  1. You are really an inspiration!!! I was close to the same weight @ surgery. I am a little over 3 months post-op and it helped so much to see your weight lose every month! I have been slowing down recently, and it looks like you did as well around the same time. Glad to know I am not alone I am going to to find you on facebook I hope you continue to post here. I really hope others farther out will do the same.

    WHY ME???

I love bread too. I can tolerate it okay, but it does make me a little uncomfy if I eat too much. Toasting it really well does help me, which I guess you have tried I also get those really thin breads to make a sandwich with, and toast those too. I actually don't crave bread as much now as I did before surgery. I am a little over 3 months out now. I mostly crave meats now, or junk, LOL. I hope you can tolerate it soon! Also, eat what you feel is going to work for you. It bothers me when people harp so much on low carbs. I eat between 70-120 carbs a day, sometimes more. I just make sure I get my protein in, eat healthy, and I don't worry about carbs. I have lost nearly 80 pounds since surgery, so I think its working just fine for me I think everyone needs to just find what works for them. You might be one of those people (like me) that does fine with carbs and can still lose. My NUT said bread is fine. Just give it some more time, and I am sure you will be able to enjoy it soon.

I can't believe you didn't get more pain meds! I think I got something every 4 hours. It will take a few weeks, but you WILL feel better. I felt pretty bad for the first few weeks. Even after that, it took a while to get use to the new stomach. I had weird dreams that I was eating tons or drinking too fast, then would freak out in the dream because I remembered I had surgery, LOL. But I am a little over 3 months out now and I feel AMAZING!! Believe me, its so worth it! Don't worry about your protein. Just stay hydrated for now. I drank mostly G2 (reduced cal. gatoraide) at the begining. I didn't get much protein in until I was on "real" food. And I found a higher Protein Drink (Premier Nutrition-30g of protein). My stomach doesn't like a lot of the Protein shakes, or my taste buds, but I like this one and my stomach agrees. I am about 77 pounds down from surgery, and have lost 90 total. I still have over 100 more to lose, but I am happy with where I am in this short amount of time. I haven't had a stall yet, but this week might be the FIRST that I don't lose, or just lose a pound or 2. But thats okay! Make sure you are walking too! It will help with the pain and the mood! I am sure you know that, its just hard to get it in, but it does help. My mood has been all over the place after this surgery. It has helped me to just come hear and read or post. Hope you feel better soon! You will be glad you did this one day!

I am an RN as well (new grad). I am not sure what they gave me in the hospital (guess I should have asked). I was so out of it. I got pain meds and anti-nausea meds IV in the hospital. Went home the next day with liquid pain med, HYDROCODONE/APAP 7.5MG/500MG/15ML. They were going to give me Roxicet liquid for home, but they had me try it in the hospital and it made me vomit. I know they were going to give me morphine in the hospital for pain after surgery, but I am allergic. I wish I could remember what I got in the hospital! Glad you made it thru surgery okay! How are you feeling?

    catheter?

Yes, I had one. I don't think any doctor will give you a choice. You most likely won't get a UTI (chances are pretty low) but it can happen. It's not very likely since you will have it in a short period of time, and it will be inserted in a VERY sterile environment (in the operating room). While surgery might only be an hour (or longer) recovery adds another hour or 2. Also, anesthesia slows everything down, so its harder for your body to function properly, so it stays in the day of surgery (most of the time). I got mine out early the next morning. Also, if the bladder were full, it can increase heart rate and blood pressure, which you don't want happening during surgery. They can also monitor your output of urine a lot easier this way during and after surgery. They won't put the foley catheter in until you are under sedation, so that part it easy!!! LOL. You might feel it when you wake up and you might feel an urge to urinate. I did not feel mine or have any urge to urinate. I would only feel it if I moved around, but it was just more annoying, not painful or anything. It was the first time I ever had one, and I was so freaked out about it! I am a newly graduated RN, so I have put some in, but I NEVER had one myself and didn't even want to think about it! It was probably the biggest thing I was worried about with this surgery. Silly me, LOL. I was freaking out about the drain too, but luckily I didn't get one!! The catheter wasn't a big deal at all. It just burnt a little when they took it out, but only lasted a few seconds. Sometimes, once it is removed, the first time you urinate, it may burn. Sorry for the rambling, but I hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!

    Was that me?

Thats so awesome!!! What a great feeling! I shoveled my driveway yesterday and didn't take a break! Probably not close to how much you did because my driveway is very small. BUT, there is NO WAY I could have done it last winter. Actually, I never shoveled because I could only do like one pass and then not be able to breathe. When I get to goal, I will need to shovel the neighbors driveways too, LOL! Again, congrats!!! It's things like these that make this all worth it!!! CONGRATS!!!

    Amazing feeling

Congrats!!! You look awesome!!! WOW! What a big difference! When I first read it, I thought you lost all that weight since surgery I can't wait to get to almost 100 pounds down!!! I am sure your stall will break soon. Your body is just getting use to all that weight loss! You look great!

