    Liquid Preop Diet Journal

The unjury is ok - it's not great but nothing is. :heh:I liked the choc, hated the vanilla, and the unflavored is ... unflavored :heh: My doc suggests using Medifast but I didn't care for it and it was about 5-6x as expensive!! SF Carnation Instant Breakfast is on my list too but let's compare: 1 Injury choc shake w/ 8oz skim milk: 190 calories (100 Injury + 90 milk) 29 grams Protein (20 Injury + 9 milk) 17 Carbs (4 Injury + 13 milk) 1 Carnation w/ 8oz skim milk: 150 calories (60 Carnation + 90 milk) 14 grams protein (5 Carnation + 9 milk) 25 Carbs (12 Carnation + 13 milk) I don't think I could drink all that Carnation. I did make a vanilla (I got a box of vanilla and 1 of choc) one tonight with 3 frozen strawberries and it was really good - but VERY sweet! I get a craving for something sweet at night. Things I've experimented with adding to my shakes and even if you stick with the Carnation you could too: cinnamon, 1/4 banana, a few strawberries or blueberries or chunks of peach, sugar free choc sauce (the liquid kind to make choc milk with. 25 calories for 2 tablespoons) and/or teaspoon sugar free Peanut Butter. My calorie goal is <1200 and >85 grams of protein. I'll be your diet buddy if you want

    Switching Insurance Mid-Stream?

You shouldn't have any problems - just make sure that your surgeon is in-network on the new plan and there's no WLS exclusion. I switched my insurance plan right before I finished the pre-op testing because my original plan had an exclusion. My employer let me switch plans, they rock!!! I found a new plan that does cover it and my surgery is 8/27/07!! Good luck. (I had to do a 6 month diet for my new insurance - I knew about it in advance and started it right away)

    Liquid Preop Diet Journal

I'm on day 1 and we have the same surgery date!!! I did surprisingly well today and even walked for 45 minutes tonight. What kind of shakes are you using - maybe you should switch to something you like better? (I'm using Unjury) I can have blended Soups (and broth) pops, Jello, pudding, yogurt, and applesauce. Maybe my diet is a little more liberal than your's? You can do it!!!!!
  4. Wow! That's rough. Only 8oz of water for a week!? You are going to be so dehydrated and getting no protein! That doesn't seem very contusive to healing. (PS. I wouldn't eat raw eggs. Imagine getting salmonella right after surgery? Yikes!)
  5. That's probably the stupidest post I've ever read on here!!! First you compare smoking pot to smoking CRACK and then advise someone to DRINK alcohol over smoking pot .... I stopped smoking about a month ago because I was warned by my therapist that they will do a drug test with the pre-surgery testing, for the anesthesiologist. I've going to give myself about 2 weeks after surgery before I light up again ... I think I'm looking forward to that more than anything else :heh:
  6. I was surprised to learn from the OR nurse today that my doctor doesn't give a 'script for liquid pain killers. I'm a little nervous about being able to swallow pills in the days following surgery.

    I'm on for August 27.

I'm being banded the same day!!!! I have an appointment with the OR nurse today to go over all the details for surgery. I'm supoose to start a liquid diet on Monday of next week but I'm going to try to start this weekend - I've been eating REALLY poorly the last 2 weeks Good luck! Did you check out the Support Group Forum for August yet? I think there's at least 5-6 others being banded on the same day.
  8. I'd like to read this book - I've heard a lot of good things about it. IMO - $18-20 is an expensive for a paperback!! I checked ebay and a few used book sites but couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone have a copy they'd like to get rid of? I can pay you w/ paypal and I have an account with UPS or will include $$ for shipping. (If I can't find a used copy, is it worth the $20 ?)

    Rash under breast relief

I use the deodorant trick for the inside of my thighs - if you're going to be some where on a hot day and you have to do a lot of walking - it works great! <O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

    Does GHI HMO cover fills?

I have a PPO plan and haven't been banded yet but my doctor's office said GHI does cover fills. (this was just a comment in passing so I don't think they were referencing my specific plan)

    Jealousy

Wow!! That's really really f'ed up!!! I don't even know you but I am so proud of you for being able to overcome that kind of abuse!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> My boyfriend is a "chubby chaser" not exclusively but a plus size woman is his preference. At first it took me awhile to wrap my head around it and I really questioned if I was just a fetish to him. Was there some kind of underlying issue or reason for his preference? Even though every person on the planet has a preference, including myself .. how can someone find thick legs, a round ass and a soft tummy attractive? (how messed up is that - I've been so conditioned to hate my "fat" that I can't even see anything attractive about myself or anyone my size. The number we do on OURSELVES is almost worse than what other people have done to us. I think some of the biggest negative experiences I've had in life due to my weight, have been brought on by other fat people!!!) <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> We've been together for 3 years now, had quite a few outside challenges in that time and I know he loves me for me and am even in his head enough to understand the whole thing now. I guess I still think about it a little - and am REALLY worried now that *if* I am able to lose the weight ... will he still be as attracted to me as he is now? <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> He is my rock and my biggest supporter right now. I think his love and our relationship, is what really made me want to do this - I want to live a FULL, LONG and healthy life with him.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I'm going to need some serious therapy ... :heh:<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>

    Editing = TONS of Smilies?

Any word on when this will be fixed?! It's a real pain in the ass!!
  14. Thanks guys I'll probably skip it. I've been all over this forum for almost a year, in addition to a few other sites. Sounds like it would just be repetition for me.<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  15. Thanks Mandy I don't want any complications on vacation!!
  16. Have fun!! My surgery is 8/27 and we're going to Disney on 10/21. We're staying off site in a townhouse (with a full kitchen) so I plan to bring food with me. I don't want to have to worry about finding something to eat in the park.<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p Where are you staying? We’re staying at Windsor Hills. 5 miles from Disney – 3br 3bath Townhouse with a private splash pool. It was cheaper than a hotel!!<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p My doctor does the first fill at 6 weeks - that would put me at about a week before my trip. I'm thinking I should wait for my first fill until we get back. I don't want to have to worry so much about food choices and I hear flying makes the band tighten up. <O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p What do you guys think?<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Ten years with the Lap Band

I'm surprised to hear that - I've called them a million times and probably bugged the shit out of everyone in that office - lol. Never experienced any negativity. My BMI is about 47. Did you ask them about fills? I'm 99.9% sure they do not do fills for patients from other doctors.

    Dr. Geiss, Long Island

    Surgery 8/27/07 w/ Dr Geiss! woo-hoo!!!!!

    nutritionists and therapist

My insurance didn't cover either. Both charged a $250.00 cash payment for the consult!!!!! It was a one shot deal with both. I'd like to continue to see that therapist actually. She charges $100 per 1 hour session - I can't afford that right now. I have to pay for fills out of pocket.
  21. That's funny you say that ... My boyfriend wants us to move to Austin, TX (once the real estate market comes back and we can sell our house on Long Island) I love that area and am totally on board but told him I would have to lose a significant amount of weight first or I'd never be able to handle the heat - LOL! Good luck everyone!
  22. I have a self pay policy in NY that covers it but they are only in NY. What state are you in?

    frustrated with insurance company

When I switched insurance companies recently, they wanted to see that I had 18 months of continuous coverage previously. Other wise they can deny things deemed "pre-existing" I think 18 months is the norm. How long do you have to wait for coverage? 12 months?
  24. The unjury is actually pretty good! I like the chocolate with 1/4 banana and a tiny bit of sugar free Peanut Butter. They make an unflavored one as well. I did not like the vanilla at all!
