'm good to go. No temptations. I don't really get a chance to sit so I need to snack throughout my shift. Cheese sticks, protien shakes, hard boiled egg whites, just grabbable stuff works great.

I've been telling my boss to order me new work pants as mine are getting looser and looser ( I work in a bakery- very close quarters). It was crazy busy yesterday and he went past me with a big tray of bread. He accidently hooked my pants and pulled them down to my knees!!!! Thank goodness my shirts are huge ( and long)!! We all were laughing til we cried ( so did the customers). Broke our stress from how busy and guess what? He ordered new uniforms!!!

I'm just over a month out and I've found that, for about a week, my breath has been terrible!!! Is this from the surgery? If so, will it go away? Anything I can do to make it go away????

Successful, but Sabotaging Myself
fern replied to Brian66's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow!! 115 lbs!! First of all congrats on that. As for the grazing, I found I had to find something to do with my hands. I set up my craft table and do sculpting while I watch tv ( or fold laundry- definately less fun, but my hands are busy). my mom has lapband, she took up knitting. Sometimes i find if my hands are idle, I crave munchies. If all else fails, I have airpopped popcorn around for those times. Also logging everything that goes in your mouth is a great deterent. I know if I need to log it, I definately think twice. -
A little late, but my 5 month stats

Almost 1 month out-I went to the GYM today!!!
fern replied to fern's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks everyone!! I went 5 days in a row, but my body is rebelling as a pulled groin. So I took today and maybe tommorrow off and then I'm back at it. I'm already starting to notice a difference in the running time. I can run for longer at a time. But a question...... When you started back at the gym, did you feel bloated and gain Water weight? I was at 189 when I started at the gym. Within a couple days I was at 194.5!! I upped my carbs ( from 60 to 80)and Protein ( from 80 to 100) for the gym, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have. Any ideas? -
Almost 1 month out-I went to the GYM today!!!
fern posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I promised myself I would get my arse back to the gym when I got into the 180s. I did not think I'd hit the 180s for a while. Well, I weighed in last night at 189!!! That's 41 lbs since I started my pre-op ( so almost 5 weeks) I haven't been to the gym in years because I couldn't stand people looking at the fat girl trying to run. Well... I just did it!! I went to the gym and guess what you guys?!? I RAN ON THE TREADMILL!!!! Well, 2 min walk 1 run, 2 walk 1 run. But I did it!! I tried running my dog before and I couldn't stand the fat jiggles/ flops when I ran before. My goal is that, at 1 year out( or sooner) I'm running a half marathon. I can't wait!!!! -
I'm doing well ( I think). I started back at the gym this week, so Water and Protein needed to be even higher. I hit almost 100g protein ( which I think is great) at least 2 1/2L h2o, but I also hit 80 carbs. I find I'm craving milk to no end. I'm drinking only skim now, but I'm drinking ALOT of milk. Is 80 carbs way too much? My calories were at 850 with 10g fat. Can anyone give some insite? Also, anyone get advice from their doctors as to when they could resume weights after surgery? I've only been doing cardio so far, but I really want to get into the weights area. Thanks Heather

At one month out ( tomorrow), how many carbs did you bring in?
fern replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Autumnlily- I am in a stall right now. Actually a gain. I've always gained weight the first few days of being at gym again. This time was no different. I was keeping my carbs around 50-60, but I figured after the gain and the start of the gym that the carbs ( and extra Protein ) might kick me out of it. It's has started to work to I was down to 189 about 4-5 days ago. Then I started back at the gym and 2 days agao i hit 194.5!! I know I can't gain that in fat, but man did that suck!! So I figured I'd up my carbs for a week or so to see how it went. I was trying to figure out if 80 was TOO much though. Last night I was back down to 190. Has anyone else found protien shakes to be kinda yucky if not made with milk? . -
OMG!! The best thing ever!!! I just started full liquids and I can pulverize anything in that thing!!! I had chicken broth with chicken and veggies. It liquified everything down with not a trace or chunks!! We made the kids a fruit smoothie ( with a few veggies in there that they will never know about) and they gobbled it up!!! Expensive... But soooo worth it ; )

I'm SO sad : ( the Disney half marathon is full! It's all I could think about. On the bright side, there may be a princess half marathon in February, so fingers crossed!!!
-
I know!! So awsome!! Did you get the recipe book wit it? Lots of good and actually healthy ( that we should be eating) recipes in there!!! I make my protien shakes in it every morning too ; )

OMG!! I can't wait for that!!!!! That's an awsome nsv!!