    Everyone Says Something Different!

I think they just give you an estimate on time. My NUT said 30 mins before and 30 mins after. But she did say that if I start to feel nauseus when I start to drink after to wait a little longer. Also, I think they can't give you an exact time because everyone digests at different rates. I think you just need to learn your own body and see what works best for you. Sometimes I will feel super stuffed and still feel stuffed 30 mins after eating so I don't really want to drink. I usually wait an hr then. Just play around and learn your own body. No one can really give you an exact time for your own self. I think they just give you numbers so you can work with something and don't drink at the same time as eating, or like 5 mins after. I tried taking Vitamins the other day (the one-a-day for women) and it made me vomit. When I did, I threw up things I had eaten 3-4 hrs earlier! So, I think I digest really slowly!
  13. Good luck!!! So excited for you! Time flys! I am 3 months out today and it seems like I just had the surgery Strap on your seatbelt, the weight is gonna fly off
  14. SarahS

    Incisions

Just leave it alone. It will come off when it is ready. I had steri-strips on and my incisions still opened some after they fell off, so I put more steri-strips on just to make sure. And you can get your incisions wet like the above poster said, just don't soak.
  15. Today I am 3 months post op. Time sure does fly!! Sometimes I feel like I am losing so slow, but then I look back over only 3 months, its going by so fast and the pounds are just melting off. I cannot wait to get to my half way point! I will have to think of something very special to do for myself when I get there. I lost another 4 pounds this week... I seem to average that amount a week still. Sometimes I get upset that its not more, but then I tell myself at least its not 0. "Fingers crossed" I have never had a stall yet. Hopefully I am one of the few lucky ones that never does! I lost 2 pounds one week, that was my lowest week, but I was very constipated. If anyone is curious, here is my weight loss in pounds per week since surgery. Starting weight: 369 Surgery weight: 356 Today's weight: 282 Week 1: 17 Week 2: 6 Week 3: 7 Week 4: 4 Week 5: 7 Week 6: 6 Week 7: 2 Week 8: 5 Week 9: 4 Week 10: 5 Week 11: 3 Week 12: 4 Week 13: 4 Just thought it was kind of cool looking at it that way. I have been doing pretty well. Feeling great. I have been walking some, but need to workout more. My hair started falling out last week and its getting so thin. But thats okay! Here is a slideshow of my weight loss so far. http://smilebox.com/...a&blogview=true

    Shopping in my closet

I am not working right now, and I don't go out a lot, so I usually wear my pj's a lot, LOL. If I go to a friends or my mom, I just wear sweat pants sometimes. So, I rarely wear jeans. One day I wore them to a dr appt. , the size 24's and they were kinda uncomfy, I had to unbutton on the way home, hehe. But I just put them on to meet a friend for lunch the other day and they were lose. I was sooooo happy. It's so weird! I do wish I had someone to exchange clothes with! But I am tall and have long arms, so it's hard! I'm 5'10''

    3 month post-op

Hehe, I got it at Old Navy.com on clearance, and when I ordered it, it was soooo small. I ordered a 3X but it was small. I wore it today because I have a older pic of me wearing it, but then I couldn't find the pic to compare, LOL. It says "NICE" under the naughty, but you can't see it in the pic, hehe.

    Shopping in my closet

I too have just about every size from 32 down to an 8. I did give a lot of stuff away recently because I didn't think I was really going to get the surgery and I didn't think I would even fit into the smaller sizes, so I gave them to people who could use them. OH well, guess I will just have to buy new stuff, hehe! I figured that I would want some new stuff anyway when I get to goal. I have at least a few pants in each size. Except I dont' have any 22's, which I would be in now!!! And I refuse to buy pants because I would probably wear them a few times and then they would be too big. So, I put my 24's in the dryer, hehe. And I can zip my 20's so I will be in them soon! I found some Tommy Jeans packed away with tags on them! So they will be like new! I think my mom got them on clearance for me years ago but I was gaining weight so fast and never could wear them. They are so cute, can't wait to wear them I do have some 22's but they are all spring type pants and capri's. I took all my size 22 and up and bagged them up to donate! I will never wear them again!!! And it makes me feel good to donate. Some still have tags. I wish I could give them to someone losing weight that could use them! Anyone around the Cincinnati, Ohio area??? I did keep the pair of jeans I wore to the hospital. I took a pic of me wearing them today, hehe, and I will do it again, probably at goal and maybe other times.

My hair is naturally curly/frizzy, LOL. I straightened it one day. I am not going to do that for a while because its getting so thin, so I don't want to do anything to it right now! But I do like it straight!

14 weeks post op with pics

WOW! You look great!!!! Have you lost all 84 pounds in 14 weeks???? I am 13 weeks out today (3 months). My surgery was oct 4th. So, I am right behind you I too know what you are feeling, being obsessed with your weight. But I have a history of eating disorders, which I am sure most people here do as well. You just have to be super careful because it can just switch from one thing to another.
