I think you most likely found a place here with us. I know I have:D . Everyone pretty much said it all, I will just add that most of the best places to get it done offer, actually require, you to go to a free mandatory information session. Most of these questions are answered there. I went to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. they might be less expensive than NYC, but I really don't know as insurance covered it. they would be a lot closer than Mexico! I asked about the post showing after you get skinny and there is a lower profile one that they can switch out later if you find it a problem. I wanted it the 1st time but they have their reasons. It's a little harder to find and fill so they don't want it till after you lose. But I look at it as a LOT less offensive than all the humps, bumps and rolls I currently have, I mean really!!! lol. no, IT dosen't hurt now, they try to place it where it's out of the way most of the time. it hurt more than the band placement at time of surgery. BUT , it's very "do-able" and they give you great pain meds if you need them!! I was completely off them 3 days later. I haven't told any one other that my wife, naturally!, and just a select few at work that I had to in order to get the time off. It's not like the bypass, you will not lose so fast that you have to explain other than you are REALLY trying hard and eating less, all true! Anorexia.........I don't think so!!! If that were ever a problem I know I would't be here lol ! No regrets :whoo:(and no hair loss ) Eddie and Sean :canada: way to go boys , ain't it grand! set the date yet? Glen and I are very happy for you! -

I have 2, a fantasy "free-bird" for my honey, and a humming bird, and lots of flowers, the garden grows from time to time. Glen is sleeved on both arms with oriental buddas, moths, tigers, and LOTS of other things , Water falls, fish, etc. and the legs have flowers/vines, etc. up both legs but not sleeved, thank the goddess! and a small one, the origional on the back tribute to her parrot! imagine if she had kids! Pam, I looked up what the "eye" was , way cool, any other symbols that would be good that we could combine?? I really , really want to go:car: to P town! we got married on the side of the court house in a little court yard. I'd post a picture if I knew how to up load it from my easy share to here. I can't take time off in the summer, our vacations are always in October after things quite down. Stevee, that is great news! -

 I'm confused! I thought lots of service "men" got tattoos, you know, they go to shore, get drunk (?)or so some claim, get laid and get a tattoo! or was that just in the movies?! No, seriously, is that rule for everyone or just the women?:woot: I actually have a small fairy drawn that I want sometime. I just don't know where I want it. most of mine are on the left breast and extend to the shoulder. I wanted to see it! I think I can save most of it but the "girls" will probably hang to my knees:pout:gona have to hike um up!:Banane20:lol what is your job? I thought I needed to cover mine too but I branched out a bit and a little peeks out depending on the shirt. no one has objected and actually it has helped break the ice with some clients! I can cover it if I need to. I didn't find it all that painful. that depends on where you put it! wish I were going on vacation!!! I really need one.........have fun , I'll be thinking of you all. -

you guys are just kids! I graduated in 1971:hippie:! Pam and Juli and wives too ! When you go to ptown, you should check out the tattoo place on Commercial St. " Mooncusser Tattoo Studio" ( moomcussertattoo.com ) it's right next to a dance bar for us ladies, that I can't remember the name of. Next time we go back, for our anniversary, we want to get matching tattoos. That is if we can find anyplace to add it to Glen's already extensive artwork ! I have plenty of space left . have you found a place to stay yet? -

Kity, that's great on the wt. loss:clap2: . my 2ed fill is not for 3 weeks, I am really making an effort on the better choice front, it ain't easy !!! -

So glad you had a great experience. Mine could have been better, but maybe because it wasn't everyone else's will be ! I was basically okay but had a much shorter stay than usual, they had no bed on the floor for me! Surgery at 7pm, discharged by 9am. not my choice!!! the Dr. was very upset at how I was treated. (at Lahey) But, my self determination kicked in and I was better for it! anyway, :welcomeB: to B-land! -

