No chance at all that I would have switched my surgery...I'm happy with my sleeve. I did all my research and felt 100% confident that the sleeve was the right choice for me.

Has anyone read the about.com article on VSG?
M2G replied to Rainydayz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree the author's information is OUTDATED! I wonder why someone would write this without getting new and updated facts? Even the sources that she produces at the end of her article are from 2008 and 2006 respectively...lots has changed since 2006 & 2008...sheesh! -
That sounds really yummy! Now I just need a day of cooler weather to try it out...lol...this summer has been SO hot and it's continued into the fall. I live in Colorado and we are not used to summer "heat" lasting this long, it's almost Oct. and that usually means SNOW!

WOW, you have done a tremendous job with your sleeve in a super-short amount of time! And look at your collar bones...they were in hiding before. What is your goal weight? You must be close to goal (not sure how tall you are but just guessing from the way you look now!)

Seven months and 92 pounds
M2G replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow - 92lbs since surgery in 7 months...fantastic! You look great but we need a before photo too, because you look radiant now! -
WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! -200lbs in 10 month is flat out amazing!!! You are doing a terrific job, and if you keep this up you will be at goal in no time! Congratulations!!

Your dr. sound VERY similar to mine. I was told no alcohol until at least 1 year post-op (I'm 10 months now and haven't had a drop of alcohol or soda since before surgery) I was told to say goodbye to caffeine forever and now I do drink 1 cup of decaf a day (decaf still has small amts of caffeine). My dr. also doesn't believe in the liver-shrinking diet and said my liver was beautiful when he was in there...lol. I think follow your surgeon's guidelines and use your own common sense. If caffeine or alcohol are slippery slopes for you then maybe give yourself more time before partaking. While they are not slippery slopes for me (I truly had no problem giving them up, as I'm not a big drinker anyway, diet soda was harder than alcohol for me, but I did it anyway, cold turkey too!) I just felt it was in my best interests to not give myself tiny amounts of something that my body doesn't even need. You will figure out what works best for you and your sleeve.

What's your favorite vanilla protein powder?
M2G replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby is sleeved as well and we both like all flavors of Jay Robb. -
Ditto to Diva...I always took the time to dress nice, accessorize, and use makeup (not a ton) but my style has always been classic casual, and I really don't see that changing much. It's annoying b/c I find myself drawn to the same type of classic clothing and essentially re-buying what I normally wear ...BUT in a smaller size (that part isn't annoying at ALL!) I will tell you at first shopping in the ladies dept. vs WOMANS WORLD or PLUS SIZE is a whole different animal b/c there are SO many choices...it's almost overwhelming after being relagated to a boxing ring size of the store. But now that I've been in regular size for the last 6 months or so, I finally don't feel like an "imposter" when I wander in there (I felt VERY out of place when I first started shopping in regular land...) Another big bonus is that I can essentially shop at Goodwill or other type thrift store and the selection is great in the size that I'm at...no more do I just have to look for the biggest size and be happy with what I can scrape up. I can enjoy shopping and I'm so happy at what I see in the mirror!!

Cereal was a huge trigger food for me, I used to snack on it right out of the box (terrible, terrible habit) and it didn't matter what kind...sugary, non-sugary, it was just me consuming empty calories. So it had to go bye bye for me to do well with my sleeve. I do believe that cereal and milk at the same time violates the don't eat and drink @ the same time rule, so I would say no to cereal and milk together. I did however go through a time when I would sprinkle granola into my yogurt, but granola can sometimes be loaded with sugar and is not a low-calorie food...I found it to be a slippery slope so I had to say goodbye to the granola too. Sorry I wish I had better news for you. However I wouldn't trade the -80lbs that are gone from my body for a bowl of cereal for any day!

Lap banders - Where are you?
M2G replied to Twice Shy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is just my personal opinion (and no I have never had a band) but I really *wish* the makers of the lapband would market it as TEMPORARY. Seems like that is exactly what it is....hence why I chose the sleeve. Permanent. People like the fact that the band is "reversible" but sometimes the damage it causes is permanent. When I was in the very beginning of starting my WLS path, I was headed down the Band path, and at my first nutritional counseling visit I told my NUT...I just done *see* myself as 80 years old and still having a device inside of me. I think I knew right then and there that I couldn't go through with the band as my choice. That being said, I did meet someone at my support group who had bypass and then a band-over-bypass. Maybe you can google that and find some others out there in your same situation. Best of luck to you. -
WOW! You are doing incredible. And look how your tummy snapped right back up to where it should be...awesome!
-
255lbs in one year. Just astounding!!! You look sooooooooooo much younger...congrats!!!
-
It is great isn't it!!! :star: I was a good yo-yo dieter and had every size from 16 to 24 in my closet. Now I need 14's and hoping soon to be a 12 (I have a few so far, but am hoping to need more soon!)
-
Congratulations, you are doing an amazing job!!! My hubby is sleeved 6 months also and has lost about 60lbs. He is about 30lbs away from his ultimate goal (which ironically he just figured out won't put him in the "healthy" category with his BMI, but he is okay with that...he also is off all meds...yay!) You are in the right mindset to just keep doing what you are doing and the rest will all fall into place. :cheer2:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look amazing!

http://www.maidenform.com/shapewear/styles/all-shapewear/flexees--fat-free-dressing--t-shirt-3066?cm_mmc=Google-_-3066-_-Flexees-_-3066&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=3066 I got two of these on clearance at Kohl's (except they were white ...paid $11.40 (each) plus I had a 15% off coupon) came home tried them on, OMG, I wish I had 15 of them all in different colors. They are AWESOME! I can't find them on Kohl's website but in their actual stores I saw a lot of shapewear on clearance.

I use whatever I can find on sale, but I really like Fleexes brand for stuff. They have knock-offs at Target and Walmart which are cheaper and probably work just as well. Also you can hit up Ross and TJMaxx for higher end shapewear at pretty discounted prices. Good luck...I almost always have a fleexes T or cami on under my clothing.

That is so funny and so true!! Just like bare mid-driff gals who show nary a scar yet they are ads for RNY and Sleeve. Pfffttt!

One Year Sleeversary
M2G replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
1 year later...CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was looking to join this community I started with YOUR posts about your journey to Dr. Aceves, and I've been cheering you on ever since. You look beautiful and I'm SO happy for you! Here you go: :bananahuge: -
Congratulations on finishing and finishing well. I'm sure you will have a much easier time with the sleeve than the band from what I hear. Many people say that the sleeve actualy does what the band promises to do. Onward and downward on the scale! Congrats!
-
YOU ROCK!!! They always say men lose faster, but you got him beat! Congrats!
