  1. It can be a lot of things, the ones you mention, getting nauseated or upset stomach to full on stomach pain. You may also experience diarrhea or constipation from foods that never bothered you before. Or it could be as mild as a real mental turn off for certain foods. Everyone is different and things change as your progress post-op.

    Felt A "pop" - Gross

My guess is a small adhesion let lose. Stuff gets stuck on each other after an operation, if left for long tissue and organs can grow together - GOOD if that's what it needs to do as in the case of an incision, BAD if it's an internal organ or abdominal wall sticking to something else. Monitor it pain persists or a fever or redness presents then call the doc or go to the emergency room.
  3. Tell a true story of some time when you were scared sh!tless by something spooky or unexplained. When we were kids my bro and I used to stay up late Saturday night watching monster movies on a UHF channel. We laid in the bottom bunk (mine) under the covers in our creepy old house. The normal short movies were drug on by hours with commercials seemingly every 5 minutes. All were proceeded with a hokey segue that flashed a two tone picture of a monster and an announcer saying something like "The wolfman is howling mad..." or "Frankenstein is coming to get you..." followed by a maniacal laugh. We were bleary eyed and hardly able to keep awake when one more of these stupid commercials hit. This time it was a pic of Boris Karloff as the mummy and the announcer said "The mummy is at your door ..." Just then a draft caused our bedroom door to open very slowly and creek very loudly, at least in our minds as loud as any B movie sound effect anyway. We both looked at each other, eyes wide as saucers and dived under the covers crying. We awoke sometime early in the AM with the old TV hissing static - this was the 60's when TV stations actually went off the air. Man were we scared, my bro - yeah it was HIM not me - actually wet the bed he was too scared to get up and pee. MY bed! In our second house the wife and I were laying in bed in the dark one night, softly chatting about something or other when an unbelievable racket filled the house, the noise seemed to come from EVERYWHERE. Boom, BANG, RATTLE! It seemed to go On and ON but maybe lasted all of 30 seconds or so - a dang long time where your scared witless. I literally JUMPED out of bed. Grabbed something, I think it was a back scratcher ( ) and carefully opened th bedroom door. I checked the basement and the first and second floor - all was in order. I reluctantly went back to bed and didn't get to sleep for hours. YEARS later we had to get into the second floor attic and found an old plastic 5 gallon bucket - that had been placed by a previous owner to catch a small leak - had been over turned. And some gray fur was caught in the wire handle, I could see that an upper vent near the chimney vent was broken which had allowed squirrels to get into the attic, evidently one had jumped down and collided with the bucket, overturned it and it mus of kept scrambling trying to get back outside again - hence all the racket. Being near the old brick chimney which had a clear space around it that went clear to the basement (called a chase I believe for fire prevention, no wood actually touched the chimney) had caused it to echo all throughout the house. Mystery solved. So these are two are kind of lame, what are yours?

Update On Biopsy Of The Gums.

Both glad to hear that it was not cancer and sad to hear that it is an autoimmune issue. We all wish you the best on your continued treatment.

    Ugh Cold!

Just about 2 years out and I'm still cold. The upside is it's usually easier to get warm then it is to cool off, you can always ADD ;ayers but you can only take so much off - especially in public I also just don't get very hot in the summer either. This past summer I was out riding my bike all through the horrible 100+ degree weather we had here, didn't really faze me at all.

Why Do I Hate The Word "hubby" So Much?

Well, my wife prefers to call me "old b@stard" so hubby would be a step up

    All Labs Completely Normal

Congrats, isn't it amazing how much stuff we blame on "everything else" is our own fault due to diet?

    Straws

The NO STRAW rule is in a word ... bunk. My doc actually suggested using one as you can take smaller sips and do it more often. If you suck more air with a straw and swallow it you are using it wrong. Take a sip through as straw and see. You suck the liquid up the straw, exhale the excess air through your nose (or even mouth sometimes) and THEN swallow. See? No difference. This is just another old wives tale that even some doctors believe.
  10. 3 days post op I flew back home alone from MX, returned to work the next day, I was miserable and should not of done it but had used up all my vacation days. NOT recommended.

    I Don't Want To Shart!

    I Don't Want To Shart!

