So excited to find that I'm 1.2 lbs away from under 200 lbs this morning! God I love my sleeve! It seems slow getting there had surgery 6/8/11 started weight was 260 down 58.8 lbs...slow but steady!

GrannyK you are correct we have the rest of our life to get there! I had to come to the realization that everyone loses weight at a different rate...some very fast and some slow and steady and as I said I'm the slow steady one! But I'm ok with that it's coming off and it's off forever thanks to this amazing surgery and good eating habits! Good luck to you and sorry for the passing of your brother!

Extremely slow weight loss
McKee replied to lizsmile80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, this is pretty normal. I'm actually running neck and neck with you. I was 4 mos out on the 8th of Oct. I started at 260 and as of this morning I'm 203, so I've lost 57 lbs. I do feel like its slow though hoping it will pick up soon I started watching carbs more the past few days and have noticed a difference. Good luck -

How do you find an exerise that you can enjoy and stick to? I'm so confused I know I need to exercise but I just can't seem to find a starting point. I'm almost 4 months out and have lost 52 pounds without exercise nut I know the key to up my loss and maintain once I reach it is exercise! I work all day have kids activities in the evening I know that's no excuse I wasted 1800.00 on a personal trainer in 2010 before my surgery only to loss 26 pounds them gain it bad and more! I have several friends and family that live within miles of me but no one seems to want to get on an exercise buddy system! So I'm just going to have to go it alone! But I don't know where to start should I go back to the gym membership and do the free classes that range from cardio to strength training or should I use some of the many exercise options I have at home from wii fitness to boxing??? Please help me get motivated!

Well my husband and I decided to go buy bikes yesterday. And I have to say I think I've found an exercise I really enjoyed doing. We rode with the kids for over an hour it was so fun! I'm trying to get dinner done now so we can head out for another ride! Thanks for all the suggestions.

Thanks SeattleSue, I'm in Texas and the weather is finally starting to cool down enough to tolerate a nice walk so maybe that will be my starting point.

How do you choose a "goal weight"?

Ok I had surgery on June 8th this year so I'm almost 4months post op. My starting weight was 260 and I'm 5"7. As of this morning I'm down to 208.4 that's 51.6 pounds lost (not that you couldn't do the math lol) anyway I'm very proud of the loss, I just feel like a slow loser. My question is how do I figure the % of my loss I've seen it figured so many different ways. My goal was 140 but I've upped it to 150 since that would still be a normal BMI for my height. Can someone offer up some advice here? I don't go back for a check up until the 23rd of Oct and I just want to be sure my numbers are good. Thanks

How much did you lose at 3 months?
McKee replied to Pagie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I will be 3 mos post op of the 8th and have lost 41 pounds. -
Hi I am 32 days post op and confused! I don't know at this stage of the game how many calories, fat and carbs I should be taking in. My biggest confusion is carbs there are simple and complex and I don't know which is which! Cam someone help explain this as well as give some advise on what I should limit myself to daily on the carbs in order to get the greatest success out of my sleeve?
-
Thanks for your response. Yes you are correct there are a lot of different opinions out there. My surgery was June 8th and so far I have lost 25 lbs I did not have to do a pre-op diet so all lost is post op. Currently I take in anywhere from 400-600 calories and 50-60 grams of protein on my lucky days! I have had a really hard time finding a protein supplement that I can stomach! I'm trying different protein bars and stuff now and can tolerate those better but they seem to have a lot of carbs and sugar. So that's were I get confused, should I even be worrying about the carbs when the protein benefit is so high? My surgeon didn't really offer any suggestions at my 2 week post op since at that point I was only on full liquids. I don't see him again for a couple more weeks so I figured I would try for some advice on here. I just don't want to mess this up! I feel like a slow loser but I know I shouldn't be compareing myself to others.

I have Cigna open access and my packet was submitted in May 17th and I had my approval on May 20th. Call them they will give you the status if not the approval before the doctors office even gets it...good luck. -

McKee replied to pyt1908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 3weeks out on Wednesday and I have only lost 19 lbs. I was feeling the same way until I realized wait a mintute it took me 6 mos to lose 25 lbs last year what am I thinking??? Yes I have slowed the past couple of days I haven't seen the scale move and yes it is disappointing! But just realize its going to come off it has no choose in the matter! Good luck to you and I am right there with you! -
Wow that is amazing! Congrads please share your journey within the 4 mos in take calories exercise etc. Also did you experience any stalls?

If you are allowed full liquids you can. I'm ten days out and on full liquids and I can have it or sugar free fudge pops per my surgeon.

Funny I was just asking myself the same question. I am 10 days out and I just ate 1 whole soft scrambled egg with cheese. Had no problem getting it down, but I worry, because that seems like a lot a guess, however not sure how the measurement should be considered.
