  1. I don't think I would buy the larger size but I am always asking my husband if I am smaller or bigger than someone walking by me. I have no idea how I look. I know I can wear size 16. but don't know what that means.

OMG I do this too! I tell my husband "look around and show me someon that is the same size as me". He rolls his eyes! lol

  2. I've lost well over a 100 pounds since my surgery. I went from a size 28 pants to a size 12. Problem is, when I go cloths shopping, I still go to the plus size section. Just the other day I bought a cute shirt - 3X! When I put it on the next day, it was clearly too big! Am I crazy? Does anyone else not "realize" how much weight they have lost?

  3. Prior to LB surgery, my highest weight was 340. I am now about 219 and I exercise A LOT Prior to surgery, I had some bilateral knee pain but that's about it (I'm hitting 50 this year). The last couple of months I have been experiencing some back pain. I don't know if its because I'm carrying a lot of extra weight up front (boobs and belly skin) or if I'm over doing the exercise.

Has anyone else experienced this? I thought losing weight would help any pains you were having? Any suggestions?>

  4. Hi everyone. I was wondering if others have this issue. Are there foods that you just CAN'T eat? For me personally, I cannot eat, french fries (a good thing), hot dogs and some ground beef. If I even try, it gets stuck and my tum is irritated for the rest of the day. Just wondering if this is normal.

  5. Okay, so I've had 4 fills and one unfill (a few months ago). I had my last fill on August 24. Anyhow, I've noticed the last week or two that I am rarely hungry. I only eat when I'm actually hungry. Is this okay? Someone told me that is not a good idea because that will cause me to store fat. Any thoughts and opinions is appreciated.

  6. Thank you all for your answers - great help! I want to re-iterate that I'm not "hiding" my surgery or trying to keep it a "secret". I just wanted some time to deal with it and get used to it on my own. I guess I should have also mentioned that my MIL lives in another state and I have talked to her person a total of 3 times since we married in June.

  7. I'm very upset with my husband! When I finally decided to have the lap band done, I discussed it with him and he has been very supportive. I had surgery on 9/30/2011. Prior to surgery, he asked me who i was going to tell. I told him I wanted to get used to the idea and "new life" and then would tell everyone. He felt it would be best if I told my adult daughter (in case something happened when he wasn't around). I agreed and told my daughter and my sisters - all of whom have been very supported as well. I didn't want to tell my parents or my sons for a few months. Nor did I want to tell anyone else for awhile. This is a big change for me and I wanted to have time to take it all in. Well, Saturday he informed me that he "decided" to tell his mother! I was absoultely furious with him. I feel very betrayed - i haven't even told my mother! I asked him when he told her and he said a few weeks ago.

So as you can tell, I'm venting. My two questions are: 1) Do I have the right to be upset 2) who have you told that you were banded?

  8. I had my surgery on 9/30 and my first fill was on 11/3. I didn't have much restriction after (I went from 3 cc to 4.5 cc). The last few days, I have felt "tight" and have great restriction. My question is, is it normal for you to have restriction 3 weeks after a fill?

  9. You are only 2 weeks post op... you most likely still have some swelling which is making you not hungry. I wouldnt worry about the food portion if you are not hungry, but make sure you are getting your Protein drinks in and your Vitamins and stay hydrated. You will get your appetite back especially prior to your first fill. I wouldnt worry, its a process and everyone is different. If you are really worried, you might want to give your doctor a call and see what he/she says. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I was banded on 9/30 and am constantly "full" even though I haven't eaten anything. I have a post-op appt tomorrow so I'll see what my doc has to say as well.

  10. I'm FINALLY getting banded this Friday 9/30/2011 :Banane29: Happy Dance Everybody!!!

Anyway, I had my final meeting with my nutrionist last week. She told me there are several foods that folks that have been banded absolutely can not eat (across the board). Just to name a few:

    • Bread
    • Celery
    • pizza
    • Flour tortillas (what the heck, I'm from NM  !)
    • Anything that is breaded

My question is, is anybody able to eat any of hte above?

  11. The one thing I noticed is when I started coming to this site all surgeons are different. It's really been an eye opener. During my pre op diet. I had to stay 1000 calories or under. Protein shake for breakfast and one for lunch with a snack in the after noon. For dinner I could have 4 oz of meat a half cup of veggies and a half cup of starch and lots of fluids. Except for the day before surgery then It was either breakfast or lunch was my full meal and a Protein Shake for dinner.< /p>

Good question! I'm on my last week of the pre-op diet. My diet consists of 2 Protein shakes a day and 1 cup of Soup. I can also eat as much SF Jello as I want and 1 cup of SF pudding. My calories have been well under 1000 a day. I talked with my nutrisionist last week and asked her if I should be counting calories or Protein grams. She said at this point, definately protein grams. I need to make sure to get in at least 63 g of protein daily. Every physician is different!

  12. I'm on day two of my liquid diet.. My dr wanted me to drink Protein shakes from Bariatric Advantage... Day one I was fine. Today I cant get the second shake down.. I want to puke and feel so sick.. Is it the drink or just me??? Should I change brands or is just my body going through food withdrawals?? My surgery is Oct' 6, so I have a long way to go.. Any help would be great.. Thanks

I'm on a 3 week pre-op diet and have to drink TWO Bariatric Advantage drinks a day. I add a bit more than 8 oz of Water (very cold) and use a little Hamilton Beach blender to blend it really well. Then I chug it down fast! lol Seems to work okay.
