JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
hopeful one replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All, Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't had surgery yet but I got a good feel of what the Gas pain was all about today, I had to go for an Upper GI and they pumped my stomach full of gas and needless to say my day hasn't been the best. It could have been worse but I felt it. -
Jaxwaqu1, Hello I too have Hypothyroidism and my insurance also says in all the writing that they don't cover patients with Hypothyroidism but when I went to my surgeon and mentioned that , the Nurse quickly told me that if a Person has been under treatment and taking care of it , they will cover but if it isn't being taken care of is when they deny coverage . Now yours may be different but this is how they said cigna works.

JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
hopeful one replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, Hope everyone is doing good. I have a question , (haven't had surgery yet) when some speak of the Spasms after drinking how does that feel? That may be a stupid question but I am curious, did you all have to have an upper GI as part of your pre-surgery testing? -
Long term satisfaction with revision?
hopeful one replied to triplezero's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am enjoying reading all your posts but I have a question , I still haven't had the surgery and am supposed to have the sleeve sometime at the end of this year but I am considering the band too, but my question is how much hair did you'll lose? Some talk like it just comes out in handfuls and others say very little? -

The Big Book on Bariatric Surgery: Living Your Best Life After Weight Loss Surgery has arrived!
hopeful one replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Madwife2002 I just received my big book after bariatric surgery by Alex Brecher and It is AMAZING. It even tells you exactly what your meals on each diet can be , they list it for you. It is SOOOOOOOOOO worth the money. Good luck -
I too am on Well butrin and I too tried to go off because I was doing so good, but that wasn't the best decision , but I am back on it and doing good. I am so fat I can't tell if it made me gain weight but I don't think it was the WB. Good Luck.

Sleeve doubles in size after 1 year?
hopeful one replied to luvzpitbullz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love reading these posts, and I will say this , not sure if the sleeve doubles or not but I will say this , if I do go thru with this surgery and everything is pointing that way, I may at some point gain a little back as we are not perfect but you can rest assured I WILL NEVER BE THE WEIGHT I AM NOW, not in this lifetime. I WILL NOT ALLOW MYSELF TO EVEN GET NEAR IT. Good luck to everyone and keep posting. -

Freezepop, They are very adamant about making sure you are checked out from head to toe, I am just glad I have good insurance. I didn't mention the Fecal test. LOL No I am not high risk , at all, as a matter of fact all of my labs are excellent, cholesterol is only 165, thyroid is performing well, I don't have my gall bladder . he (my surgeon ) told me he was very pleased with everything, they are just making sure everything is good. Oh I forgot, My surgeon said he Sleeved a 71 yr old and they were doing great. I love this forum. I hope all goes well for everyone. -

I have been in a Drs. office all day from 10:30 till 3:30 WHEW! But had positive feedback from both my Med. Dr. and My Surgeon. I really like them both and trust them so very much. They were amazed at how much I had read up on the sleeve but everything felt different this time. Hope all is doing well & feeling good . I have lost 15 lbs and they only said to try and lose 10 more in the next three months.I may see if they can schedule me for surgery in Jan. instead of November because I really don't need to miss work right before Christmas. We need my paychecks coming in but we will see. I got my Lab work done or at least part of it. I still have to do an upper GI, EKG,And a Colonoscopy YUCK!they said they just want to make sure they are checking everything. Well everyone have a great evening. -
Thanks for the responses to my questions, LIVING FREE your med team gives a more sensible answer than any I have heard, I just cannot believe it is simply the surgery unless they use a DIFFERENT kind of anathesia(Spelled this wrong) Everybody have a great day and good luck on your journeys

WHAT ACTUALLY causes the hair to fall out, The only thing I have ever read id the Surgery itself, but Ihave had 3 Major surgeries and I didn't experience this.

I read some of these posts over and over and I am going to be very Honest, and one that keeps coming back to me is 1cutechubbychic, I wish we all lived close enough where we could meet for our own support groups and really get to know each other, but since that isn't possible I want to address 1cutechubbychic and say, Please don't make your decision on any posts , we are all individuals and I really let 2 other support sites scare me to death the first time around, and I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO EITHER ONE AGAIN. All I heard was negativity and people complaining, (SCARED the daylights out of me) Think about the future of our obesity and then compare that to the surgery benefits, if I said I wasn't still scared some I would be lying but I 'll tell you one thing that got to me, I had to cancel last time as I have said before but when I decided to do this again I went back and looked at some others who I talked to last time and to see them now with their weight loss made me Happy for them but made me sick for myself , because they all look so good and talk about coming off of meds , and can move a lot easier now. Sure we may have a small complication or 2 but hey it is all a part of the journey, I don't want to make you change your mind , just Please talk with your surgeon, and ASK ASK ASK ASK questions and know that we can all get thru is , we just have to listen to our heart. Hope all have a Wonderful experience. -
Experiences with Phentermine?
hopeful one replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
RellaBelle, I took Phentermine when I was in my 40's and it works but, it can mess with your heart and you have to be very careful and stay in constant touch with your Dr. As to say which one would be the best WHO KNOWS but It is almost like you are on a high in the morning and mid afternoon I was like I didn't care about ANYTHING. This was just my experience. -
I see all these posts about the hair loss and would be lying if I said it doesn't scare me , but if that is what I have to go thru I guess that's what I have to go thru. I am writing down all this stuff people are using and I am hoping for the best.

Just thought I would throw this out there, Do you'll know that We can live WITHOUT our WHOLE STOMACH. It is not an organ that we absolutely have to have, Just Saying. -

1cutechubbychiq,Sure hope things are going well for you today,Not only you but any of us need to ask questions and find out all we can,I don't have a problem with that,I think it is a very smart thing to do.The first time I didn't ask my surgeon anything because a friend of mine had went thru it and I thought I had found out everything I needed to know from her but I was wrong , and I won't make that mistake this time. I am in the process of making my list of questions to take with me. LOL I hate this 6 month supervised weight loss process, it gives you to much time to think. Well just wanted to check in with you and let you know I am here if you need to talk. Take care Peggy -

1cutechubbychic, I just want to say , I honestly know where you are coming from , this is my second time of going thru this, the first time I was ready for surgery and my husband was diagnosed with cancer and I cancelled my surgery because I had to take care of him but at that time (approx. 3 years ago) I was glad I had to cancel because I was very uncertain at that time. I since have researched and researched and I feel like I am better prepared this time but if I said I wasn't scared I would be lying. I do wish I could do this on my own and have said if I lose 50lbs before surgery I may change my mind, but please stay strong and do what you and your surgeon feel is right for you. I wish you all the Luck in the world and hope after you talk with your surgeon you will be more at peace with it all and like you have said there are complications in all of the surgeries , some just may not experience them, but none are completely promise free of complications, everyone has their own opinions and rightly so ,but you just stay strong as I said and Do what you feel is right for you. GOOD LUCK. I hope everyone who has surgery has Absolutely NO COMPLICATIONS from their surgery and come thru it feeling great and end up losing all the weight they need too. -
I am from Roanoke also and Lucktong is my surgeon.
