2 Lbs Shy Of 100 Lbs Lost!

Thank you everyone! If I can do it so can all of you! Best of luck to you all!
  6. Hi everyone! Today I had an ultrasound to determine the reason for my elevated liver enzymes. I have gall stones. I kind of thought I might since I have had all the symptoms of of an attack since August. I initially thought that it was very bad gas that just wouldn't go anywhere but they have gotten progressively worse. Anyway my doctor has prescribed actigall (ursodiol is the generic). I will be seeing him next friday to discuss my options but I'm pretty sure that it will surgery. My question to you all- has anyone else had gall bladder issues after banding? And is it ok to open up the capsules and mix the drug w/ applesauce? The pills are pretty big and I'm worried about them getting stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Gall Stones Found

Thanks. I wish that my doctor had prescribed them from the time of my surgery. My mother had her gall bladder removed when she was about 50 so I guess I might have developed them anyway.
  8. Hi everyone! I hope that you don't find this a stupid question but here goes- does anyone have any suggestions for supportive underwear (not Spanx) that are comfortable and will really help suck in my belly. I have the dreaded droopy apron thing going on and as I'm losing weight I really would love to look a bit flatter and not so jiggly. I really appreciate any suggestions that you might have.
  9. Thanks for your input. I have Spanx but I was looking for something cheaper. I also tend to wear all cotton and they don't really hold you in but they are comfortable

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!
  11. Goodbye 380's, 370's, 360's, 350's, 340's, 330's

Hello 320's but not for long!

  12. Best ting I ever did! I'm so happy that I made the decision almost 1 year ago to start the journey to get the Lap-Band. I have lost 60.5 lbs since my surgery on April 6th (4 months yesterday). I feel great! When I was on WW it took me almost a year and a half to lose 65 lbs.
  13. I was nervous too but I have to say it was so much better than I could have imagined. I went in at 6, surgery was at 7 or so and I was on my way home at 12. I had hardly any pain. It almost was as if I didn't have anything done. I know that everyone is different but that was my experience. Good luck to you! Just remember to do everything that they tell you to do. That will be to your benefit.
  14. I use the EAS whey protein. I bought a 5lb bag at BJ's for $28.00. I also use the Syntrax Nectar which I bought at the Vitamin Shoppe for $32.00. My doctor also wants me to get my protein from food but to use the protein shakes as a supplement for those times when I might not reach the optimum amount. Probably for the 1st 2 years post-op at the very least.

    Hypo-Thyroid Bandsters

Good evening everyone. I came across this thread and I just had to post.I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in January 2008 ( I believe that I probably always had a sluggish thyroid but that it was finally pushed into hypothyroidism when I went through chemo from Jan to April 2007. Anyway when I met with my surgeon he tried to steer me towards getting the bypass b/c with my Hashimotos it would be slower to lose weight and I would have to work much harder at it. told him I was willing to to do that with the band. So on April 6th I was banded and so far I have lost 41 lbs (includes the 13 lbs I lost pre-op from liquid diet). I had a fill on May 24th of 3cc. I am currently on 75mcg synthroid. I will be seeing my endo this coming friday. BTW according to my endo if your levels are in the normal range than you should have no problem losing weight. I so hope that my WL keeps going along as it has.
  17. I hope that you are feeling better. I have to say that I had hardly any pain from the surgery and luckily no gas. But I too had a rash but not on my abdomen. I had it in my genital area. I'm thinking that it might be from the iodine wash dripping down. I didn't have any issues down there before the surgery. That was the most uncomfortable feeling- itching, burning like you would not believe. I actually took the percocet for the pain from the rash and not the surgery. I slathered myself with cortizone cream and that helped. Today is the 1st day that I didn't have to use anything.
  18. Today was my 1st post-op visit and I have lost another 10 lbs since my surgery on April 6th. The grand total is 23.5 lbs! Woohoo for me!!!!!!!
  19. Hi everyone! I had the surgery on Wed April 7th and am experiencing hardly any pain except for some near the port site. It's been pretty mazing how great I feel. Anyone else have the same experience? just curious

    Post surgery diet suggestions

It doesn't seem as if you are drinking any clear Protein. I bought Syntrax nectar in Fuzzy Navel flavor. Not bad. Having the protein is important. Also are you drinking Water?
  21. Thanks everyone! So glad to hear that there are others out there.
  22. Had the Lap-band surgery yesterday and I feel great! So far no issues at all.

  23. Good luck to you too!
  24. Hi my name is Loretta and I am new to this board . I am 49 yrs old and have been struggling with my weight almost my whole life. I have been morbidly obese for the past 25 years (overweight when I got pregnant with my one & only daughter and have been yo-yo-ing ever since). I am an ovarian cancer survivor- 4yrs and counting. I have tried so many diets in the past with my most successful being WW. I lost 65 lbs in 2007 but after being diagnosed with Hashimotos (hypothyroidism) in Jan '08 I really struggled to lose. I became frustrated with my lack of progress and gined it all back and am now at my highest weight. In July 2010 when at a routine check-up with my oncologist I began talking about WLS. One of the receptionists had just gone through bypass and she looked great. She gave me the name of her surgeon. Of course it took another month for me to actually call him. Went to his WL seminar with my mom in September and I was off and running. I made the decision to go the Lap Band route because for me it was the bteer choice and less invasive. I jumped through all the hoops and I was approved within 2 days! Yippee! My surgery is scheduled for April 6th (the day before my 27th wedding anniversary- so we will be celebrating it on Tuesday March 22 since my 2 week pre-surgical liquid diet starts on the 23rd) I'm very excited and nervous for what is about to finally happen. I'm so ready for this! I look forward to reading and participating on this board.
