Has anyone actually failed at this?
samnyc replied to debgwoody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mmmmm....Chalupas.....Taco Bell. "Used2b575lbs" - It will be completely your fault if I end up at Taco Bell tonight, for the first time in ages. -
There probably isn’t any 'typical' loss to expect. There are published averages of around 60% of your excess weight in the first year but there is a lot of variance as you will see on this board. Just as another data point, I have lost 124 lb since my operation on 11/22/2010 (I was at 497 the day of). Good luck with your journey.

This is true of course

Very cool! Congratulations! Feels awesome, doesnt it? I've lost about 114 lbs now. Can't wait to get to 150, then 200 and so on.

I'm about 3.5 months post op now. I did not hit a week long stall but did have periods where there was very little weight loss, but it does seem to even out over a few days/weeks. I had a hard time figuring out the quantity earlier as well. I actually bought a food scale so I could measure my 3-4 oz of food. That helped me get an understanding of how much an ounce or 3-4 ounces was. I also started splitting my meals into two servings, by only putting 2 ounces or so on the plate in one go and taking a 30 min break between the two servings. That helped with the accidental overeating. The food you can hold does go up as time goes by as well. How many calories are you getting? Eating too little can cause a stall as well.

Congratulations and the best of luck! Keep up the positive attitude and good spirits! -
I usually have filet mignon. My wife is the 'Top Chef' in the house but I know she marinates it overnight (in yogurt and spices) and then cooks it in a non stick pan (without any oil). I can eat pretty much anything now. Some items bothered me the first time I had them (bread, beef) but nothing too serious and then over time I had no problem with them. I've never tried any soda, sweets or heavily fried stuff after the operation so I can't speak to those.

Here is mine (I'm approx. 14 weeks out). B - Scrambled or boiled egg (one egg white only) L - 4 oz. grilled chicken or shrimp (beef once or twice a week) Snack 1- 1 oz nuts (love pistachios) Snack 2 - A fruit or one whole wheat toast with cheese or hummus D - 4 oz. grilled chicken or shrimp I usually keep my daily input to 500-600 calories, Protein - 60-70 grams, carbs and fats to under 30 grams.

I weigh 400 lbs...will this help me?

Ha Ha..thats exactly right. I go through that as well. Sometimes I get too excited about my 100lb weight loss and have to reground myself in how much there is left to do. It's a marathon for us, not a sprint (even though I'm looking forward to actually being able to sprint one day!). -

New member here, and pretty much in the same boat. I was sleeved on Nov 22, 2010. I was at 497lb the day of sleeving and I'm at 394 now. Its good to see someone like GOGiants keeping up the weight loss (those are impressive stats!). Thats one thing I have been concerned about, the rate of weight loss falling as time goes by.
