Anthem Blue Cross Employers Funded Insurance
KimberlyB replied to lolamadora's topic in Insurance & Financing
I don't know about Anthem Blue Cross but my husband works for Union Pacific RR and has United Health Care. I was told that I WAS preapproved for everything and had my surgery in January of 2011. Since then I have had all my follow up fills untill today! Today I went into the Apple Valley office and found out that my insurance company has NEVER made a single payment! Not on my surgery, the pre tests nor the follow up fills! I have spent hours on the phone with my insurance company and with 1-800-get thin over the last year and still have not been able to get my surgery paid. The insurance co tells me that the billing office hasn't sent me all of the required paperwork, tests ect... and the billing office keeps telling me they have. I had to sign papers for 1800 get thin to take my insurance to court about 6 months ago. Today I needed a fill and couldn't get it. Somehow my port has moved and the plat side that the needle goes in couldn't be found by the Dr. that was there today. I couldn't have aflourescopy to find it and to check on the position of my band because of the none payments by my insurance. I am now in the middle of a war between the two and I can not get the care I need! GREAT! I don't know what I am going to do. -
I am asking God to bless my weight loss! My body is His temple and He deserves a healthy one ! So I am praising Him for every ounce I lose!

Hi I am Kimberly, I am so very happy with my Lap-Band . It was hard at first because I am allergic to opiate pain relievers and could only take Extra Strength Tylenol for my pain relief, but I am doing well now. I walk every day and do barbell exercises for my arms every day. I am joining a gym as soon as I get the all clear from my surgeon! I just had a hysterscopy/D&C and am having a hysterectomy on April 1st so my recovery time is being extended . I am so excited at the thought of joining a gym, I am having a hard time waiting ! I have lost 33# so far, I started at 187#, I wear a 12-14 now, where I did wear a size 20. I am 4'10" tall. My surgery was on Jan 31st, 2011. My goal weight is 105. Remember I am short and have a small frame! I have had no nausea or vomiting. I follow the diet plan to the T! My biggest problem is I have a tendency to eat too fast. I stick to 1/4 cup total intake. But I get uncomfortable sometimes because of eating too fast. Today for the first time I got the hiccups! So I backed off and had some protein shake for dinner to let my stomach and band calm down before morning!

Good for you! I was not anxious either! I was so excited it was silly! I had played the yo yo game so long that the thought of getting off that roller coaster and on with my new "life" was, well exciting ! I had no problems with my surgery at all, I am 6 week post op and doing great! I wish you all the best with your surgery and new life! It is all well worth it!

Hello. Are you watching your salt intake and walking every day for at least 30 min? Your weight loss though seems right on schedule for the period of time over all, that you are talking about. I lose about 2 to 4 oz every 2 days myself. Good luck to you.

Greetings! On pre-op diet...surgery date 3-28-11
KimberlyB replied to Preemiemom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Adriana, I just entered my 6th week, post op! I have lost 33 pounds so far! I started out at 187 and am now at 154. Size 20 to a 12-14. I am 4' 10" tall. It has been well worth it to me! I did not cheat on my pre-diet, like you, fear kept me from it ! But I am happy I didn't. I had no complications during surgery even though I have micro vascular heart disease and have a past stroke history! I won't lie to you, I had a lot of pain, especially the first 4 days after wards, but I am allergic to opiate pain medication so I did the surgery on Extra Strength Tylenol! The post op diet the first two weeks is not a lot of fun, Clear liquids then thick Soup style foods/protein drinks! But the time flies fast and the third week you start adding real foods! I would still do it all over again! I have had NO nausea and vomiting, BUT I adhere to the diet plan completely! It you do that, I can safely say you will not have any problems either. The two friends I have who did not adhere to the plan had the nausea and vomiting! I also take Gummy Multi Vitamins every day and supplement with 1 Protein drink a day split between meals as part of my liquids to make sure I am getting enough protein and vitamins every day. I wish you all the best with your surgery!
