40lbs lost yet I dont see a thing!
Fessie replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't agree more about using pictures to see a difference, that is really the only time I can see the difference in myself. I am two years out and almost 90 lbs down and I still see the old me in the mirror, hopefully one day we will see what everyone else sees when they look at us. I also agree to use the way your clothes fit and the sizes that are changing. Good luck on you journey and get to taking pictures!! -

I would say to check with you doctor at least by phone and go to liquids for a couple of days to let the swelling go down. You are probably swollen in your band area from the initial episode and the each one after that has just irritated the problem, hopefully after a couple of liquid days you can move to mushy and soft for a couple of days and then resume as normal. I hope everything works out for you soon!

This is Leslie (Fessie) checking in this week. Weight on Jan 1 - 245 Weight on Jan 8 - 243 Weight on Jan 15 - 243 Weight on Jan 22 - 243 Stayed the same again but may have found out why. Went to the doctor to have blood work done and my thyroid levels were out of whack so we have adjusted my meds and started over on trying to get leveled out. The doctor says that the weight should start coming off again when we get everything leveled out again. I will just be patient and wait, I am excited that I haven't gained any weight back!! Today is my 9 month bandiversary!! -

I had to share my excitement with folks who would understand...I kinda felt like the Progresso Soup commercial where the woman calls about her old jeans fitting and the man just doesn't get it when I tried to share my excitement with my shopping friend today. I went shopping today with some of my Christmas gift cards and just for grins I tried on a size 18 jean and they FIT!! When I had my surgery on April 22, 2011 I was wearing a size 26 so this absolutely made the first day of the New Year great for me. I can't wait to see where I might be on my 1 year anniversary after the success my band has helped me with so far. I am hoping that all my fellow bandsters have a blessed and skinny 2012!!

Will banding work if I have Hypothyroidism??
Fessie replied to jsea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am also hypothyroid, on 200mcg of Synthroid daily. I haven't had to adjust my dosage yet, but go back for blood work in September, so maybe then. My loss has been slower than alot of others on here, but I am losing. I am down 39 lbs since starting my pre-op diet and 22 inches. Good luck on your journey!! Keep us posted on how you are doing. -
how long were you in the hospital? out of work?
Fessie replied to Sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Friday, out-patient basis. I was home by 1:00 pm from my 8:00 am surgery. I took a nap and then was walking the neighborhood around 6:00 that evening. The soreness was awful on Saturday, but Sunday I was sleeping on my side again and having no trouble getting in or out of bed. I went back to my desk job on Monday with no problems at all. Good luck on your journey and let us know how you progress. -
I had Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield True Blue PPO and got my approval 4 days after everything was submitted. Good luck in your journey!!

Hello to All, I will be 6 weeks post-op tomorrow and have only lost 12 lbs. I know that averages out to the 2 lbs per week that my doctor wants me to lose, but it just seems like for the past week since I got my first fill that things have slowed way down. I am losing inches and that is a good thing, but would love to see some more lbs go away forever. I am measuring my food, eating between 800-1000 calories with lots of Protein, drinking almost a gallon of Water a day and working out in some way everyday. I go back to the doctor on June 14th, I assume for a 2nd fill. I am also hypo-thyroid and realize that this will affect my weight loss so my PCP is keeping a very good check on my levels and dosages to try and minimize my thyroid destroying this weight loss effort like it has so many others. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions on what I might be needing to change or add. Thanks in advance and thanks for all the great people on this forum for sharing their ideas and experiences with all of us newbies.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I bet if you measure you will find that you have lost inches and are toning up since your clothes are loose now. I am often hungry too, I just deal with it as long as I can then I eat a stick of string cheese to get me thru til my next meal. Good luck with your journey!!!

I'm sure you will get unstuck soon. It is so hard to go for days without seeing a change on the scale, but I am sure things are changing in other places. Inches are dropping and muscles are building. Good luck with your journey and I am sure that the lbs will start disappearing again soon.

That is very good to hear, I currently have 2 cc's in a 10 cc band. I go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks for another fill, maybe then I will notice a difference. Good luck on this journey, I know we can do this.

I will up my calories for a few days and see if that jump starts anything, never occurred to me that I might not be eating enough, thanks for the suggestion. Good luck to you.

I am finding out exactly how unpredictable this can all be that is for sure. I guess my biggest fear is that there was something wrong with my band, but have read many other posts and don't suffer from any of the warning signs of a problem. I will just take it slow and steady. I take measurements and BMI measurements once a month at my gym and do love seeing those inches disappear. Thanks for advice and I will try to be patient and not get frustrated. Good luck to you.
