Could b very simple and she changes the code and you're approved or depends on your ins, some don't cover the sleeve only the band. Did you look into your coverage?
  2. I am scheduled for full labs including thyroid at 3 mos which is about 5 weeks from now. I was at a good level before surgery and I think my PCP expects that my will need to be lowered as I lose as well. I've had some days of stalls but nothing significant I've been mostly losing consistently.

Why must I finish it? WHY????

OMG this is my struggle too! My dad's line was" if it wasn't good it wouldn't be on the table. Now eat it." I feel this need inside me to finish my meal, it's Insane. Drives me nuts. I have to work on it every meal.

    Carb Question

Once you break that carb addiction, which for me was very hard but Pre-op, I don't buy that low carb makes you depressed. I think there's so much more mentally that we deal with in terms of how we used to use food and that drastically changes and that causes some people to face depression. I believe in the low carb and I also believe simple Carbs are evil. I say this because it was so difficult to break the addiction and I lost a lot of weight on my Pre op diet!

    3 Month Follow Up

I just happy to see you putting more smiley faces in your text! You had such a rough time there for too long! Seems like you are adjusting now.
  6. I've made a few pork roasts in the crock pot then shredded them. It's one of the most tender and I tolerated it well when I started normal food. So you will get to have it soon!

    Favorite Beverage for now

You can get the lemon and red zinger herbal teas at regular grocery stores in the tea section. The brand I use and see the most of is Bigelow. Diva, I haven't ventured into Starbucks yet because I brought my caffeine addiction before surgery and I don't want to be hooked again (at least not yet)

    WooHoo! Got back to swimming

Rootman, that sounds great! Swimming is a great choice, my thought was always that you can work out like a crazy person in the Water and NEVER SWEAT!!! That was always a plus for me. But 80 laps second time out is a huge, huge workout, even with the aids of the fins. Maybe work up to that. Crosswind, what did I miss? Knive wound? You were swimming since surgery, did something else happen?

    Major Complications

A speedy recovery wish for your fiance! It does, however, sound like they are on the right path now. Draining the abscess is key to relieving her pain and with the drains in place, even if the leak is still there, she should drain out and not form another abscess. Hope all goes well from here on out!

    2nd Day back to Work

My first week back to work, I did nothing in the evening, I was exhausted. At the end of the second week, I remember I ran to the grocery andcad I was leaving it hit me that it was the 1st time I had wanted to do something after work. It will get better.
  12. Maggie, I've been watching all your vlogs and the latest one, you really look like you've lost weight! Sometimes it's just a couple extra lbs and whammy you look so thin. Just wanted to let you know. I definitely see it your face. Glad to hear you get soup now...enjoy.
  13. I have that same scale and it gives me an accurate reading everything and it matches my doctors scale. I love it and it's cool looking.

When I was at my heaviest I used to say . . .

...its because I broke my leg, its because my thryroid is messed up, excuses, excuses. No more excuses! I take responsibilty for my actions and am making changes to my eating to get to the new me.
  15. Do you find them at the store by the chips? ( I confess I've never had them)

    salad??

I'm almost 5 weeks and my nut also said 3 months originally. When I had my month post op appt, since I'm tolerating everything they said I could have a salad w baby greens or spinach, because they are so soft. They said to stay away from the harder lettuce for now, so no romain or iceberg.
  17. I was also going to say that they spread but that is huge! I still have one bruise in my thigh from the heparin and I'm almost 5 weeks post op. Let us know what you hear from the doctor.
  18. Don't worry it will come off. It's most likely due to all the fluids you got in the hospital and all the swelling in your stomach. Some people gain a lot of weight from that swelling. It will come off, it just takes time to heal.

    Just a little sugar...

For sugar free Popsicles, the only ones I could tolerate are the Edy's brand fruit pops that are sugar free. They tasted so much better than the regular sf Popsicles.
  20. Yes everyone is different but that first week is rough, not really because of pain, although there is gas pain but its more of a mental/emotional kind of rough time. I can't really explain it. But by day 8 I was feeling much better. On day 11 I came down with a fever if that hadn't happened I think that second week would have been fine but I was sick. Now at 4 weeks I'm feeling really good. As everyone says, it really does get better every day.
  21. I probably would have said I eat when stressed before surgery but now, at 4 1/2 weeks post op, it is such a noticeable event! It's so noticeable to me because I can't just fall into my old habit of eating whatever and in excess quantities like I did before. Pre- surgery I would scarf down whatever the pleasure of the moment was (crackers and cheese, cheetos, doritoes, chips, whatever) and I wouldn't even realize what I had done, I did it so fast. To think back now, it shocks me what I would pack away! Now I still have that need to munch but because my sleeve stops me, I notice it so much easier and I can stop and attempt to control it. I'm still working on an alternative activity to the munching (i've tried mentally relaxing, exercising, TV) I'm not sure which activity works the best yet but its something I can work on. Even when I give in to the munching, its such a small quantity (yesterday I did munch 4 doritos) that I'm so glad I was sleeved. The first step to controlling this issue of mine is recognizing it and the sleeve is helping me do that so much more than before. I haven't conquered it yet but I've definitely made steps in the right direction. Thank you, sleeve!

    How do you balance

What I've noticed is that if I have a bad day that is when I want to munch. Since surgery, when I get that way, and I munch I am in no way eating the quantity I used to eat. So I do it in a much more controled way. I eat 4 Doritos instead of 1/2 bag, I eat 1 oz cheese versus 1/2 lb. I get the munch need met but I haven't blown all the hard work either. Also, because I have more control, I've really picked up on my stress eating and what triggers it. So in the past that 1/2 bag of Doritos would be gone and I didn't even know it! Now I recognize that I'm stressed and I am able to settle myself down mentally at times. But there are times when I want those 4 Doritos so I eat them. But as a rule, I stick to protein first.
  23. The tiny pieces really help. Also I'm sticking to ground meats right now and that works well for me.
