Does everyone have a drain after surgery?
fatBgone posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen a number of posts regarding people's drain. Does everyone get one? How long are they in? How is it then taken out? -
ALL BAD RELATIONSHIPS MUST COME TO AN END
fatBgone replied to GreenEyedMamma's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I did the same thing, "borrowed" the seat belt extender! I just kept it with me and very discreetly would pull it out. I didn't want anyone to see that extender!!! I went to great pains to hide it. That day I got on a commuter flight and that belt fit (those are the smaller planes and those seat belts are the shorter ones) I was so happy! When that flight was over, I knew I wasn't going back so I stood up, collected my things and I very openly pulled out that extender and dropped it in the seat! At that point I didn't care who saw it! I left it on that plane for someone else-not me anymore!!!!! Congrats to you, I know how great it feels! -
bad headaches during liquid diet!
fatBgone replied to ScentsyLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was going to die the first 3 days! It was horrible, the headache the tired feeling. I think its carb withdrawal. If you are getting your fluids (and I assume you are because you're on a liquid diet) then its just time. I felt better on day 4 and continued to feel better each day. -
The pants that didn't fit.

fatBgone replied to Rootman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
If anyone can do it, you can. Youve been a great success thus far, no reason why this one piece won't happen for you. It may require a bit more patience but it will come. -

What is the one significant thing in your life that you can do now...
fatBgone replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For me it's getting thru the day without being exhausted. I travel for work and I used to arrive in a city and go straight to the room and lay on the bed to rest. Now I see the city, go out for dinner, do some shopping. I have about 50 lbs to lose still but what a difference the 73 I've lost have made! -
Incredible! Nice job.

I find that I need to change what I'm drinking. I'll get sick of Crystal Light, SF Kool aid, whatever. It tastes good for a couple of days and then I need to switch to something else. But this has been my favorite for awhile now so thought I'd share. Brew some decaf herbal tea. My favorite is Lemon Zinger although I've used Red Zinger and I have peach in the cabinet that I haven't tried yet. Then sweeten it with no sugar added apple juice. My goal was not to go over 50% juice but I didn't need that much juice. Its very good! Enjoy.

Just How Important is your Post-Surgical Dietitian
fatBgone replied to happy1957's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow definitely request another!!! There's no need for that treatment. Both the NUTs in my dr's office are band patients so they 'get it' in terms of treating us all w respect. I really need the NUTs advice, especially onvitamins. Good luck -
Unless you're allergic, aren't shrimp and Scallops a great protein
fatBgone replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made this this weekend... First I made a compound butter, took half a stick of butter and added 1 minced garlic clove, chopped fresh dill and some Old Bay (I love Old Bay), and a dab of hot sauce and the zest of half a lemon. I assembled little foil packets to grill: First I layered thin sliced red new potatoes, then a handful of cleaned, deveined shrimp, I took an ear of corn and cut it into four pieces and put two small pieces in each packet. Then I put a sprig of fresh dill, a pat of the compound butter and sprinkled some more Old Bay and sealed up the packets so there were no holes. Grill for 14 minutes on med hot on your grill. It was sooooo good. You can also add lemon slices to the packets. -
Protein Bars anyone???
fatBgone replied to decamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this info. I travel for work at times and I typically do a Protein shake for Breakfast at home. But was thinking a Protein Bar would be a good substitute when I travel. These sound like they are pretty good in terms of protein and carbs. -
Ladies, this question is for you
fatBgone replied to sleeve newbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep my weightloss stops the couple days right before and then during my period! But as soon as its winding down, the loss begins again (thank God!). So I think what you are experiencing is completely normal. -
Email response from unjury
fatBgone replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Unjury and I have noticed that if I make it with milk and let it sit, it will seperate and not be appealing to me anymore. Making it with soy milk seems to make it last longer in terms of keeping it mixed up. Because it seperated on my with milk, I try to mix it right before I'm going to drink it and not let it sit. That seperation was really gross and I no amount of shaking it up made it better. -
My NUT reccommended it. It only has 5 absorbable carbs per serving and tasted exactly and I mean exactly like regular pasta. Check out the box it explains the carb calculation. The only place I can find it where I live is at Kroger's which is a grocery store.

The Meijer here by me doesn't have it, I wish it did.

How much do u stick to ur program
fatBgone replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to stick to my plan. This weekend called for some exceptions so I worked hard to exercise more and cut back when I wasn't at a social event so I could have a glass of wine when I went out. So I will allow myself those treats but I still stick to my carb grams, protein grams, etc but cutting them other places. -
annoyed with my sleeve
fatBgone replied to apple-saucy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree it is annoying. I can barely leave the food, I really really need to finish my plate. It's so mental. I thank God everyday for that full feeling! -
The cookie monster....
fatBgone replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm completely different, I can easily let go of the dessert but not the bread and pasta, that's my downfall. Today for the cookout I made frozen lemonade cake, a childhood favorite, and it's good and all but I didn't have any. I did however eat the pasta salad. But i made it w Dreamfields so it was low carb. But it's really hard. I overeat with pasta, tortillas, etc. I need to get a handle on it. -
HELP!! 3 weeks out (tomorrow)
fatBgone replied to kellyw74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr mentioned to me at my 1 month post op that inside Mt largest incision, which is in my belly button, there is some kind of staple or stitch that I may start to feel when I move a certain way. He said the staple will dissolve at about 16 weeks. It's different that the staples in our stomach. I don't have any severe pain at all but if I bend over and twist just right I will feel some pain. It's definitely a good idea to call your Dr though. -
What was your turning point?
fatBgone replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was caring for my mom full time, she lived w me and has Alzheimer's, I realized I shoveled in the food to relax and take me away. When she came to the point of needed more skilled nursing care and we decided a nursing home was the safest and best place for her I took a hard look and just went and did it! I was stressed, overweight and had about a 0% chance if losing on my own, I viewed as my only option, and I still think it was. I'm losing now, I love to visit my mom because I visit (not bathe or toilet or feed or whatever, i can just sit w her and talk!)with her so I'm much happier. It s been a long time coming and I'm so glad I just did it.
