does anyone else have this trouble
ohmmm replied to JamieLynn77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved after you, on January 27th, I don't seem to have a problem with bread, sometimes it seems to fill me up quicker, but other times I feel I can eat more. Depends. I haven't tried anything breaded, like chicken or anything, just bread in general. So, this makes me wonder if this will always be the case for you since I am only a couple of weeks behind you. I guess it can be a good thing. -
I was just wondering when it is okay to have a salad? I love one of the salads at panera, but was told not too much fibrous vegetables yet and wondered how people do on salads in general? Thanks
-
Thanks everyone, sounds like I could try it soon, but I will try to wait until three months out to be safe. The salad that I love at Panera has the most moist chicken, also has nuts, so I would focus on that part with just some lettuce, oh, has cheese too, I think Goats or gorgonzola, can't remember. But I am in love with that salad. I just wanted a guideline as to when to have it, so now I have that. Thanks again

Four days out of surgery and scared about hunger
ohmmm replied to EvRev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did and still do at 4 weeks out. I get frustrated too wondering if it will always be like this. I feel I can eat more often and that is not good. I think I need to get more fluids in though and that might help. Instead of eating when hungry, I should drink. I was like you only a couple of days out, thinking why am I hungry. I read about people on here that are never hungry and the last thing they want to do is eat. Well, I find that I do have an appetite and want to eat. I don't think I have cravings, but when others are eating around me, I do wish that I could have some, but I think because I am not cleared for all foods yet and still eating pretty simple. I hope when I can have all foods that I will stay fuller longer, or I will be kind of upset. I don't want to be eating every 2-3 hours like I do now. But, will do what I have to do. Hang in there! -
4 weeks post op and only 17 pounds
ohmmm replied to tabw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was three weeks out on Thursday, so three weeks and two days today, and I am down 17 lbs. So it is very similiar. I don't imagine I will lose huge amounts in the next five days. So, I am fine with it, I think there will be stalls here and there, but then you might be suprised when you step on the scale and it is three lbs less all of the sudden! -
I do this same Protein shake, I use Nature's Best Low Carb Dutch chocolate Isopure, have actually used this for over 5 years and I like the taste. You can get it at bodybuilding.com or GNC, Bodybuilding.com is much cheaper. You can just buy the bag of it at first to see if you like.

3 MONTHS POST OP OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINONS!!!
ohmmm replied to YOLANDA240's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry you have to hear this stuff! I have been very lucky and suprised by responses to people around me. All at work that I have told have been so supporting. They stop by and ask me how I am doing. My boss last week asked if I was doing okay and needed to take some more time off, I told him that I wasn't feeling that great that day and had thought about asking to go home a few hours early. He said whatever I need. I find that almost crazy, I thought it was great that he was supportive, but I feel he is going above and beyond in making sure I continue to feel good. I think that that isn't even necessary, he didn't mind me taking the time off, but I am back now and don't expect any special treatment, but I feel so lucky. I have another co worker that texts me over the weekend just to check in. After the surgery initially she brought me four cans of soup and a PEOPLE magazine, again I feel so lucky. I know at some point I am bound to cross paths with someone not so much supportive and I actually think about this and dread it. I always wonder how I will respond. I am typically pretty nice and passive in nature, and feel like I will feel bad if someone says something. But I know that this is my decision, like you said, for me, and not for them. If people can't be happy, then they probably wouldn't be happy for me if I was going on a big vacation, having a baby, etc. People are jealous sometimes and usually it is because of something going on with them, not with you. I wish you luck and keep your head up, and definetely don't stop going to the gym. I wonder if that was a crack saying that, meaning you are lazy and don't want to go to the gym and that is why you had surgery, I sometimes think people will think that of me and I used to go to the gym all the time. Anyhow, take care and take care of yourself! -
A Shout Out to All the Sleevers Who Have Had Surgery in the Last 2 Months
ohmmm replied to TynMcsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, I am only 2 weeks and 2 days out. I have mixed feelings still. I am glad that I did it, but it is a life change. I want to eat stuff sometimes, not because I am hungry, but because I am so used to eating whenever I want. Other than that, I am tired a lot still. I can't wait to get more calories in so I can function better and do the stairs in my own house better. I know it will all get better so I take it as it comes, a little better here and there. I am happy with my weight loss and hope to start working out at 3 weeks out, just walking, but worry about my energy level. I will take it easy at first, every little bit helps. I am getting in my Protein, so that is good. Just waiting for the day that I can eat some food and function a little better. Then I know it will all be worth it! -
Awesome and good for you!

what do you put in your wraps???
-
That is so awesome I can almost taste it. I told my husband just yesterday that in a couple of months I want to try steak, Friday's has a really good one and I think it is 6oz too. I told him I want us to do it take out first because I am scared of eating it in the restaurant in case i get sick. So, I think it looks like I shouldn't have anything to worry about from the sounds of everyone here as long as I eat slow and chew well! I am excited.

Please HELP... What does fullness feel like????
ohmmm replied to Txchickadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is funny about DH, I sat down two days ago with mine, me with 4oz Tomato Soup and he had the rest of the tomato soup and grilled cheese and crackers in his soup. He first was so loud as usual and ate like a cow, then wolfed it all down and I wasn't even half way done, just sitting there between each bite, making sure it all went down okay. -
Worried - No Bowel Movement
ohmmm replied to AChristian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I have used miralax since before surgery. My Doc sent me home with stool softenter pills to counter the tylenol w/ codeine, but when those are gone I will go back to miralax. Also found individual miralax packets. Oh, and I had a bowel movement 4 days post op, I was wondering when it was going to come too. -
I wish I was saving on food, my kids are pigs, oh, husband too. Once I get on a more normal eating routine I will work on them, I stocked the house with not so healthy freezer items and Snacks because I knew my husband was going to eat out if I didn't. But I just didn't care at that point, I had to worry about me. He said buy stuff for chili, I can make that. Well, out of all the stuff that I bought what it still sitting there? The meat and stuff for chili, actually, I probably need to check that meat and throw it out now. Anyway, good for you! Take care. I am 5 days out.

