Gallbladder Problems After Gastric Sleeve Surgery...
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Kayla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Foxkins... I have my blood panels every 3 months, next one is not due until January... but all in the past have been fine., With being at the ER twice in 5 days, they have tested me for heart related issues, not sure if my blood was tested for the elevated white cells, but I will check on that tomorrow with doc. I have had no change in bowel or urine and no temp, no lactose problem... I do take previcid as needed... I havent had an episode since Sat morning,,, so no further trips to the ER, will be following up with my doc tomorrow.. Thank you again for this info, I appreciate it and will be more prepared in talking with the doc tomorrow,, -

How Much Have You Lost after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal is to hit 150 pounds, which means I need to lose a total of 184 pounds. My weigh in day is this Saturday - I will be at 11 months!! Below are my stats for the past 10 months -
Hi Debi.... my surgeon and nut never touched on carbs either. In reading posts here on the forum sometimes there appears to be a lot of focus on carbs and it made me really worry I was doing something wrong! I went back through my booklet given to me from the hospital nut and there was nothing in it about counting carbs or even limiting carbs. I actually called my nut to verify what I was to be eating and counting, etc. My nut & doc advise has and still is "protien first" always ensuring I get my protien count first...I had to get that back in my head along with the other steps/suggestions in my booklet. I am not advocating one way or another on this topic... I am just suggesting to stay focused on what your doctor and your nut has advised - after all, they are the paid professionals that we should be receiving & following advise from... :aureola:

What Is The Time Frame Of Gastric Sleeve Growth Again?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ABSOLUTELY!!! Everyone -- please re-read this word to the wise from "feedyoureye" She is unquestionably correct!! I am 10 months out and I can eat 1/4 - 1/3 cup of cubed skinless chicken breast - because it is so dense it fills me up. Other foods - yogart, cottage cheese.. I can eat 1/2 cup and be looking for more! -
Slow weight loss
To Be Thin 2011 replied to NewKat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is hard to keep from comparing ourselves to others on this forum,,, I know it is cause I do it! I have to constantly remind my self that one year ago I was a 330 pound woman ...no matter how slow I am losing now, I still am losing, I need to be happy with that. Good Luck to all of us "losers" slow or not, we are heading in the right direction! -
Tastes buds change?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Jen11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm. I am 10 months out and two of my favorites pre-op I still cannot tolerate: Coffee & potato chips I was a pot & half a day coffee drinker, seriously.. I loved my coffee. I was sleeved, avoided coffee, got healed up, doc said o.k. to one cup a day and WOW.. I cannot drink the mud! I have tried several times and just cant tolerate the taste. Potato Chips - my best friend.. Ruffles & I had a nightly affair pre-op. Post op, I must admit I have tried to test the waters and would eat one...the first couple of times I spat it out, could not get past the taste of grease. I tried a couple more times and same thing, all I taste is grease and salt. YUCK... Ruffles & I are no longer freinds. -
Are you loosing "inches" instead of "lbs"?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Sleeve2B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of the time YES.. when I was not seeing the scale drop I totally could notice difference in my body changing, and losing inches.. Great that you caught this and know inside you are o.k..still losing, just not showing on the scale! Measure yourself once a month at least... it is great to see the inches go down!!! -

Anything you wish you have known/done before surgery that you didn't?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to OilSooner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish my head would have caught up to my surgery (actually there are times I am still waiting for this).. The mindset of "having" to eat really messed with me, to the point I was trying to force feed myself in the first few weeks out... How silly in hindsight now to think that going 2-3 weeks with water/protien shakes and few protien meals would not be enough! I was too accustomed to eating 3 big meals a day... Enjoy the first 12 weeks... your are healing and do not force feed yourself despite what your head may be telling you!!! -
Sleeve regret?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to aroundhky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you Mark, No buyers regret for me!!! I love my sleeve! -
Hello, Last week I did the 5 day pouch test just to get back on track and get rid of carb cravings!!! On the web site was a recipes tab which I found an awesome Lo-Carb pumpkin and Sausage Soup....!!! Before you say yuck... keep in mind it is lo-carb, it is rich in Vitamin A, Thiamin and B12.. 1 cup has 15 grams of protien!!! I did play with the recipe: switched sausage for turkey sausage, switched heavy cream for fat free half & half and switched sour cream for fat free sour cream!! Does not impact Protein at all, just cuts some of the fat out. Below is the link, this recipe is quick and easy and even my kids loved it!!! http://5daypouchtest.com/recipes/days1_2a.html#pumpkin

