  1. Welcome and good luck on your further adventure!
  2. As the 2 previous posters have said, yes you will get better. I was feeling like I was going to die after my surgery, then I was afraid that I WOULDN'T DIE All kidding aside, once the weight starts to drop you'll feel so much better that you won't even hardly remember how crappy you felt just after the surgery. We all wish you the best!

    200+lbs to lose

Taken private to a PM, please drop this line of accusation in this post and get back OT.
  4. I was ALWAYS hot, even as a kid and back when I was thins - far thinner than I am now. Even my Mom remembered as an infant I would be bathed in sweat when the weather was the slightest bit warm. As I got heavier my issues with heat and hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) got extremely bad, I would just be sweating constantly even just standing still. Any physical labor would get me drenched and I would often get to the verge of heat stroke, I would slam quart after quart of Water and dump urine like crazy. I would have a fan on everywhere I went - even at night in bed. A ceiling fan in the living room going all the time I was home, a box fan at work blowing on me, and I work in an office. My bed had a consistent sour smell from my sweat and had to be aired out and sprayed with Fabreeze between washings. It was truly disgusting. It hasn't been very warm out here yet but I have yet to need a fan and I often need a jacket or blanket where I didn't used to. We had a cold snap here the last few days and I am freezing. The operation has done SOMETHING to my heat regulation. I am far more comfortable and even cold when it is cooler out. I can't remember the last time when I broke a sweat, even after physical exertion like a brisk walk. In my case, whatever happened is a blessing and almost worth the expense of the operation in itself.
  5. I am about ready to bust - and not from being fat either I started my journey on Dec 6th 2010 at 375 pounds and now not even 4 months later I have lost 99 pounds and am over the half way mark to my goal of 180 pounds! I was going to wait till I lost that extra pound to make it an even 100 but I couldn't stand it any longer and just had to tell everyone. I feel SOOOOOOO much better, BP, blood sugar, heart rate are all normal, cholesterol is BELOW average, back pain is almost all gone, knee pain is a thing of the past, even my sex drive is back too. I know many people start their journey at 276 pounds and I am just starting the second half of my journey. I know I won't lose as fast for this part but know I WILL lose it and reach my gaol or nearly there. Thanks for all your support and kind words.

    200+lbs to lose

No just a frequent contributor. If EVERYONE double or triple posts it is going to get very confusing. Please do not post identical posts in multiple sub forums. People will find your posts just fine in a single forum.
  8. I was not quite there I had 195 pounds to lose and I am already 1/2 way there at 100 pounds down after only 4 months.
  9. My BP steadily dropped as I lost weight. Perhaps you have some other underlying health issue besides obesity that is driving it.
  10. They typically DON'T as the operation is so short that it doesn't require it. It may be more prevalent in women if they do, as it is harder for a woman to go wee while in bed than it is a man.
  11. I'm with Tiff, I am celebrating as I lose, especially doing things that I no longer could because I was to uncomfortable or out of breath to do. Lifes to short to wait for a date to celebrate, celebrate as you're along the journey.

Today was kind of a bad day

Yep, I suspect that it is a combination of stress and sheer nerves. I went through several rough patches and practically bawled like a baby the night before and a fw days afterwards. It's a good relief, you are about to have life changing surgery. You should worry if you DIDN'T get upset.

    Do sleevers vomit?

As is vomiting with excessive food consumption with a NORMAL sized stomach the only thing that has changed is the amount of food it takes to make you vomit.

    Do sleevers vomit?

Nearly 4 months out and I have not vomited once. I've had the rolling hot Water sensation in my throat a few times but it passed, thank God! While sitting in my hotel room 2 days post-op I nearly hurled - and I think it was mostly stress related. It soon passed and I was fine.
  15. Ahem, that's RootMAN, not RootWOMAN
  16. Whoa! Man that's a bummer, we certainly wish you the best. Will say a prayer for you now.
  17. Stick with it girl! "This too shall pass" It may be a few weeks but you'll start to feel better.
  18. I am NEVER hungry for breakfast but always eat it. I usually eat one of three things, a boiled egg, one sausage patty or a Boost! Protein drink. They all taste nasty to me at that time of day. lunch is usually one of the following 2/3 mug of Soup, chili, a piece of fish or other meat, then a pudding cup or yogurt and maybe a piece of munster cheese or a few mixed nuts. We bough a bunch of small Hormell microwave meals that have like 200 cals each and maybe twice a week have one of them for a change of pace. Supper is more of the same as lunch. About 3 or 4 times a week I drink one of those vile cheese whey protein shots. When we go out to eat we order ONE entree and split it, I eat about 1/3 and she 2/3rds and MANY times we can't finish ONE entree and have to take it home for the next day. One place we visit we can actually get 3 meals EACH from ONE entree - talk about portions being out of control! I rarely snack as I just don't want it. I do eat 3 saltine crackers before lunch and supper as my stomach acid seems to flare up - my doc suggested this and the few cals and carbs it gives me are negligible. Once or twice a week I indulge in a diet Dr. Pepper, the tangy taste is stronger than the sweet and it tastes fantastic to me. It takes me about an hour to down a can and I belch something fierce all that time. I really don't like sweets anymore and the few tiny tastes of sweet stuff I've had over the last 4 months taste really horrible to me. I prefer bitter and spicy stuff now. I'm oping to be down in the low 200's by the end of summer, if I maintain the pace I have already it shouldn't be an issue, maybe even reach my weight goal of 180 pounds in a year, that'll be 195 pounds gone!
  19. Well like many super obese I avoided the camera like the plague, I now regret that as I don't have any decent before pictures where I am not hiding behind someone or something. I'll have to see what I can dig up and have the wife take a snap tonight.

    Regrets

My ONLY regret is that I didn't do it MUCH SOONER. I suffered in my fat, high BP, blood sugar all over the place, and other problems - ALL of which have cleared up along with other issues I didn't really think about ( fer instance, my eczema has almost entirely cleared up ). It is by FAR the BEST thing I have ever done in my life. If I had to trade 5 years off my life for 100+ pounds of fat lost I would even do it again.

    Do they know???

Hormonal mood swing normal after surgery??

Same type of thing but in the male too. I was diagnosed with low testosterone a while back and started injections, had VSG surgery and lost 80+ pounds, my testosterone level shot up 8X as much! I was like the incredible Hulk - everything! Doc said it's simple, less of me to dilute the hormone therefore a higher level. Arrrrggghhh! ME SMASH!
  24. Women only! Hokey smokes why didn't you chicks tell me it was women only! I'm outta her . . . Seriously though, there are a FEW guys her, I would guess they out number the men significantly as I would suspect the number of WLS patients are a more women than men. I guess men don't really get into sharing and advice and stuff like that so a forum isn't as attractive to them, we tend to just lie about it and claim all the weight loss was all due to diet, exercise and "will power". . Welcome and join right in, we guys gotta stand up for ourselves.

    Prilosec OTC

I USED too but found it wasn't enough, the doc gave me a script for generic Omeprazole ( https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Omeprazole ) which is the same thing as Prilosec but the strength is twice as much and it finally cut the excess acid down for the entire day. I could of taken twice as much Prolosec but the Rx is cheaper with my insurance. I also find that plain white low salt crackers help sop up the excess acid, a few a day won't wreck anyones diet. Beware of taking Calcium carbonate though, I was popping 6 Tums a day and wound up with kidney stones.
