Getting ready for my date 9/14/11. I ordered every Protein sample under the sun. I need to buy a few items from store. Storage containers, food warmer(hehe),food scale, broth, ice pop maker (for my crystal light pops, lol), Jello, and etc. I am excited and nervous but God is in control of the situation!

Hello Everyone! Scoot over for me! I am having surgery in September. My surgeon is so busy. I was told Sept 7. and then Sept 14. Surgeon's office is suppose to call this week with a final schedule once they have finalized. I am looking at everyone's list and I need to get shopping ASAP! I only have Protein samples from various companies. I want to buy unjury chicken Soup, unflavored, and nectar protein samples. I saw Torani syrups at my local Walmart. I will pick those up on my next grocery visit along with a food scale and tubberware. I have enough baby dishes due to having a toddler, lol. So excited ladies! We need to get this board rocking!!! I am outside Atlanta, GA. I have been fighting with UHC for going on one year now! I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. UHC would not accept a support group that I attended for six months. I had to do the process over. This time I went with individual counseling for requirement. I anticipate surgery in August (I hope sooner if possible). Please send me a message anytime.

I had met all of my insurance requirements. According to my plan I must complete 6 months of diet visits and 6 months of support groups. I attended several different support groups in my area. My NCM told me that my groups were "unapproved" support groups therefore, she will not approve my case and will have to attend 6 additional months of "approved" support groups. I attended groups led by post op wls patients. UHC wants me to attend groups led by nurses, docs, or psychs. I am pissed at this point because I know coworkers that were approved with the same support groups but they had Cigna(same employer insurance). I can't believe a support group would stop me from having surgery. I guess I will have to appeal the decision of my NCM. Any thoughts?

I really educated myself during this journey. I was considering DS too but I am thinking long term. What will happen to alot of those folks as they age? Malabsoption will be a biotch! I don't want to deal with problems with properly absorbing nutrients. I have a cousin with vitamin deficits with GB. She was hospitalized a few times. I will stick with my sleeve. You have to continue to work it as with any WLS but have confidence in knowing you won't deal with serious nutritional issues down the line. Who wants stinky gas and diarrha all the time anyways?????
