  1. So even though the scale isn't going down as fast as I had hoped I can tell a difference in my clothes. I fit into two pair of pants I haven't worn in 2 years and I can put my shirts on straight out of the dryer instead of trying to stretch them out first :). I've still got to get my calories and fluids up though and then hopefully the scale will be a little nicer.

  2. the shrimp i marinated in kc masterpeice carribean jerk and the fish just lemon juice, black pepper, little lemon pepper, worchestershire, and tony's. The fish seems to sit a little heavier but the shrimp I had no problems with. I also got a Ninja blender and it's the best thing on earth. I got a bag of sonic ice and I make slushies (sf tropical punch kool-aid is the BEST).

  3. I'm counting the days til we can have fruits and vegetables. Don't really have any great ideas for now. My favorite thing to eat is refried beans mixed with cheese, salsa, touch of sour cream. I've also had some grilled fish and had some grilled shrimp last night that was really good. For breakfast I ground up some sliced turkey and make mini egg muffins with eggs and cheese.

  4. Getting kind of discouraged...haven't lost anything in like 5 days. I've only lost about 12 since surgery so I don't feel worthy of a 2-week stall but hopefully that's all this is. I really hope I haven't done all this for nothing!

    Question about Pain

In my opinion and experience the c-section was ten times worse than the sleeve surgery. I was lucky too though with my sleeve I didn't have any of the gas pains that some had.
  6. Doing pretty good. The only thing I want really bad is a big Sonic coke..lol. I've had an egg, greek yogurt, tuna, and refried beans. How much can you eat at one time? It takes me about all day to take maybe ten tiny bites.

  7. I am 3 days post op and I haven't had any real problems so far. The only thing that has bothered me is when I try to drink I get this tightness in the top of my throat. I'm wondering if it's just still from some swelling or maybe reflux. I'm leaning more towards swelling because it hurts immediately when I swallow. Did anyone else have this problem?
  8. Hey Renee. I am feeling really good. Haven't taken any pain meds since I've been home except for some tylenol cause I'm having some back pain for some reason. I haven't even gotten close to getting my liquids in cause I think my throat is still very swollen. So far today I've only gotten down one atkins shake. So I'm hoping with each day I can get more in before I get dehydrated.

  9. Hey Deb just wanted to say thanks for all the words of encouragement/support!! My big day is tomorrow at 8:30!

  10. Hey Renee just wanted to say that I hope all goes well in the morning and I'll be saying a little prayer for ya. Guess I'll see ya tomorrow!

  11. Freaking out about surgery. I'm only half way through the day and it's been an emotional roller coaster so far. I'm just ready to get tomorrow over with so I can stop worrying about it. Well I'm off to drink my magnesium citrate!

  12. I've read most people say they have some sort of sign when they are full like burp or hiccup. When/if you do overeat will you go ahead and throw up or do you just feel bad for a while? If you do throw up is it more like you just go make yourself do it so you can stop feeling bad or is it like you have to run to the bathroom? And the bad feeling you get is it more like pain or more like the feeling you got pre-sleeve when you ate way too much? I don't plan on overeating of course but just curious what would happen if you did. Also when you first started eating again was it easy to tell when you were full or did you have problems telling what your "sign" was at first?
  13. How is it going? I get more nervous by the day!

    Chicken....?

My plan says canned chicken at two weeks. "Regular" grilled chicken or any other meats is five months. I think some others have mentioned they could have it earlier maybe at like 3 months. I would just ask your Dr. or NUT.
  15. I've read several people on here talk about the Gas-x strips but when I asked if I was allowed to take them the nurse said that they wouldn't do any good. Since the gas is from when they "inflate" your stomach she said the only thing that would help is just walking as much as possible.
  16. Just wanted to say hello. I saw you were from Bossier. We just moved from there about one and half years ago. I miss it so much, well except for the heat, humidity, and mosquitos...lol. Hope everything is going well with your sleeve!

  17. Has anyone tried the Bariatric Advantage multi vitamin crystals? Just curious what it tasted like.
  18. Hey I saw you were from Liberty. I am in Smithville. It's hard for me to get over there to the support groups as well. Hopefully your surgery won't be too far out. Maybe we can meet up when we feel better and compare notes and support each other!

  19. I've been working out with a trainer 3x a week and doing zumba the other two weekdays. I have been on my pre-op liquid diet for a week now and even with all the protein I'm getting pretty weak. I have 7 days til my surgery so I'm just going to stick to my cardio for the rest of the time and not worry with the weights. I'm trying 3 miles in the morning on Walk Away the Pounds and then in the evenings I plan to walk around the neighborhood or do some Wii Fit while everyone else eats supper.
  20. Went to see Dr. Hotty Hoehn today. He said all my labs were great and I was good to go. He answered all my questions and put my mind somewhat at ease. One week to go!

  21. I hope someone replies to this because I have been wondering this as well.
  22. Girl I am so hungry too!! I hate having to cook for everybody else too, but I just cook it and then go to the gym while they eat. Hopefully since we're getting a little nicer weather I can get outside instead of sitting in and thinking of food all day. Hang in there..I know we can do it!!

    Any WLS book recommendations?

These were recommended to me by my therapist and nutritionist: Mindless Eating. Why We Eat More Than We Think by Brian Wansink, PhD The Emotional First Aid Kit. A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery by Cynthia L. Alexander PsyD (this is the only one that I've read) WLS for Dummies

    "Fad Surgery"

So it's getting closer to my surgery date (13 days...yipee!!) I find myself with a long list of "what ifs" like a lot of others do. One of my many wonders is if this is going to turn out being another surgery like some in the past, a fad if you will. Years ago there was stomach stapling then there's the LapBand which seemed really great but now from some of the stories I've read on here seems not so great. I guess I just wonder if years from now Doctors and sleevers are gonna look back and think "hmm, maybe this wasn't such a great idea after all." I know there is some longterm research for gastrectomies and such but I still worry. I think the whole gherlin thing is probably what bothers me the most. From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, it helps in regulating body temp, growth, and cognitive thinking. Just curious in it's absence how this affects you in the long run especially the cognitive thinking part.
  25. It hasn't been too bad so far. I haven't had any physical hunger just a little head hunger. I have without thinking taken a bite of something a couple times while I've been cooking for everyone else. I can't wait for the day we can eat again! Good luck! When is your pre op with Dr. Hoehn? Mine is the 6th.
