Starting puree's tomorrow! yay! And I need ideas. I went to the deli and picked up some smoked chicken salad, tuna salad, and yogurt. I already have eggs, just need a few ideas of things that might go down well. Thanks!

Anyone Get Pain N Fever After They Eat?
SophieJaneB replied to kysia81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are the symptoms of a leak! You need to call your surgeons office. Although, with your surgery being May 15th, you should be out of the danger zone for a leak, but still, I would call surgeons office to be sure! -
I'm stalled AGAIN. I hit 25 lbs down on July 29th, and then gained a pound, stayed there for many days, and lost it again, so basically I haven't lost any weight since July 29th. And my surgery was just on July 11th. I am getting about 500-750 calories a day AND working out 4x a week. I am not getting all my water in, but I should still be losing. This is so frusterating. No wonder I quit at so many diets before the surgery, hit a stall, and feel hopeless, then give up. Glad I can't give up now!

Me. I was about the same at two weeks post op. I hit 25 lbs lost, and I've stalled for 2 weeks. It is frusterating, but hopefully will pass soon.

Honestly, your symptoms sounds like a gallstone attack to me. Did they do an ultrasound to rule out gallbladder? -
1 Month And 1 Week Post Op
SophieJaneB replied to Billie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing awesome to still be losing 1-2 pounds a day! I stopped losing that much about 10 days after surgery. It's been slow for me, but you seem to be doing fantastic!! Way to go! -
How far post-op are you? From your description sounds like you are very early on, and that pain and nausea sounds very normal, and trust me it WILL get better! I promise! The swelling on your tummy from the surgery will relax a little and you'll be able to eat a little bit more, not much overall though, but enough to make you feel better! And I think you will get used to the low amounts of food you'll eat at a time, and that will make it easier also!

Question About Timing
SophieJaneB replied to sascmed314's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not mentally ready to work 9 days after surgery, I was not taking in enough calories to be able to "think" properly. At only about 200 calories, I was not on my a-game. Now, at a month post op, I am definitely ready for work, taking in more calories, I can think clearly again. -
I Feel Like I Am Starving Myself...
SophieJaneB replied to lilly11781's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl, I had a little mini-breakdown on day 5 post-op. I cried all day long, felt like I was starving, and felt like I was going to dehydrate, was having to take care of my kids and drive them places, so NO pain meds for me at all, just a very very rough day. But it DID get better, a little better every day. And try something other than the shakes, maybe some thinned out pudding, or thinned out creamy soups (with no chunks) try to have something savory to help your taste buds out. You got this! You can do it, and it WILL get easier, Hang in there!!! -
THats about when Mine started also. However, i got on the scale this morning and it FINALLY moved! Down 1.4#. yay! Hopefully it will move several more before stalling again, but we will see!
-
thanks ladies! It's been at least 10 or 11 days and my scale is STUCK. I keep thinking it MUST be broken, but I know it's just a stall. I've been working out 4 days a week for an hour each time, so I know I'm doing the right thing, so I'll just have to wait it out. Can't wait to see that scale move!

Full Feeling?
SophieJaneB replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT described it as a tight feeling at the base of your sternum, or ribcage. She was right, after she shed light on that feeling, I waited for it, felt it, stopped eating and it saved me from taking that extra bite that can cause the pain. -
Am I Losing Too Fast
SophieJaneB replied to louise1973's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
32 lbs in 13 weeks seems great to me! I wish I was still trucking along, but I hit a stall after week 2, and still stalled (week 3). I've lost 25 lbs in a month. -
Three Questions About Vsg...
SophieJaneB replied to DeterminedGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgeons are VERY willing to work with you, especially finding your co-morbidities, etc. to try and help you qualify, after all, they WANT to do your surgery so they can get paid! My surgeons looked at my complete medical history and found 2 co-morbidities. They know what the insurance is looking for, and do what they can to help you qualify. I had a really stressful period of time last year, my blood pressure spiked, I raced myself to the doctor, and bam, I'm diagnosed with high blood pressure. Do what you gotta do. -
You are gorgeous!! And I love all the new clothes, I was like, oooh...I wanna wear that!! lol Congrats on the weight loss!!!

