  1. So I've been doing a very good job of working the chew habit. I'll be honest, I do not eat my entire meal doing the chew to dust but I do enough that I know I will be eating the equivalent of my post sleeved meal that way. So here's what I'd like to know. This evening's snack is a Special K Protein bar. I don't even really want a snack tonight but I've been cleaning like a maniac this weekend and my knees are killing me. So Special K and Advil. Well if I bite of a small bite and try to chew 30 times, by the time I get to about the 20-22nd chew, the bite is pretty much gone from my mouth. I haven't really swallowed, at least I don't think so. If I keep chewing on the bit of grit left to get to 30, it makes me cough. Then I can't have Water. Does this happen to anyone else. Do you chew to the point that you don't need to swallow for the food to go down? I'm assuming that's actually a good thing. It certainly couldn't have been chewed any more. If someone post sleeved reads this and has something like a bar to try, can you eat it as you normally would and tell me if I'm actually doing it right. It seems to me that if I need to be able to chew to 30, I need to be biting off a slightly larger pieces. And this may seem silly but I actually worry if this bar is enough to protect my stomach on the advil. It got chewed into non existence so it seems it might not provide the buffer it normally does.
  2. You really need more than 20 oz of liquid. If that continues, please contact your doctor. They might want to give you an IV to rehydrate you. It can be easier to start up again into the liquid if they sort of re-set the meter. 20 oz. is a very small amount. And Pam, are you taking meds for the nauseous? Folks tell me it really helps.
  3. How much walk do they actually mean? I keep hearing walk, walk, walk but I don't know how to mix that with rest. My knees are shot. I want to get enough walking in but I don't want to over do it. Sounds like everyone is really struggling in this group. : (

    Food Fear

That was my main reason for choosing the sleeve over gastric bypass. I know I will be afraid of food to begin with ....the last thing I needed was to add the fear of dumping into the mix. Does everything make you feel bad? Are you okay with the liquid drinks? I'm 2 weeks away from being sleeved and I've talked to about 8 people in our local support group. Most of them had very little trouble adding foods back into their diets but they did it very slowly, adding 1 bite at a time. Most of them are in the 4 to 6 month stage and say they are just now getting back to feeling "normal".

    I'm so impatient

Will be interested in the answers. How are you doing on liquid? If 2 hours after a 3 bite meal you are still full, are you able to start sipping Water then to keep hydrated?

    Few days out

Thanks. They keep emphasizing the 60 grams of protein like you'll keel over and die if you don't get that protein right away. I know there have been many windows of a week or two in my life where I was not getting that much protein. I'm an October date. I want to get in as much protein as I can but if I only get 30 grams but enough Fluid in those first days, I'll be happy. By 10-12 days or so I'll start to get serious about the 60 grams, but it's nice to have someone who's been there say there will be time to get the rest of the stuff in order.
