    Ab workouts?

Oh yeah! I'm sure you're all clear for sit ups by now! If it's getting tight though, I might ask your Dr... It's probably nothing, but it's better to ask in my opinion! And no sit ups forever? Yikes! I'm sure she'll be OK to do them at some point in the future! We need to tighten the muscles up some how!!

    Ab workouts?

I'm almost 3 weeks post-op, and I was told NO to any AB exercises. Because the muscles are still healing from the port and the surgery. I don't think I'll be able to do them for another 2ish weeks. However, I want to do ab work outs SO bad. I've never wanted to so bad in my entire life!! haha Did you ask your Dr if it was okay? Maybe see what he/she says. The tighter feeling might be additional swelling? That's what I was told that could possible happen since it's not totally healed yet. Be careful!!!
  4. I had my two week post op appt today! Things went so great! I'll be getting my first fill in 2 more weeks! This is apparently 2 weeks sooner then normal because I'm healing so well! So EXCITED!

  5. Had a bad day today... questioned my choice to get banded. Might of (well did) eat too much. And to top it all off, I'm lonely. I feel like I haven't been able to hang out with my friends since my pre-op diet started which was about 3 weeks ago :( :(

Corona and lime with the Band?

As far as I know, we can still drink. Probably a few months after surgery or when the Dr clears you though. It won't be the same as bypass people where they get drunk quickly. We just have to be mindful of drinking too quickly and calories from liquid.

  8. This is great! Thank you! I was banded 3/29 and get so annoyed when I see people being pessimistic about the Band. It'll work if you WANT and MAKE it work!!! This doesn't mean eating and drinking like you did before! Thank you!!!!! Congrats on your success!

    Pain around Port area

I was banded on 3/29 and I too have the discomfort. It's mostly when I lay on my side. It feels like something (port) is digging into my organs and ribs I'm glad to hear other people having this pain, and that it's normal. I thought I was losing my mind
  10. Glad to see/hear things are going well! Things with me are going pretty good, starting to add more food in and exercise in. Still out of work for another week or so, so I can relax and finish healing up. I'm still sore sometimes. And the weirdest thing, I can feel my port when I lay on my side! I hope when I'm smaller I don't feel it even more! That'll be uncomfortable!

  11. My surgeon's program requires that EVERYONE see the therapist. She has to clear it. Basically she wanted to make sure I understood the surgery, what it would mean. If I had a support system. Did I understand this wouldn't solve the problem, but instead provide me with a tool. I think it was good to know that even post op if I wasn't feeling great I could go back to her. My surgeon recommends to everyone a group of doctors to get all the pre op stuff done because they are family with WLS and know what's involved. Good luck with all your pre-op testing!!
  12. How are you feeling?

  13. I'm not sure if Hartford is too far for you, but I had mine done with CT Surgical - They have offices all over. The Dr's names are Dr. Papasavas and Dr. Tishler.
  14. 1st night since surgery where it looks like I won't be using my pain meds to go to bed :) yay!

  15. After reading that Gas-X helps the annoying gas pains I tried some. We'll see how I feel! Crossing my fingers because even at 5 days out I can't handle this gas anymore!

    Soon to be Banded

Hi Saundra - Looks like today you start your pre-op diet. Good Luck! You can do it! I promise it'll get easier as the days go on. Everything went well for me. Just a little trouble in the hospital, but we think it was due to my pain meds not reacting well after surgery. I had a high fever and very high heart rate. I'm still very sore and gassy. But each day I'm feeling better and so far today I feel the best, as I've taken no pain meds yet!
  17. Hello- Yes everything went well. I had a little trouble while I was in the hospital. I had a high fever and high heart rate. My face was also really flushed. It was thought to be the pain meds, and they were switched and everything seemed to get better. Other then that I've just been dealing with being really sore and really gassy :( Thank you for checking up!

    Soon to be Banded

I googled how to add it. But it's really easy... if you just go to one of the ticker sites (I used http://www.tickerfactory.com/weight-loss), and follow the steps, it's really easy. Then you just add the code to your signature. Each time you update your weight you'll can get a new code from the ticker site, and update your signature. Hope this helps!

    Soon to be Banded

Hi Saundra! I am having my surgery 3/29. I'm nervous but very excited! So far, all I can say is do what the Dr's and their offices tell you to do! I look forward to hearing more about your journey! Good Luck! Kate
  20. Hi Everyone! I'm new to the site. I began the journey last fall, and officially started the process to get my surgery date on 12/16/2010. This past week I got my surgery date! 3/29! I start my pre-op diet this week. I'm excited and nervous! I look forward to hearing everyone's stories Kate

    lapbands and relationships

You know, since starting this process of getting the surgery.. I wanted to find someone to love me for me from the beginning because I would know that they really wanted me for me. But hearing all the stories mentioned above, doing this solo (with my friends and family of course), might not be so bad! I'm not sure I would be strong enough to deal with my new life and a troubled relationship should something bad happen!
  22. Hi Adriana, I'm scheduled the day after you! I'm nervous as well about getting sick and throwing up. It's probably my biggest fear! I've asked my Dr's office many times about what makes me throw up, and what I've basically heard is that each person is different. Some foods might upset me, that won't you. Also eating too much and not chewing well enough like someone else mentioned. I'll be looking forward to seeing you post while you are post op. Maybe we can compare! Good Luck! Kate