Hi there, I do know what you are going through a bit. I just had mine 5 days ago and the closer it got the more I wondered if I was diong the right thing. I am not diabetic, but it is the number one reason I went through with it because I saw it in my future, both mother, father, maternal and paternal grandmothers have diabetes. My mother had a stroke in 2001 and has been in a nursing home ever since, she was only 47 at the time. I was 223 the day of surgery due to pre op diet. I orginally hung around 231. I kept wondering can I do this myself. I don't regret it yet, things are going well. Tough time the first two days, but I think that would be with most surgeries. Each day gets so much better, after first two days. It is a life changing thing, I felt really mentally prepared from taking my time and researching throughout the whole process, I didn't rush it like some do. You still have a couple of weeks. I might be worried about taking meds too. To my suprise they gave me pills to take, stool softener and Nexium. With the hopes that I won't need nexium eventually anymore. I thought we couldn't have pills, thus the chewable Vitamins. I don't know what to say, it is such a personal decision, you might need to just read more on here, or go to YouTube and view testimonies. I did that a few days out and it got me more pumped up that I was in fact doing the right thing. It is inspiring. Good luck you and I feel what you are going through.

Oh, I wished I ordered raspberry. I just ordered last night, 5 bottles from Torani site. I got the basics for now, I think they were 7.85 a bottle and 7.85 shipping. At this point, not even one week out from surgery, I don't care, just want to try them, and can't really go out everywhere looking for them. Plus they had all flavors in one spot! If you like a certain flavor you can get a three pack for cheaper per bottle, but I am guessing that you don't go through them too quick. I got Choc, Van, PB, strawberry, and peach. I was thinking of mixing choc and PB flavor in the chobani and see what happens. I see they have choc chip cookie dough, but wonder if it would really taste like that.
-
You can use the hershey in the blender w/ choc whey powder, ice, and milk. I add PB, then you are getting a little extra choc flavor than just the powder can give.

awesome, thanks! I assume they are SF?

Is anyone having problems with bowel movement?
ohmmm replied to valleygirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
FYI, I just bought individual packets of miralax to keep at work and my purse, got them from soap.com. I am sure other places have them. We have a large bottle at the house that docs have told me to give to two of my children on occasion and I started using for myself when having trouble. I am now 4 days post op and haven't gone, but I don't feel gross or heavy probably because I am doing all liquids. But it is sure to come with the high protein that is why I am stocking up now! -
Well, I haven't been in your situation yet, but I sometimes will put protein powder servings in a snack size ziploc and bring just a plain tupperware cup with lid. You can fill with water or milk from airport and shake it up. Some nuts, I don't know if you can bring applesauce through security, but that with unflavored protein powder. Then some Special K pro water packets to put in water could work too. Hope this helps.

I tried one NEW WHEY with 42 grams in Fruit Punch, not too bad, sweet, but tolerable. GNC.

What are the brands of syrups that you use? I need to purchase some for my next phase! Thanks

that is so wierd, I got on here to see if anyone else was hungry, I was sleeved on the 27th too. I wonder when it is too much with the soup, Jello, popsicles, etc. Mostly because I am hungry, but trying not to eat too much, paranoid about taking too big of bites. I too had the gas very wicked! I feel it subsiding since I came home yesterday, have been using a heating pad for it and seems to help. The heating pad also helps with my back laying in the same position forever and ever. So, It does make me feel better that someone that had surgery the same day is experiencing the same exact thing, seems more normal then. I am enjoying some sugar free jello right now for Breakfast, I woke up quite hungry at 7:30. Keep in touch and good luck to you!

1 week til surgery and I am a little freaked
ohmmm replied to emp's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am having surgery in NY. I guess you had your surgery yesterday, sorry I didn't get this until now, but I was in the hospital from early the 27th until 3pm on the 29th. Then not really up to anything until now. Hope to hear from you soon and how you are doing!!! Take care and it will get better. I guess today is day three, and much better, still sore, but much better. I am not sleeping through the night because I kind of nap all day when I can. A big bother is just my back getting sore from laying the same position all day and night. I really want to go downstairs and sit on the couch for a bit, but do not want the dogs climbing all over me. My bulldog was upset when I came home yesterday and came upstairs (we have a gate so he can't come up) and he cried for almost an hour I think. When I got home the two of them were so happy and jumping and trying to sniff, luckily they aren't big and couldn't even reach my stomach, I tried to love them as much as I could standing straight up, but couldn't reach my little dachshund. I felt so bad but just wanted to get upstairs and rest. My bulldog is a baby and always wants his mama or dada, I guess hard for him to understand. One of the nurses said they migiht sense something and be sensitive, but I think if I say on the couch he would be all over me. So, maybe in a couple more days I will cover myself with pillows in that region and let him sit on me. Anyway, sorry to go on about the dogs, but the kids and hubby understand, and the dogs don't quite. Take care and get well soon! -
Good luck, I am the morning after you! We must keep in touch. I am nervous as well. Talk to you on the other side!