:help: So I give up! I need a smart person. I would love to post a picture but I can't figure it out. :embarassed: I got into the user pc above and it says to up load it from your computer, BUT, it doesn't say how! I have kodak easy share but how to get it from there to here is a mystery to me!! :) Anyone?? Eddie, I am truely impressed that you were able to get through Harry Potter that quick! I love Harry but I got to admit I have to wait for the movie, I can only read about 10 pages before I'm asleep on any book, but I can do any movie even the Titanic and be okay till the end. go figure. PS, craving is gone, (was good though!) No fault, I love coconut and has been a craving in the past with no mention from anyone. I don't dare mention my other one, not the usual, not sweet, found mostly on the cape! not good for the band! oh well, that was a past life :rip:. -

hay everyone, thanks, but I don't pretend to be an expert nutritionaist. It's just years of reading about all this stuff, and being in health care I'm expected to know it! Pamala, the "9" is the 1g of fat= 9 calories. protein and carbs have 4 cal. per 1gram. Eddie, no problem on the sodium. I think lo-carb is fine. but the 30 g on the fat isn't considered "lo-fat"diet. it is what the heart people tell us EVERYONE should be eating. I readup on the coconut oil, I hadn't actually heard much about it. what are you using it for??? get going how?? there must be better ways. it's a wopping 117 cal per tab!! the site I went to said they suggest 3.5 tab. a day ? that would only be 410 cal. Let me know how that goes. It actually sounded very tasty:cool:! :whoo: on the wt. loss for both of you!!!:clap2: Pam and Juli, you two will almost be in my back yard going to P town! and P.S., my name is Jo but cheri will work too! Dammm, 1 minute to Monday morning! have a great week, oops, it is monday morning..nite all:notagree -

Eddie, just a few facts to throw in the pot. looking into a few figures, you want to shoot for aprox 30 fat grams total! that and no exercise seems to be the main issues. I can't stress enough the importance of weight training mixed in the bag. My kid had been losing wt. (40 lbs.) this past spring (a 28 yr.old straping 6'1" very good looking , you'd love him kind of guy.....but very straight!) by wt. training on a bowflex and eating losts of chicken and broccoli, no band. I used to have a bowflex and did well when I used it. Of course I got tired of doing it , stopped ,( gave it to my other son ) and also stopped losing. I know, I know! Anyway, no more than 25% of your calories should come from fat. 82g x 9= 738 cal !!! 30g=270cal or 25% of 1080cal. you can do the rest of the math. your body can't use the fat except for small amt. for vit. absorbtion and it helps your skin some, so it stores it for the future! you also didn't mention how much salt/sodium you are getting??? need to keep that under 2400 mil. Now, I'm very happy for your hubby, but he has a big head start on you AND he had a lot more to lose...plus I recall that at one point you said he had stopped losing also and then got another fill, 3rd I think? So, stop this foolishness......Ok?! ya, time for bed :notagree. -

Ok, Eddie, so a couple things to consider. First of all , you made the right choice!!! No RNY bull, that would not be any better from what I've seen with others that I know who have had it. that said, you should probably be checking in with the nutritionist. they make me go there first before the fill. My past knowledge would tell me that you might be lowering your metabolism by not exercising for 3 weeks. combind that with the lower calories and the body is conserving them for the next depression. You also don't really have that much to lose which always makes it harder. Also , fat makes and stores fat. fat cals. are not equal with protein. extra protein is not stored in the body. Fat and carbs are! You need to lose the high fat and eat more protein. My nutritionist told me to lose the shakes. Not sure why, but I have and now am starting to lose again. I think they are more cals than we need. How are you doing with the salt?? High sodium will retain fluids in the cells and will replace the fat with fluids that will make it look like you haven't lost. Back to the exercise, you also said that you were not weight training at all, well, exercising with weights burns fat and preserves muscle so that nearly all the wt. you lose is fat and not muscle. it's the muscle that burns the fat, if you lose muscle, well, your got the picture, its harder . the wt. training also decreases your insulin levels so you are in better balance and thus.....lose easier!!! you don't have to kill yourself doing it, just do it! :kiss2: it's a bitch I know, and now that I've said all that and know it to be true, I got to bite the bullet and do it my self!!!:eyebrows: Hope this helps.....:cheer2: -

