  1. yeah, that was a pain, the bra rubbing against the incision(s). I don't wear underwire and I'm a 48 DD. Now a 44D! I went bra shopping last weekend. I had to put gauze pads under my bra band/incision areas. Lu

not loosing weight in 2nd month

I lost a lot in the first month and then stopped. I had my first fill and NOTHING. I could eat a horse if I wanted to. I am still restricting my calories and having lots of protein. But nothing is happening. I called and scheduled a second fill this coming week (which will be 2 weeks after my first fill and exactly 2 months post-op) My doctor gives two free fills. Guess they're gone...

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Have you had your first fill yet? DId you discuss it with doctor at that appt? Walk. I started walking at night and it has helped me - drop weight again but also with feeling better, exercise raises the spirits.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

tomorrow's a new day. start again.
  5. when I was 2 weeks out, I certainly couldn't lift a laundry basket. bending over hurt at times, I did very little of it at that point. Up until 3 weeks I had SHARP pains, people could see the pain wash across my face. i just started to be able to do things without pain around week 4.

    swollen belly???

I did liquids for three week. No cheating. It was rough. But I was scared to cheat. I also want to succeed this time. Cheating is how I ended up here!

    Feeling sick

Deidre, I didn't get close to my requirements for the first 4 or 5 days. I wan't hungry, it tasted nasty. Adding plain Protein powder to the broth was icky. I counted - I was only getting 40 - 50 carbs a day. I wasn't sure if I could do this. Now I'm 1 month tomorrow, down 18 pounds and okay. At week 3, I was still having pains and could barely bend over.. It's not all rainbows and butterflies for everyone. But keep going. "go confidently in the direction of your dreams...." Thoreau.

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Gika, I had mine last weekend. I was so panicky. I was sweating and at home alone. I went online. I walked up and down the step from the landing on my staircase, stomping with my arms raised. Gone within a few steps. I read somewhere that jumping was helpful. I didn't want to jump. (Hurts my girls when I jump).

    Three Weeks Out and Counting

I just passed the 3 week mark on thursday. i am eating mushies (Soup, refried Beans, greek yogurt, and shakes). I have tried scrambled eggs - no problems. I tried some turkey breast (shaved) today and that didn't go so well. I had my first instance of being "stuck." Lots of hiccups, and little burps. I started to panic a little, I live alone and got nervous. Then I started walking up and down my stairs very heavy. It moved. Now I am back on liguids. Oh well, I tried too soon. My biggest problem is the pain still where the port is. It hurts to reach up to top shelf,, bend down to pick things up. Anyone still having this pain? Tylenol helps sometimes, sometimes not. I have my first fill May 10. Lu

    How did your relationship change?

Pamela, I am on the other side of the fence. I was (note the was) married to someone who had gastric bypass. He swore we would never be a statistic. About 4 years after his surgery and down 250 pounds he walked out. He wanted to see what he had missed in his younger years. But the man I married at 450# was not the man that walked out at 200#. Sometimes it does change people. All sorts of things happen.

    Who are you??

Pam, I went back to get my Masters in Counseling at the age of 44. I am currently being supervised, need to take licensing exam soon and hope to be all set in private practice by 50. It's been a long haul. Miss men, huh? so you really haven't dated since your 30's. Wow. I haven't been out in 2 years and thought that was unbearably long. It will all come together. I am getting my ducks in a row ...

    Who are you??

Greetings from sunny South Florida, I'm Amy. I'm 48; divorced once; no kids. But I do have 2 cats that keep me company. One is old and ill and gets shots etc so that keeps me busy. Mandy, like you, I also work with the MR/DD population. I am a therapist/behavior analyst. I have 2 degrees - two careers. They do overlap a lot though. I am only 2 weeks post op so just started enjoying Soup and yogurt. Trying to figure out how to have a social life that doesn't revolve around food. A few posts back (sorry I can't remember who) mentioned bad aftercare. Can you tell us more about that. I want to make sure that I know what to expect for good aftercare. Amy

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

yeah, this was a bit much for me too. Trying not to get too full, get all that water (which I wasn't used to) and protein. I never made the protein goal. My doctor said the protein goal, is just that, a goal -- something to work towards. The nurse said mix the two, put unflavored Protein powder in my Crystal Lite. I never did throw up. One nite of nausea though. When I got on the scale it was all worth it.
