What is he cost of a self pay band. I am not getting a good vibe from my insurance company.
CAROLYNFC replied to skikyd's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was self pay and mine was $18,000.00 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Included one year of fills. Then I pay $500.00 a year for follow up visits. And I go to see my doctor. I think it helps with my success. -
I was banded 2 years ago. Everyime I get to a certain tightness I get acid reflux really bad at night. This happen before and I had fluid removed. Gradually adding it back. At that certain point again acid reflux. About 6 months ago had to have all fluid remove because had a slight slip. Gradually have been adding fluid back. Went 2 weeks ago and add another .2cc and now acid reflux. Taking Prilosec but at night it is awful. Last night so bad it ran out of my mouth. Think I am going to have to stay at 5 cc in my band and not get any more fills. I hope this makes some sense and is their anyone else who has had this problem. Calling as soon as office opens and getting fluid out today.

CAROLYNFC replied to CAROLYNFC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Called the doctor and I go at 10. Something has to be done!!! -
I have that problem some time. It is usually when I have drank really fast and took a big gulp. I have had water come back up because I drank to much to fast. Try very little sips and see what happens.

place ur bad day living with the band
CAROLYNFC replied to jenc87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had back trouble for years. It is one of the reasons I had LapBand surgery. Several doctors told me if I lost weight it would help my back. 75 lbs lost and I still have back trouble. My family doctor is a great doctor but his bedside manner sucks. He tells it straight and doesn't care if it hurts your feelings. Find a new doctor. Find one who will understand how hard you are working to lose weight. Find one who is willing to help you not degrade you. Keep your head up and keep up the good work. -
I had acid reflux about 6 months ago and had most of the fluid taken out of my band. Gained about 10 lbs. I have slowly had fluid add back in . I had .2 put in on Monday. For the last 3 nights acid reflux has started again. It usually happens about between 2-3 in the morning. I am very good about not eating 3 hours before bed. I drink plenty of water to make sure pouch is washed out. All things I have been told to do. My band is no where near as full as where it was when I had fluid removed last time. I wonder if the acid is coming from my belly being empty? I did have a very slight slippage last time (it took two doctors to figure it out). I take prilosec every morning. Any advice would be great!!!!

16 months out and having a few problems with the last 25 pounds
CAROLYNFC replied to BeckyJane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am having the same problem with losing my last 15 lbs. I have not heard what the doctor told you about the new study. But keep this in mind. The band is a tool to help you lose. That tool has helped me lose 80 lbs and you 65 lbs. I would say that is all you need to know. Keep plugging ahead you will get there!!! -
Weight Loss in the first month post op
CAROLYNFC replied to cole&matt'smom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually gain 5 lbs the first two. My weight loss did not start until after that. Doctor said it was my body healing from surgery. After that lost about 8-10 lbs a month for the 6 six months. 80 lbs over 2 years. -
New Pain post op day 5
CAROLYNFC replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would vote for a gas pain. I had these several times after my surgery. And 18 months later I still get them sometimes if I had eaten a little to much. -
After 18 months post surgery and 80 lbs worth of success I may have a cookie but I know I can stop there. I would never want to regain my weight. I find eating 1/2 of a treat takes care of the urge and then I am done,

Has anyone ever been told you can't use an inversion table with lap band? Just bought one but never thought about if I could use it or not.
-
It is a table where you hang upside down. It is suppossed to be really good for the back. I suffer from lower back pain. Every doctor I have seen said weight lose would help my back. 80 lbs. lost and still have back trouble.
-
Glad to know there are many out there that feel "Fat" like I do. I have lost 80 lbs. and gone from a 22 to 12. But I still look at my self as over weight. I also here from my mom that I have lost enough weight and I am starting to look stringy. ( What ever that means) I think I still have a big belly and big thighs. But sometimes I look in the mirror and say to myself Girl you have come a long way give yourself a break.

It Is Like I Never Had Surgery Sometimes
CAROLYNFC replied to prettysmart1913's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you getting enough protein? That will help keep you fuller longer. I am 18 months post op and if I don't get enough protein I get hungry. -
I am having the same experience right now. All of sudden I got to tight and had to have fluid removed. I have gone back to making sure I get my recommended protein. I even have a Zone protein bar and protein shake for breakfast. It is helping keep my weight the same. Not losing but not gaining either. Good Luck I know how hard it is when you can anything you want!!!

2 Month Band-Iversary....happy With Where I Am At.
CAROLYNFC replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 80 lbs in 13 months. I am so happy with my results. The difference in the way I feel is unbelievable. I have not been excercising like I should. I try to walk a few days a week. My life is so busy with a 4 year old that I don't make time to excercise. The best arm exercise I have found is good ole push ups. They work the whole arm. I also haven't had but 3 small fills and fluid taken out 2 times due to a stomach virus. Some people just don't require fills. Good luck. -
I was banded 14 months ago and have lost 78 lbs. About 3 weeks ago I started having acid reflux like I did when I weighed 233 lbs. It seems to be when I lay down at night and it does not matter if I ate 30 minutes befoe or 4 hours before. I have this gurgling in my throat and then the acid comes up. It is keeping me from sleeping. I did a 2 week course of prilosec when it first started but still having it. Last night I slept propped up on two pillows and it made it a little better. Does any one have any ideas or had this happen to them. I have been so successful with my band up until this happened.

Acid Reflux 14 Months After Surgery
CAROLYNFC replied to CAROLYNFC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To follow up. I called my doctor at 11:30 a.m. this morning and I was in her office at 1:00. She took out 1cc of fluid and told me to use Prilosec for 2 weeks and I go back in a month. She thinks a major vomiting event 3 weeks ago has irratied everything and I should be o.k. I have drank water and it feels better already. Thanks everyone for the comments. -
Give it 4 days and then go get a little taken out. You shouldn't be feeling tight and slimming. Sometimes just a little removed will make you feel better.

Banded May 4 And Dying!
CAROLYNFC replied to Tawni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you have a hernia repair during surgery? If so you will experience some chest pain that feels like something stuck. Mine lasted a couple weeks. The pain got a little better everyday. Good Luck and if worried call your Doctor office and discuss with them whats going on. Good Luck -
Surgery In The Am :-)
CAROLYNFC replied to SabrinaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be surprised if you have some pain after you get home in your chest area. Having the hernia repaired adds some pain. I had this done and my doctor told me I would experience a little more pain. Nothing to major! So happy you are on your way to a new you. Good Luck. -
If I am constipated I experience pain in my left side. It feels like it is near my port. Maybe that could be a problem. But please get checked out.

So Much Harder The 2Nd Time Around??
CAROLYNFC replied to DaBlockzPRbabii's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
O.K. First I want to tell you what I learned. You need to up those calories to at least 1000-1200. You will not lose any weight if you don't get some more calories. That was the biggest peice of advice I received after being banded for 4 months. A year and 2 months later I have lost 75 lbs. and try not to let my calories go below 1200. Good Luck -

When you start to lose you won't remember the pain. It's really not that bad. Good Luck....
