Anthem BCBS (Cali) Approved *whew*
Ulysses commented on Day Dreamer's blog entry in Day Dreamer's Blog
Hi, That is the same insurance I have... BCBS PPO Exclusive, Anthem in Cali; even though I'm in Idaho. Took mine forever to approve - my surgeon's office faxed the package 3x to them before it was assigned to a nurse/case manager. Did you have a high co-pay? I thought I had the top of the line insurance with low deductibles. But i had to pay (in addition to regular office co-pays) a little over 750.00 to the surgeon before they would give me a date (18 days from now!)... Best of luck, ~J -
April 26th for me too - I can hardly wait for it to be over! I say "over" when it's just the beginning, but the months of jumping through hoops will be great to have as a thing of the past. I didn't have to have a 6-month supervised diet, but it has been over 4 months since I went to the 1st seminar. Now I keep thinking something will go wrong; that the doctors will start the surgery and then say... "Sorry to inform you that we discovered an Alien incubating in your stomach - we had to cancel the procedure. Also, you owe us 60,000 because the feisty little sucker spit acid all over the stapler and then bit a nurse"... Best of luck to you (and me)... J

"Ok I'm a loser...what does NSV stand for????" ________________ I was right there with you fatBgone! I had no idea what NSV stood for in this forum. I knew it probably was not: ----- Non Scalpel Vasectomy NullSoft Streaming Video - a popular codec in my geek world Net Sales Value The NSV 12.7mm a Soviet made heavy machine gun or Non Specific Vaginitis: which I suppose could be crazy (especially since I have no Vagina) but didn't seem to fit the message. Non scale Victory works for me... --- Speaking of scales, I have a GREAT scale I bought from Amazon that weighs accurately up to 500 lbs...I will post a link to it in another topic. Only problem is it will tell you (in a really loud voice) how much one weighs...

My Surgeon, Dr. Oakley will NOT perform Lap Band surgery on anyone anymore. I haven't had my sleeve done yet (the 26th of April - 20 more days!). But there are three surgeons at my facility (a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence) and only one doc still has the Lap Band as an option. Dr. Oakley is the head of Bariatric's here and explained in the first seminar why he refuses to do them...Lots of reasons, but mainly that they were ineffective, required constant adjustment and it is a "Foreign Body" in your body that can cause damage... I hope everything works out for you - my father is a PCP and had the RNY done 4 years ago - he has no complaints. Take care,

Greetings April Sleevers... Getting my sleeve on April 26th! Can't wait....

Hey Guys, I just joined the forum and have read most of the MAN ROOM posts - great info! I have spent the last 3+ months jumping through all the hoops to have the sleeve done, I finally have the date set for April 26th, 2011. It's nice to know that other guy's out there have or had the same questions/concerns that I have...One of my ultimate goals (other than the standard health/self-esteem issues etc) has been to get my "game back" so to speak in the sex department. I really never had any problems in that area until I hit the age of 40 (43 now) and the weight just kept piling on no matter what diet I went on...I have watched in disgust and disbelief how my body has turned into huffing, puffing. sweating mockery of its former self. I especially enjoyed the topic of "endowment" I believe it was called...When I look down all I can see is my gut - not good. I seriously look forward to the day that Mr. Happy can make his stellar comeback. Poor guy has called it quits and retreated into his own little fat cave, looks like 2 prunes and a mushroom cap! It's fantastic to know that once the weight starts to come off, the groundhog won't be afraid of his shadow anymore. I decided to check out WLS as an option after the last Holiday dinner with the family. Now they were never known for their tact to begin with, but I just about went postal when everyone at the table got a nice Christmas laugh when my little brother shouted "Hey! ***ME*** has the biggest Tit's at the table!" OK, it was kinda funny - but nobody talks about my "Moobs" that way... I am currently at 460lbs - the most I have ever weighed. I bought a great scale off Amazon that weighs accurately up to 500Lbs - so I will be using it to monitor my progress. I am also going on the Post-Op diet even though my surgeon doesn't require it. I have an Olympic weight set/cage and bench that I used to use a lot and just bought a nice elliptical bike - so I am ready for this. Surprisingly, I don't have any co-morbidity issues other than shortness of breath. My GP and Surgeon both said I have cholesterol and blood sugar levels that an 18 year old would be happy to have. I am also a pretty big guy with a large frame: I'm 6'3, was able to palm a basketball when I was 12 and wear size 16 shoes...I look pretty good at 230-260 lbs. I haven't weighed under 230 Lbs since right after high school. Anyway, just wanted to give everyone a shout and say thanks for all the great info so far... ~J

I FINALLY GOT MY DATE!! APRIL 21ST YEAH
Ulysses replied to lynnferreira's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Lynn - I can't really give you and advice, but I can tell you that we are in the same exact boat right now. I just got my surgery date and its on the 26th of April. I have researched everything pretty extensively and haunted this website for some time (this is my 1st reply/post). I am really excited about it as well; but mainly, just glad all the Pre-Op Hoops are done being jumped through. That was the worst part so far for me - a never ending stream of appointments and "did I pass?" moments... Congrats on your surgery date! I'll be right behind you.
