I vote for Twoterville as well, sounds just odd enough to seem to have a double entendre.

I've had it done a few times, along with a dilation a few times due to a Schatzki ring ( https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Schatzki_ring ). They typically dope you up pretty good and then have you swallow stuff that numbs your throat. It was easy for me. We all wish you well for the procedure AND your new sleeve adventure.

Cheese - always one of my favorites Dark Chocolate - which I HATED pre-sleeve

Well honesty seems to be the best policy, USUALLY. If you love the guy and want to further your relationship then you are eventually going to have to tell him something, and the scars on your belly are going to be hard to explain otherwise. Be wise, tell him you are concerned for not only your looks but your health as well and needed a tool to help you lose weight. You will be restricted for 6 months or so and then after that you CAN eat a healthy portion of a meal - and by "healthy portion" I mean a CORRECT portion instead of the mounds of food we all ate pre-sleeve. So the dining out won't be an issue for long, besides you also tend to enjoy food MORE and the company and surrounds MORE when not fixated on the food any ways. About sex, I would advise at least waiting till after you get out of the recovery room Wait till YOU are ready, most sleevers feel pretty crappy for a while and while they may PHYSICALLY be able to do the horizontal mambo they sure don't WANT to do it. So give yourself a few weeks at least and then go slowly, no gymnastic moves or anything like that.

A little about myself and a ?
Rootman replied to Sandy123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't picture the surgeries limiting your weight loss, now the question about "IN THAT AREA" is due more to your genetic programing than HOW you lose the weight. Your body decides where it will store fat and WHERE and WHEN to put it in and pull it back out. So no one can really answer your question for you. Now HOW IT WILL LOOK is a different answer, as you lose typically surgical scars that may be pulled or sunken have a tendency to flatten out as the sub-dermal fat dissipates. Only time will tell. Regardless of how it looks in the end you WILL reap many other benefits from losing weight and becoming healthier. -
IANAD = I Am Not A Doctor IMHO = In My Humble Opinion IANAL = I am Not A Lawyer

Great list Kelly. Add: SF = sugar free Hey, why not make up a list and make it sticky for everyone to see right off the bat?

Yeah, it's a real b**ch being a sex symbol I too have had a few women comment, sometimes inappropriately about my "figure" and new muscles. I really make sure to let the wifey know that I am NOT encouraging these advances.

Anyone have bad dreams preop?
Rootman replied to Missnurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't say if I had weird dreams PRE OP but get ready for kooky POST OP dreams! It's fairly common for people to have lingering side effects from the anesthesia and pain meds and have totally bizarre dreams from it. -

Anyone have an IVC filter
Rootman replied to Sandy123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If anyone else was wondering what the heck an IVC filter was : https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Inferior_vena_cava_filter No, I don't have one. -
Any one with no hair loss?
Rootman replied to Pagie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no appreciable hair loss beyond that of most 50 YO males do. It seems that it's the same now as it was a year ago. And I know I will get boo'd and hissed at but there is NO supplements that will help the loss, while all of them "sound" good they are all snake oil and do not work. Give it time and the shock of the operation and the massive loss of caloric intake will subside and the hair will begin to grow again - sans what you might lose due to aging anyway. -

You were beautiful by any standards before and simply stunning now. Did you run the 5k with that monkey on your back? -
Sternum pain- normal?
Rootman replied to Yukon Kara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is likely one of two possible things, referred pain or pain from irritation of nerves due to the CO2 used during the operation. Referred pain is sort of a phantom pain, the internal organs are largely devoid of regulr pain receptors, so when they get irritated the "borrow" pain receptors from other areas of the body, usually those closer to the surface. The gas used to bloat up the body and give the surgeon more room to work can sometimes irritate the nerves running through the abdomen, this pain usually presents as a throbbing or sever ache. Unfortunately the only "fix" for either of these issues is just time, since neither of them can really be addressed with pain killers, as the "pain" is not really there. If it persists then see your doc, if it becomes sever then go IMMEDIATELY to an ER. -
Yes, as previously described, you need to walk as much as you can IMMEDIATELY. This will ultimately make you feel better. If all you can do is 5-10 minutes than do that, stop and rest then pick up again.

Congrats! Ain't it great! Keep up the good work!

Does being overweight effect your own personal gravity?
Rootman replied to LadyIvy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think that it actually made a mysterious ANTI-GRAVITY field around me - people would avoid me and give me wide berth when they saw me coming, it was proportionate to how attractive the other person was too -
Congrats! I know what you mean about the chairs - I've ripped more than one of those things up in the past. The cheapy vinyl plastic chairs always scared me too, not only have I broken a few of them but they stuck on my butt when I got up! No more!

It's not ever winter yet and I can't take it
Rootman replied to Shanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try horseback riding - talk about butt hurt - yeouch! I never remember saddles being that hard. -
Congrats on the progress. I too have had more than my share of comments from negative to positive. People can come up with the most insensitive stuff at times. Many things can be attributed to this behavior, as already pointed out jealousy can be a big factor, ignorance and plain rudeness for others. I just let it roll and live my life the way I want to now.

when is it ok to drink alchohol?
Rootman replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it IS a tad early, just because the stomach is not fully healed yet and alcohol might be quite a shock for it so soon. Whether you choose to do so or not please remember to NOT drink to excess, for health and safety reasons. I started out on 3 oz of wine at about 8 months out and had no ill effects. I take red wine for it's purported health benefits. -
Wow! We all wish you the best and a speedy recovery. Presenting NO symptoms is unusual AND scary to say the least.
