What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

Exactly, I'm over six years out and I can eat absolutely everything I could eat the day before my surgery (had I not been on my pre-op diet of course). Oh, with the exception of pancakes!! OH GOD pancakes... I can eat bread, oatmeal, waffles, french toast but a few bites of a pancake and I'm wishin I was dead. lol Deal is, if I could put all I eat (when I eat) into a measuring device of some sort I bet the absolute most I've eatin since 1/27/11 would be 2 - 2 1/4 cups (tad more MAYBE, Chili night who can blame me? lmao). And I'm DYING when I get close. But I have to be mentally sidetracked for that to happen. Trust your new stomach, they CAN and to a point WILL stretch (some) but you would have to over eat SO much and suffer SO much for it to stretch enough for you to start gaining back again.
  2. Surgery date: 1/27/2011 I did great with my routine for a good while. If I didn't remember to get my food my wife or kids would. Then life sped up as the weight came off, I started focusing on the exercise and eating right. I never noticed that I never had hunger pangs or stomach "growling". No, I do not have an eating disorder. I have my phone set to go off to eat (but I can't exactly carry meals with me to appointments which I have a lot of, mine or kids), which I do eat. I often forget when home if I'm busy cleaning, I'm the house husband lol. well ff to now. I've passed my goal by... 30-35lbs or so. 200 was goal and I'm 166ish. I haven't felt a bit of hunger in so many years I honestly don't even remember what it feels like anymore. I do not regret the surgery one but as I was dying from my weight. I just miss being hungry lol

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

I pretty much break all of them but I'm also 6 some years out. In the beginning though I didn't follow the drinking 30 before meals. I suffered, but always broke it. And ALWAYS drank a ton of coffee, I don't function without it. More coffee than any other liquid. Coffee all day every day.
  4. What could happen if someone slacks on the protein drinks less than a month out from surgery? I have no excuses except that I forget to make and drink them. And when I do it is maybe once every couple days.

    Secret Sleevers

I've not been here long but have read through a lot of the sub-boards and noticed a big occurrence, secret sleevers. I am wondering why people are so secretive about having the surgery? I for one and proud I decided to take the bull by the horns and do something to save my life. I'm not bashing or judging these people, just trying to figure out the secrecy.
  6. Kind of down and happy. Went to post-op appointment Thursday and found out I've only lost a little over 30lbs since just before surgery. My surgery was Jan. 27th. Feel I should have lost more since then.... Still 30 is better than 3 :D

  7. Gym yesterday morning, something called Power Pump last evening. My big butt will stick with the gym for now.... OWWWWW

  8. Finally below 300lbs for the first time in 8yrs!!! :D 295!! :D :D Lost 60lbs total since pre-surgery diet started August 2010 :D

    Slider Foods

I've seen a LOT of references to "slider foods" on the boards here, what exactly are slider foods? And are they bad or just kinda, eh?
  10. Late to bed, early to rise, must be sick in the head, man I'm not wise...

    Post-Op Hunger Poll

Is physical hunger with the sleeve the same as pre-surgery (I've probably asked before, just can't remember)?

    Post-Op Hunger Poll

Physical hunger, unless it changes after surgery, is completely gone for me. Now head hunger on the other hand.... It's a decent on going battle
  13. What's the difference between being addicted to food, emotional eating, eating out of boredom and plain bad eating habits? Is there much of a difference? I can't tell which category I am in. I have an idea but.... Oh, and I know I posted a response WAY late on this, but I just found it
  14. Scales mess with my mind all the time. Last Wednesday I was 304.4 at the gym my wife and I are joining but today at my Dr. their scale says 305.2. My last post-op Dr. appt was right after reg Dr. and there was 3lbs diff between their scales. So I am not going to put a TON of faith in scales in this journey or I will choose one scale and use it to judge.

    protein shake prep

I have become accustom to the shakes accept for the foam aspect. I use milk and a small personal size blender to make mine (no nasty clumps) but a result is it foams up. This foam is just about impossible to handle for me. So I am wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to make the shakes without or with as little foam as possible? *L*

    Eating Concerns

I am 2 weeks and 4 days out and I am on regular foods now. Every time I eat now though I think that I am overeating, actually I am scared shitless that I am. What food I do get I get very small ammounts, 1 cheese stick, 1 pudding cup or if it is a homemade meal it is 1 tablespoon and I never finish what I get, but the pudding or cheese stick. (none of that is at the same time mind you). Has anyone else gone through this? Is this somewhat expected?
  17. My Dr or Nutritionist told me not to eat bread (I can't remember how long) for a good while after surgery because of possible "balling" issues. My question is would really toasted toast be ok? I am almost 4 weeks out.

    Eating bread

Well see that's kind of my thing. The nutritionist at the required "class" talked a little about breads but never quite (that I remember) said why it's not so good. Is it the carbs? The doc said I could start experimenting with diff foods and such. So I thought I'd ask And it really has nothing to do with wanting to hear. I can honestly take or leave breads. Just sounded kind of good this morning for a change.

    Gaterade G3 protein water

I thought we were supposed to stay away from or highly limit sugar in our diets? At least that's what I remember them saying in the WLS class I had to take in order to be approved for surgery. Am I wrong in this?

    What can happen if....

No, no real problems with the shakes except the foam (which I got some help with). I just forget to make and drink em. I am on solid foods now not sure If I am getting in the Protein I need that way or not. I'll just have to find a way to remember and get the habit going (did SO well after surgery)... Thank you all

    Chest Cold with Cough

Personally I'd say it would be about 50/50. When I went in for my pre-op they asked me if I had had a cough/runny nose/heavy breathing (while sedentary) that is out of the ordinary for me. I said "No, why?" and they said because if I did it may affect my surgery date because it could cause Anesthesia complications. of course it may be different for your Dr.'s.
  22. Was going to start at the local hospital's gym tomorrow but I now doubt it. Three of the 5 people in this house have Influenza B :( LOVE flu season
