Keeping the band a "secret"???
gigi8 replied to kity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my immediate family-husband and kids,my dad, sister, brother and 2 friends- that was it! My main reason was that I was afraid if it didn't work then I would be judged. If all goes well, I might tel them at a later date. -
Hi Thatgirl- I was thinking about you. First of all congratulations on being banded. I was banded on 1/30/07 and felt the same as you do. I can honestly say that it gets better. With each passing day, it gets better. I had a tough time with the gas pains. Hang in there- Gigi:)

Hi TracyV- It is funny how all MD's are different. The yam sure does sound good! Do you feel that you have restriction on your band? I feel like I have restriction on mine. Hope you had a good day with your horse. Take care-Gigi:)

Hi TBO7- I was banded on Jan.30th @ about 9:00 am. I was in the recovery room by 11:00. I did stay overnight in the hospital. I had a bad 2nd day (31st). I was very uncomfortable and the gas pains were the worst. I was crying in pain- it was that bad! Then yesterday I felt a little better. I did not take my pain meds because they made me nauseous (I did not want to vomit). I took liquid tylenol and was fine. I still have gas pains, but not as bad. I am having a hard time getting my fluids in because it seems like whenever I put anything in, I get gas pains. I am not hungry at all at this time. I agree with you about the fact that we are all different and our pre-op and post-op diets are different, and how we react to the surgery is different. Personally, I thought it would be alot easier than what it was. It is getting easier now.Best of luck to you.Keep us updated-Gigi

Hi TracyV- I am so glad that you are doing well. I have to do clear liquids for 1-2 weeks with the addition of protein of some sort. I am burping alot though. I hope that doesn't hurt the band. Take care-Gigi:)

Hi! How are you? I am also 2 days post band. I have no appetite whatsoever. I am having a hard time getting my liquids in. I've only had about 16 oz in today. Every time I drink, it seems that I get gas pains. Anyway, I can't wait til the gas pains are gone. Gigi:)

Hi! I hope all went well for you. I've been thinking about you. I was banded on the 30th and doing ok. If it wasn't for the gas pains, I'd be great. Looking forward to hearing from you. Gigi:)

I went in @7:30 and came home around noon time the next day-Gigi

Hi TracyV! Glad to hear that all went well. I am doing pretty good. It's just the gas that has been a real killer. I was awake from 9:30 til about 3:00 in awful pain from the gas. Then it simmered down and I was able to sleep for a few hours on my side with my hot pad. It is a little better today. I am trying to get my liquids in. It is very hard though. Hope you're feeling better today-Gigi:)

Best of luck to you! My thoughts and prayers will be with you-Gigi:)

Hello everyone! Well, it is finally behind me. I am with my band. I went into the hospitl @7:30 am, I was taken to the OR @ about 9:15 and was in recovery around 11:00. I didn't get up to my room til around 2:00 though. I guess the floor had some late discharges. Anyway, I was doing well til midnight. I received Morphine for pain and after 20 minutes, I broke out in a rash from head to toe. I was so itchy and uncomfortable and even a little nauseous. Needless to say I was up all night. I went home @ noon and am doing OK- just very sore mainly in my upper abdomen. I've had some H2O and ice chips, a cup of broth and a few sips of decaf tea. I am so full. I think that the fluids have contributed to the gas, but all in all not bad(for now anyway). I just wanted everyone to know that I am doing well and am on the road to recovery. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow. I need to go for a walk. Thank you to everyone for all the good wishes-Gigi
