  1. I had my lap band for almost 2 years without ANY issues. In Dec. 2010 I got the stomach flu and nothing the Dr. gave me would stop my vomiting. The ER was the only place where I got help; some kind of IV meds stopped it. My Dr. told me I had slippage and the band had to come out, no repositioning, no taking my fill out, nothing but removal. After 10 days of him letting me vomit my guts out, I had it taken out. I asked before I left the hospital when I could eat and what my recovery diet would be and he says you can have a steak tonight if you want one, you can have anything you want. So that tells me there was no damage so why did it have to come out? I have researched and most of what I see is most of them having to come out due to damage, any idea from this not medical expert community? I see him this week about getting it put back in but I am so afraid he will tell me I can’t have one ever again. My insurance has a 20k limit so I will have to pay anything over the 6,500 left in my bank, but it will be worth it. I am up 20 lbs since Dec. I try to follow the same rules and amounts but I am just starving ALL the time since it came out. I would love the sleeve but insurance will not pay for that and the bypass scares the hell out of me. Has this happened to anyone else where they just let you puke, rip it out and kick you out of the hospital?
