    Photo Update

So I've been really bad at keeping up with everything going on the site, but since today is slow, I thought it would be a good time to post some before, and current photos I can't say there are many before photos roaming around that include the waist down, but here's what I got...

    Thanks so much everyone!
  6. I used to have pretty bad acid reflux, especially at night while sleeping. Since surgery I haven't experienced any...until last night. I was sleeved mid May, and am currently on Prevacid. I have been taking it every day and it's been working great. But yesterday morning, I was soo tired, and cold in my office, I caved and had a cup of coffee. Last night, well this morning, around 430 am, I woke up to a choking feeling, and there was acid in my throat, I had to get up and cough it out, then drank some water, finally had to take a few tums, which helped a little, but the acid came back slightly and I continued coughing for another 15 minutes, before being able to fall back asleep. Has this happend to anyone else before? Do you think it was from the coffee that I had 17 hours earlier, or do you think it is something more serious?

    What will I do now?

Honestly, I was the same way, I love to cook, I love going out and trying new food. But after I was sleeved, I wasn't hungry at all, and whenever I eat, the tiny amount I get in, makes me so full that I don't even want to think about food for the next few hours. I guess I have just lost my apetite for food right now, because its hard to put so much energy into something that your new tummy might not agree with. I'm hoping that in time, I will be able to eat a little more (I'm only 3 weeks out) but the last thing that's been on my mind is wanting to eat. I literally have to force myself to eat sometimes. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!

    First Mistake

So last night as I was making my mashed cauliflower, I caved in a tried a few skittles that one of my roommates had lying around the house. Boy was that a bad idea! I spent the following three hours doubled over in pain, feeling nauseous, dizzy and weak. I couldn't find a comfortable way to lie down, every couple of minutes my abdomen would shoot with pain, nothing could have fixed it. Eventually after about 2 1/2 hours, I was able to convince myself to vomit, and slowly started to feel better. Lesson learned, no more sweets for me!

    First Mistake

It's called Dumping Syndrome; it's prevalent with bariatric patients from what I've read. I think it affects everyone differently, and different sweets probably cause it. Skittles are all sugar so I'm sure they would cause more damage than say a cookie or something. I am 12 days out; I was sleeved on the 11th.

surgery is done May 9 ers

So Happy to hear things went well! I will be joining you on the losers bench tomorrow morning!!!!
  14. I've been so busy for the past week (flying home last minute for funerals, and work) I haven't really had time to think about surgery. This week has gone by so fast, and I can barely beleive that in 6 days (May 11th) I will be having surgery. I'm starting to freak out a little bit. I want to make sure that I have everything done regarding pre op testing and insurance. When I went to see my Surgeon Monday, he looked at everything and said I had everything done, and that the partnering Hospital would be in touch with me to let me know what else needs to be done. Since my Surgeon contracts with the hospital it all seems kind of confusing to me. So I've called the Hospital, set everything up with pre registration, and now just spoke with the Nurse in pre admission. While talking to her, she actually told me my surgery will be in the morning, not the afternoon like I was told. She also told me that I did have to go in for pre op testing. So now that's scheduled for tomorrow. Now I'm a bundle of nerves. Has everything actualyl been taken care of? Someone please ease my racing mind!

  20. I'm looking forward to be able to go for a run with my dog To fit comfortably in an airplane seat, not feel guilty that I'm invading my neighbors space, AND be able to put the table down! To buy knee high boots! Even the Extra Wide Width ones dont fit these calf's of mine To know what it feels like to be full To cross my legs, even sit on the floor indian style To have more than one or two options for stores while shopping for clothes!
  21. I'm going to be sleeved in a little over a month, and know that Protein intake is VERY important after surgery for a healthy diet. I have been vegetarian for a few months now, and have no plans to go back to eating meat. Are there any fellow vegetarian sleevers out there (or any one really) that can give me some advice for alternative methods of getting enough protein besides Protein shakes? Thanks!
