    Sleeve or Lapband?

I am also going for the sleeve, (previously it was lapband) the more I researched it the more I pulled to the sleeve and my insurance covers both and the band fills so that has nothing to do with my choice. I have 3 friends who have had the band in the last 3 years 1 lost over 100 lbs. with wait gain back(not all) but some and the other 2 are so disappointed for their lack of weight loss, one Dr. said you won't always see the scale move but that's okay, so with me seeing all of this I just feel like my choice is the sleeve if I am going to do anything and my surgeon has just about quit doing the lapband because of lack of success for the patients. It is everybody's choice and I hope all do well.
  3. #9grammy I am right there with you, hope all goes well and our surgery dates seem to be right around the same time frame.
  4. I agree with you Kindle, and I keep telling myself this every day. I am really getting excited for my sleeve and all of you on this site have helped me more than any of you know with all the positive posts.
  5. In my recent post , I said I love adding these posts and I meant I love READING these posts. OOPS.
  6. I guess there can be complications with any of the surgeries but 2 of my friends had the lap-band and that was where I was headed but backed out and plan to be sleeved sometime around Nov. Both lost some weight prior to surgery but after was another story, one was following things to a t the other strayed some but when I was with either and something got stuck , it petrified me but with any of these surgeries if we do what we are told and we have a good qualified surgeon I really feel that we can overcome any of these complications, sure we are going to be nervous and me myself at times is scared to death but since I have gotten active on this website I am feeling so much better, I love adding these post and sure not everything is going perfect for all but everybody will get thru this, the last time I was getting prepared before my husband started his battle with cancer (and I had to stop) I was on two other support pages and I will never go back to either of those , everything I read was bad , everyday and I finally asked in a POST if anyone on those pages ever had anything go right and I never got a response, but it hasn't been that way on Bariatricpal.com and I hope I just keep my Faith strong and my nerves in tact and a note to 1cutechubbychic keep thinking positive and remember we will all have obstacles we have to get thru but what you have chose is right for you and stay strong and know that we all have everyone in our thoughts we are all here for the same thing so give it all you got and know that we just need to do as our surgeon says and we should be fine. Hope to hear after your surgery you are doing GREAT. Keep posting.

    Hair Regrowth

I am not sure how this will work but I have an idea that some may think is crazy but hey some also think I am crazy for considering this surgery but each to his own thoughts, here goes my idea, I have hair below my shoulders right now and expect surgery in November ? so I am thinking about letting my hair to continue to grow till October and get it cut short, but get my hairdresser to cut it in as long of lengths as she can before shaping it up and myself and a friend of mine is going to sew it in a wide hairband and wear it that way, the way we have planned no stiches will be showing at all, I have done this with dolls I have made and it all looks normal. I also have already bought myself a wig should this fail but I have high hopes. We will be able to change the hair band colors. I will still be able to have my hair , curl it and fix it as usual. All we have to do after the attachment to the band is to attach it to a wig cap, which I already have. Who knows maybe it will all work out. We will just have to wait and see. Best of Luck to all in your upcoming months. I love this community.

    hair loss

The topix product that is being mentioned does it blend with all hair colors or does it have to be matched up with each individual?

    hair loss

Valerie this hair loss thing scares me too, I have my wig ready because my hair is what I consider thin already but the back is thick. Not sure if this is true but I was told if we get it cut short it doesn't fall out no where near as bad.

    Anyone having surgery in November

I am not sure exactly when my surgery will be scheduled , it has to be around Nov. I too am in the middle of my weight loss ( dr. supervised) for my insurance . I think 6 months is too long, it gives you too much time to think but I wish all of you the best of luck and hope to hear from some of you .
  16. I sure hope you do well. I am just in my 6 mo. Dr. supervised weight loss and I am nervous even now but as you say I know I have to do this for my health. I sure hope your nerves settle down, and hope it all goes great.

New and hoping to make some friends

Hi WEEWERS, I am new to this also, (at least getting use to this website) I like this one much better than all the others I have tried. I am starting this journey for the second time , the first time my husband was diagnosed with full blown Prostate cancer and of course my health was put on the back burner in order to care for him , but he is doing well and so I start again, I sometimes wonder if that was God's way of steering me away form the lap-band and going with more info on the verticle sleeve. I have a 6 month wait for my cigna insurance with a dr. supervised weight loss which is not going as well as I would like. I have had 3 appointments and go to my surgeon on July15 and back to my Dr. at that time too. I like hearing from people in my own age group . I am 61 , married for 44 years in Dec of this year, have 3 children and 6 grandchildren, 4 grand-dogs and 4 grand-goats. LOL We do love our family pets. I am nervous about the surgery, well not really the surgery but the sagging skin ( as I am sure it will be a lot in my stomach area) and also the hair loss, which I have already purchased a wig to be ready should it get that bad, I would like your feelings on this and how bad was it for you and how do I help keep it to a minimum, well I have babbled on enough. Hope to hear from you soon.
  18. I need to change my height , and not sure how to do it.

Click on your name at the very top of the main page and it will bring up different choices and pick my surgery and you should be able to change it there.

    Any More Sixties?

I am glad to hear these stories, I too am 60 , well will be 61 come April 5. I have hypothyroidism and wondered if that would effect the outcome of the weight loss. I am now on my 6 month supervised diet with my Dr. My surgery will probably be sometime at the end of May. Needless to say I am excited and scared.
  25. So sorry this happened, it really makes you think.