Way to go!:clap2: 48lbs !!! Nice to see you here. Steeve and Kat , Congrats on the approvals, won't be long now, seems that is the hardest part. Lucy, good luck on the fill, just had my first (late) What a difference !! I was :hungry: all the time, just like the same old battle all over again, I got a few years on most of you so it's been a LONG one for me. I actually did manage to lose a bit over time, my all time high being about 75 lbs more than now. Anyway, I got the same 10cc band, it holds 4cc total, but they start slow. not everyone will need the 4. seems to me that the fill is what it is all about. without it is like trying to run your car with out gas! gone through too much to get here to be struggling now! -
My favorite was fish "chowder". very simple to make fresh. one pot, very little "mess" Saute 1/2 chopped onion in a little olive oil Add 2C. Water 1 fish bouillon cube (Knorr's) Add and cook till almost soft: 1 med. peeled potato cut in 1/2" cube Add on top of the potatos and broth to steam: 1 cod fish filet, aprox 1Lb. cover cook till done about 10 min or less, till flakes appart. Add a splash of evaporated milk to taste (1/4 C.?) eat as is in later stage,or puree with a hand blender for a very nice cream of fish soup. this got me by a lot and is good Protein

Thanks Eddie. I wish you could have too. Guess I fell in deep! oh my the junk emails I'll probably get now! No it's not a comfortable shoe, but it is a familiar one. that is why the ( :rolleyes) roll eyes was used in the first place. My very, very EX was into it and "freak" is very fitting there, but that is only one of the reasons why EX applys and I am certainly NOT into it. Really, can we just forget it! I really should not have opened up the old wounds, :cry -

I for one am glad to hear someone bitch, so I don't feel so all alone! I'm doing about the same, only nothing has moved for a month! yet I know I've no one to blame but me cuz I canceled my 1st fill. I had good reason at the time, but I really didn't think it would be this hard without it. anyway, that will all be better soon I hope. got my apt for Monday!:clap2: I'm not sure it will ever be second nature, not after a lifetime of getting here. But, maybe, we can always hope. As far as the weekend goes, same old, same old.:cry work, work, work....that better get better soon too! Just need to sell my house , get rich and retire or :bandit. My wife is anxious to get on with "our" life without the added stresses of necessary additional people around (renters ) and we continue with that goal. It's our main sorce of conflict. anyway, that is a long boring story not worth getting into. Just want you all to know , that even though I just found you all, you do all feel like family, and although I may not always write, I do check in often and am SOooooo... glad you are all here  to all. Pamela, you gorgous thing, thanks for the picture!!! I got to be sure my honey (all 108 lbs. of her) doesn't see that! Happy weekend all! -

HI Lorna, haven't been in this thread for awhile, but I can tell you that I haven't experienced much at all. It's been rather sympton free except that I do sometimes have "cute" little burps when I drink too fast and they don't last long. really, I don't sound like a beer slugging truck driver( sorry if I offend any beer drinking truck drivers out there! I was married to one in my dark past so I know what I speak of!!) I think you tend to hear only the bad things experienced , like anything else. if it were like that few would want this. My only problem is that my 1st fill had to be posponed due to my location and lack of vacation/sick time to take the day off. Not a good idea. :hungry: all the time now. wasn't hungry at all nearly till the fill was due. oh well, haven't gained but stopped losing, but that will all be better soon!!! Good Luck -

just a quick note, if you plan to drive from Boston it will be longer than an hr., it's an hr. once you hit the cape. I think there may be a boat from boston that would be quicker. My wife and I got married there last October! it was just a day trip for us, as we live in the area. I wish we could suggest some places but didn't stay in any. We really did like the justice of the peace if you were so inclined!!:kiss2: maybe if I figure out how to post pictures ...........later, Oh, you can log on to Home: Provincetown, MA on Ptown.org for info. now, for this site, it is doing weird things, I haven't been getting emailed either, and that is how I link directly to this thread. so I clicked on an old one to get here and it didn't log me in as a member, that was a first. had to go look my password! and many thanks to Eddie for starting this thread, wish I'd found it sooner, it's great , feel really conected. no special plans for the weekend, have to think about that one! -

Eddie, know what else is weird? just since yesterday, everytime I click the "post reply" when I'm finished, instead of keeping me here at the site, my screen says "done" but is totally a blank white screen and I have to start over from my email to get back! WTF???:speechles any thoughts?
