Hernia Same Time As Lap Band Surgery ?
lovepups replied to acenangel11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey -- wanted to let you know I had surgery on Oct. 26 - with hernia repair, and it took more time to recover than w/just the band. I took off from work a little over a week, and still didn't have much energy...wanted to sleep a lot. So - be forewarned. Also - be SURE to take you're pain meds....is absolutely critical!! -

Hey Alli, I, too, have terrible knees (arthritis), and for aerobic exercise, I try the recumbent bike. I like pilates, but it doesn't get you hot and sweaty. Good luck.

Feeling so discouraged...
lovepups replied to Damander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Demander, Of course you're entitled - we all are - we just can't let our down feelings keep us from moving forward. And don't forget to give yourself some credit - you are doing something really good for yourself and your family. I, too, wanted the procedure right away -- started last May to get covered, and will clear the last hurdle (yes - getting a cpap (ugh)), and schedule my surgery before the end of Oct. BUT - lots of bumps in the road - failed stress test then angiogram (which was clear), two sleep studies (double ugh!), so things are looking up. When you're most down, remember that you are your worst critic, and a couple months after you get this done, your downest moments may be in the distant past. Hang in there and give yourself a break! -
Anyone applying for insurance coverage under new FDA guidelines?
lovepups posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a stroke, severe arthritis, borderline diabetic and osteoporosis, with 'funky' liver stats...otherwise I'm completely healthy, and would LOVE to have GEHA approve my insurance coverage and lose some weight so I might be able to walk for a while. My doctor and I have just applied to the co for coverage -- any thoughts or suggestions? -
I used to have United Health Care and thought it was great...good luck. Anyone know how long it takes for GEHA/Medco? I just submitted my information -- am (hopefully) eligible because FDA lowered their recommendations and I have severe arthritis, had a stroke and all kinds of other stuff -- other than that, I'm completely healthy!