I was able to "resume sexual activity" yesterday, after my 2 week post op appt. And with 24 lbs gone, it was like a whole new world, felt like a new person. Just wanted to give you pre-surgery people something to look forward to! And I guess I could all that a Non-scale Victory also! heehee

SophieJaneB replied to SophieJaneB's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My main problem before, was sex drive. That has improved already, after just 24 lbs gone. My hubby was wondering what had gotten into me LOL -

I'm Sleeved! Just Home From Hospital.
SophieJaneB posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First thing I want to say is, the surgery is not for the faint of heart. I've had 2 c-sections, and gallbladder removal surgery so I kind of knew what I was getting in to. If you've never had surgery just be prepared, there is quite a bit of pain in your abdomen, and the worst is geting up out of the bed every time you go to the restroom, which is very frequently since they are giving you fluids through an IV. So, put on your Brave face and tackle it head on, you can do this!! I arrived at the hospital Wednesday at 5:30am and things started happening very quickly. I got called back, changed into gown, and people started coming in, anesthesia team, nurses, and surgeon. They started my IV and gave me fluids and tylenol through IV. I vaguely remember being wheeled to the operating room, I remember one of the doctors asking if I'd like some chapstick on, and I said yes, and he rubbed some onto my lips with gauze, I thought that was very thoughtful. Next thing I knew I was barely waking up in recovery and in pain! I remember moaning and saying "it hurts, it hurts" and the nurse said they were starting in on my Dilautid drip, and I said "will it get better the more I have because it still hurts!" and she said yes. I vaguely remember being wheeled to my room, where my husband was waiting for me, and I pretty much slept the rest of the day. My mouth was dry as cotten and the nurse said usually no ice chips, but she'd call the dr. to see if I could have some. I had a few ice chips after that and a few more before bedtime. My husband left to go home for the night. I woke up at 2am puking my guts up, then dry heaving. Let me tell you, It hurts to vomit and dry heave with a stomach that was just cut open! I frantically called the nurse and they came in and gave me some phenegren, then changed the sheets, and my gown, wiped my neck and hair down (yes it had gotten everywhere!) I know you're thinking what was there in your stomach to even throw up? Well, it was bile, the dark brown stuff. *sorry if TMI* The next day went better, started me on Clear liquids, could hardly sip anything. By the end of the day I had eaten a few bites of chicken broth, and a sugar free popsicle, and a few sips of crystal light. Nurses kept me on zophran for nausea during the day and dilautid pump for pain. I pushed the pump every 10minutes to keep my pain under control. I started running a low grade fever that evening 100.5. the doctor did not want to treat it, said it was normal due to the surgery and it would go away on its own. He was right, it steadily went down every couple hours, the next morning it was 99.9 then midday, it was 98.5, so it went away by itself. That night was uneventful, I could pretty much get out of bed (without using my abs) on my own and go to the restroom. Just warnig you, you will be peeing A LOT!! from the iv fluids they give you. The next morning was Friday and by then I could walk around the floor with very little problems, still pumping the dilautid drip every 10 minutes. It was wonderful that I had a friend there doing the same surgery so we'd visit each others room, and walk laps together, truly truly a blessing to have her there, and we just met at pre-op visit! The doctor made his rounds at about 12:30pm and we got the ball rolling on discharging me. We left the hospital at about 2pm. By the way, they took me off the dilauted around 12:30 and gave me liquid Lortab (vicodin) and it made me loopy! I felt drunk the rest of the day. I am still taking it though, and do not feel that "drunk" feeling anymore. Today is Saturday, I am in great spirits, sipping VERY slowly on Atkins drinks and crystal light lemonade. and walking laps around my living room. The main thing I want people to know (who haven't had the surgery yet) is to be BRAVE, COURAGEOUS and put on your fighting face, because you CAN do this, YES, you will have pain, but it is so very worth it! I wouldn't take it back for a second! Thanks for listening, so if it was too long -
