Live It, Learn It, and Move On From It
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Raine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Raine! YOU can do it! I love your post, and you sound determined to make a difference, dont let anyone stop you!!! -
Not everyone .. . I can vouch for that. My best friend for 13 years over reacted like a drama queen when I told her I was having WLS. I could have kicked myself in my big butt for even opening my mouth cause I was not going to tell anyone but my sister and of course my husband was with me to every visit. In a weak moment I cracked and shared my secret with my best friend.... as soon as the words were coming out of my mouth I regretted telling her. She insisted I could lose weight through diet and exercise... I can still see her shaking her had no and telling me surgery is not the answer.... UGH... That was December of 2010..... my surgery was in January, she did come and see me when I was home about 5 days, as soon as she walked in the door she had nothing but negative comments, telling me to get up and go walk 2 miles, asking me if I was sore or hurting and was it worth the pain, still shaking her head in discust that I had to have surgery to lose weight. Over the next 2 months there was very little communication between her and I and now its August, I havent talked to her since May..... Before anyone asks or says something - she is 5' 7 and weighs about 125. She always was tall & thin from the first day I met her. Last year she got a personal trainer that she worked with to "firm up"... she now works out 4 times a week, she is totally into eating health food, etc... you would think being my friend that we would have even more in common now.... but something sure did change... Sorry for rambeling but I wanted to make my point, yes... I totally believe you could lose friends as the wieght comes off, you are changing, you are not the same person anymore.. etc.

Congrats! It is a rush isnt it? I guess it is moments like this that keep us going, pushing to fight the battle. Thanks for sharing! -
Hi! Keep in mind your hormones are raging as well.... I had a tough time dealing with the hormonal changes, I was very moody, moody, moody! I would cry over a commercial on TV or if you dare said something the wrong way, I was a tiger growling at the top of my lungs... At my 6 week check up I brought it up to my doc that I am wayyyyyyyyyyy to moody. He explained to me about the hormonal changes that occur with the surgery... I worked through it, I still have days that I am pretty touchy for no reason at all... Just thought I would mention it to you.. As for filling your time that was spent on eating, trade it for exercise! Or go on line and find low carb high Protein recipes for something you could make for you. I find my computer is now my best friend, not food! I read up on weight loss, low fat recipes, body make overs, I have 3-4 blogs that I love to follow (the world according to egg face is wonderful)... I could spend all day on the computer! Good luck in finding what works for you!

Diet Soda, Carbonated Water question
To Be Thin 2011 replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANK YOU!!!! I so appreciate this post as I am a big carbinated Water drinker... I ran into a bit of a rut with crystal light and was having trouble getting my daily fluid in... I do crystal light, but at times I want the fizz, I want to drink the carbonated water. Since trying the carbonated water I am hitting around 70 - 90 fluid oz a day with my fluid, so it has really helped... -
4 weeks out and a little frustrated
To Be Thin 2011 replied to cindy lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Hang in there and work through it... make sure your calories, carbs, Fluid intake are in check... exercise and your body will catch up and show a loss. I have had my ups & downs and when I look back at monthly loss, I am o.k. with what I am seeing... you will be too...dont get discouraged, follow your doc's plan and it will happen! Good Luck -
Before getting sleeved in January I had read, read, read,,, anything and everything I could about WLS. I had read how people get so hung up on the scale, typically weighing themselves everyday and how frustrating it can be. I decided to only weigh myself once a week... every Tuesday. I weighed myself this morning and I have officially lost 90 lbs in 7 1/2 months!!! YEAH!!!! I know there are others that have just totally awesome stats, but for me to actually LOSE weight is great, and to lose this much weight - I am beyond words! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!

Awesome! Congrats for you!!! and YES, that was a wonderful feeling to hear the news that your all set & approved... Next step surgery date, and your PATS date and soon you will be making the best choice you could make for yourself! Congrats again!

Feeling discouraged
To Be Thin 2011 replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hhmmm are you watching your carb intake? Between calories and carbs it can really throw you off.. I have hunger issues if I let carbs sneak in... Hang in there, hope it gets better.... -
Diet Soda, Carbonated Water question
To Be Thin 2011 replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink the Wal-Mart brand "Zero Clear" - It is zero everything (caffene, calaries, sodium, etc... It does have 8 vitamins and Taurine for energy... it is a "sparkling water" --- I love it, my husband says it is way too sweet, but he doesnt like my crystal light either. I have not noticed any difference in hunger or weight loss by drinking the sparkling water. It does help me get my fluid intake in and gives me another choice other than plain water or cyrstal light. -
Excess skin question
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Paola's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have asked questions about the sagging skin.... I am being told your age, amount of weight loss and skin elasticity have a huge role in how our skin rebounds after losing wieight. Moisturizers, lotions and creams certainly help as well as exercise to firm/tone --but in some situations there is nothing but surgery that can help the sagging skin. -
Food suggestions??
To Be Thin 2011 replied to To Be Thin 2011's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I am curious how the carbs are for you? I have not yet had any bread, rolls or buns....havent touched them cause of the unnecessary calories & carbs.... a grilled cheese sandwich sounds wonderful and english muffin with peanut butter... OMG.... but the carb issue is a concern, I have really been trying to stay away from the carbs... ugh.... dont they leave you wanting more? -

Scared to start Soft Foods
To Be Thin 2011 replied to CaliforniaJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 months out and still have days of difficulty with food sitting well with my tummy! When I find something that is good Protein and sits well in my tummy, I tend to stay with it! Fat Free cottage cheese.... I eat every single day. I love it.. but, I cant do yogart... have tried several different kinds of yogart and just cant. I cant do a pot roast or steak but I love beef Jerky.... It is totally odd what does and does not sit well, or taste well now... chicken and turkey have always been good for my tummy and protien/calories/carbs... so I stick primarily with Chicken & turkey... rotissere and sometimes deli sliced... it works for me! You will find what works for you by trail & error! Refried beens, eggs and Protein shakes are still part of my diet! -