It happens, you are after all messing with your digestive tract and radically altering your diet. Some get constipated, some get diarrhea and some remain regular. There is absolutely no way of telling what effect it may have on you - if any. Just heed the old adage - as repeated in this thread - don't trust a fart.

    High Bmi Success Stories?

How about 50.9 BMI? I was 375# and am now down to 205. As I've stated many times on the forum that I'd like to lose more but i just don't think it's going to happen. I seem to be at my ideal weight for a 50 YO 6' male. I look good, so I'm told. I can just squeeze into a size medium top and 34 pants but usually elect for the comfort of a large top and 36 pants. My tummy is flat and my arms and legs are thin. I've achieved what I set out to do. 2 checkups in a row and I've got stellar results, ALL my blood work is superb and all my health issues are a thing of the past. The only "problem" I still have is low testosterone which I was diagnosed with a few years prior to WLS. It's common enough issues with men my age and I've reduced the amount of supplemental T I take down to 1/8 of what I started at. I have insurance but elected to NOT use it. I had the money and want a VSG and not a bypass - which is what the local docs here are pushing. I also wanted it NOW rather than 6 months to a year form now. So I made the leap. I DO NOT recommend it to everyone else but in my case it has worked out splendidly. By the time my surgery time would of rolled around I had already lost most of my excess weight by instead going with self-pay in MX. It worked for me.
  16. Yes, it is possible, although I have not technically reached my goal I am close. I orignally shot for 180, I soon realized that was unresonable and not easily obtained. I have leveled out at 205 and am what I would consider slender, as I carry my weight well, I always have. So again, yes it is possible and even if not totally obtainable you can get close.

    Post Op Naseua

I was immediately nauseas and was on and off for nearly 2 months. No real pain and no other complications, just felt like crap. It sucks but you'll get through it.

    Bowel Blockage

I would advise (with docs permission) starting a regular regimen of something like Mirilax, I found my solution to be 1/2 cap every morning and 2 teaspoons of chia seeds twice a day make me VERY regular. Surgery and anesthesia does a number on your intestines at times - part of the reason for the liquid only pre-op diet and bowel prep. You were just unlucky. Wish you well friend.

    Tattoo's

Ever consider laser removal? Expensive and painful, I know but why take the risk of making it MORE regrettable? If the artist screws up or you get an infection you might end up with it looking WORSE then you do now.

    I Shopped The Other Side!

I know, isn't completely bypassing the "fat" section and heading directly towards the "normal" section great!
  21. Outrageous! An I only paid $5000 in MX two years ago. I read that in 1990 only about 6 percent of people declaring bankruptcy cited medical expenses as their main debt. Now, 20 years later over 65% of bankruptcy is DIRECTLY attributed to medical expenses. SOMETHING needs to be done.
  22. You're right that was disgusting yet somehow funny as hell. Sorry dude, not laughing at you but at your situation, you have to admit it is a bit comical in a sophomoric kind of way. . To begin with it's not advisable to keep taking meds one on top of the other in quick succession like that. You're lucky you didn't explode or bust something. A better route probably would of been to give yourself an enema, introducing moisture to the problem area directly probably would of made it a LOT more comfortable. Personal lube on the exit hole will also make it more comfortable too. Keep up with something like Mirilax My personal working combination is 1/2 cap of Mirilax daily with 2 tablespoons X 2 of chia seeds, one in pudding another in yogurt. BTW, did you lay a dollar bill next to the log for perspective when you took the picture?
  23. If you're already sleeved then wait till next year's season. If you are yet to be sleeved then ask your doc, I think they will generally say OK at about 6-8 weeks out.
  24. Yeah, nobody was more surprised than I was. At one point in my life I was 6' 2" tall, I shrank over 2 inches. Decompression of spinal discs is one improvement, better posture another, I just could not stand up stright with all that fat pulling me down. Pre-op I felt like a turtle, my chiropractor often noted how screwed up my neck was and is shocked what 2 years and 170+ pounds off has done. I actually HAVE a neck now I have also massivly improved my muscle strength and am now supporting myself much, much better.

    Bowel Prep From Hell

Yeah, some do some don't. Mine just wanted me to use a laxative a couple of times a few days before surgery. It keeps your colon from getting packed up post-op, it is NOT a pleasant experience to have to bear down and push post-op. Don't worry though, This too shall pass