Weight Watchers
To Be Thin 2011 replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know this sounds crazy,, but I loved going to Overeaters Anonymous! The group I attended was structured, the leader made a point to set you straight if you gained, and the entire group was so supportive if you lost or gained. They had monthly goals with great incentives, it was just an amazing group! I lost around 70 pounds in year! The building we held meetings at stopped allowing outside functions, we could not find any alternative, tried to a couple different options over the next month but it just did not work out and our chapter disolved. I have been looking for another local chapter within a 1/2 drive from my town but cannot find one... If any one reading this post has an opportunity to attend a meeting, please go.... it is very, very inexpensive, weekly weigh in's, motivational support, works off the same life lesons as AA. -
Is 8 months out too late?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to MustangAli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great post Thank you Ali!!! I am looking at 9 1/2 months post op right now... and was doing fairly well, until the last month... NO loss at all.. my scale has been bouncing around the same 5 pounds for the past 4 weeks, it is so extremely frustrating. I feel I am still doing good on food choices, however, I have fallen off track totally on the excersise - the treadmill and I are no longer friends! I also have started socializing more, going out on the weekends and drinking diet 7-up & flavored vodka..... ugh... Ali,,, a lot of what you said I too can totally relate to... so thank you to all the other posts - I was worried I have maxed out my weight loss... I just need to suck it up and get focused again... -
Help! Nausea everyday!!!
To Be Thin 2011 replied to monty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Monty! Yes.. I had nausea that started about week 2 and lasted until week 5 or 6. No rhyme or reason with mine, it could be after I ate, or just before, morning, afternoon or night... I could have it one day and not again for 3-4 days then get it twice in the same day... Sometimes I could ride it out sitting in a chair, other times I was right down on the bathroom floor. I had it at my 2 week follow up, my 4 week follow up - - my doc calmly told me it would pass as my tummy healed and I got more on regular food and it did. To this day I have no idea what brought it on,, but it did pass as I healed up. Hang in there! I also posted response to your question on my profile.. Looking forward to seeing your sucess! You will do fine! -
Hi Monty! I am wishing you all the best, stay determined to follow your doc advise to the letter and you will do awesome! I know this sounds odd, but my first meal is something I still eat.. it is a frozen breakfast bowl! Gosh, I cant remember the name brand, but it is well known name! It is turkey sausage, eggs, cheese and potatoes. I did NOT eat the potatoes because I read too much about carbs

when is it ok to drink alchohol?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said 3 months, tummy needs time to heal. I waited 5 just cause I was scared I would goof something up! -
LOL!!! Reading... I love to read!!! I like your post! I just plugged what I ate today into Fat Secret.com... I try to keep a daily running total of my protien, carbs and calories...and excersise anyway.. I have lost 103 pounds, I still have 88 more pounds to lose and it is coming off very slowly now. However, according to Fat Secret.com if I continue eating and exercising like I am recording, I will be at my goal weight in 5 more months... Now that I can live with!!! One day at a time works great, and sometimes, just sometimes it helps to look at the big picture - for me, it helps me to know what I am doing today, in the long run, 5 months from now I am going to be so much closer to were I want to be!!! Good Luck to you my friend

Discouraged
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Lisa the loser's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Lisa,,,, Vent away! It is hard not to compare ourselves with others.... I am happy with how much I have lost, ....BUT....it is very hard for me to try to stay away from the long range thoughts... like most people on this forum have 100 pds or less to goal.... I started my journey at such a high weight that it can be overwhelming to me that I have to hit a 180 pound loss... I look at others and they hit thier goal with a 60 pound loss or a 80 pound loss...and it gets to me... again, it is so very hard not to compare ourselves with each other..but we have to try and ya know what... YOU are losing, so that is great! Keep pluggin along and you will reach goal, we just got keep fighting the fight!!! Good luck to you my friend. -
Seminar to Surgery?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have BCBS,,, I attended my first consult on 10/4/2010...had to have 2 minor test, pyhc consult (self pay BCBS did not pay for pyhc. consult) - Was approved sometime around the first week of December, the ealiest my doc could do the procedure was the 3rd week of December... I opted to wait until January not only cause of the holidays but because I have $1,000. deductible.. that goes from Jan 1 - Dec 31.... why would I pay the deductible in Dec only to turn around and have to pay again in Jan if something medical was needed. It made more sense to have surgery early January pay my deductible once, right off the bat in January, then be good for the rest of the year not having to pay anymore $$$$ on medical.. give it thought.... -

Hi Marie! I hear ya sister!!! It is an ongoing fight to lose every pound... It can be very challenging, especially when you read others posts that weight just falls off, or they are not ever hungry and have to "remind" themselves to eat! LOL!! For others it is just not that easy. Keep fighting... you only have 48 # to go to goal and you can do it!!! -
HELP! STEROIDS!!
To Be Thin 2011 replied to Forensikchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diagosed with same thing... My doc told me totally never, ever go barefoot... not even around the house, I am to always have on good arch support sandals or shoes. I purchased Nike sandals to wear around the house and purchased custom made insoles for my shoes, It took about 2-3 weeks but the pain finally left and I have been problem free for almost 3 years now... I know I can never wear flip flops again, I am always in good arch supporting shoes and have purchased a couple of pairs of sandals with proven arch support for plantar fasciitis. Check out "Foot Smart"... I get the catalog at home, but they are on line as well. I bought my shoe inserts from them, I bought special arch support ankle socks from them and all my shoes come from them! Expensive, but I do not have the terrible pain in heal / heal spurs anymore.
