Hello Everyone. I'm Nadea and newly banded as of 3/11/11! I am relatively new to the Fayetteville area and looking to find "banded buddies" to form a walking/exercise club and/or just for motivation to stay on track toward a healthy lifestyle. Please respond if you would like to join me. Thanks.

Hi All, I am day 10 post op and have since returned to my presurgery weight of 195. Hoewever, reading through many of the threads I've noticed that many others do not experience hunger early on and have dropped several lbs by week 2. Just wondering if anyone else noticed a stall on the scale early on? I'm starting to wonder if something may be wrong with my band. Im trying to stay encouaraged with this process but just need a little feedback. By the way, I've been hungry with loud growling but haven't strayed from my full liquid diet. Although I am having trouble getting in all the water along with protein. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When does the "losing" start?
Nadea77 replied to Nadea77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, thx for the tips. I know I need to stay off of the scale but that too is another habit I'm working to break. I will continue to await progress once my healing is totally complete. I guess the bottom line is in time everything will align. Thx again. -
Hi Reverie, thanks for the info. You are definitely right about the fact we all lose differently. I guess that's really part of my fear that based on hx (as is probably the case for many of us) losing has been difficult for me and Im really looking for the band tool to be the extra push I need to get going in the right direction. However since I've not had any loss since my initial 16 lbs lost prior to surgery on 3/11/11 Im starting to find myself discouraged. Im trying to keep in mind that my focus right now is healing not losing and to give my body time to adjust to all of the sudden changes. One thing though that confuses me is that Im still not eating anything (liquids stage) so don't know why no more loss yet. Anyhow, good luck on the shedding your last few pounds. Take care.

Hello All, I'm Nadea. I have contemplated LB surgery for the past 3 years and finally had the procedure last Friday, March 11! So, that makes me officially 4 days post op. I am excited, scared, and a little impatient about the process all at the same time. I have been resting at home trying to adjust to all of the new sounds that now come from my belly as well as manage the desire to chew food. I admit it's kinda weird but I guess it is just another aspect of the process that will take some getting used to. Anyhow, I now live in Fayetteville, NC and since relocating here last summer don't really have a lot of connections as of yet. I look forward to chatting with many of you and to mutually encouarge one another along the the way of this new journey. I am hoping to connect with others to share recipes and motivate one another to exercise and drink all of that darn water we must get in! Feel free to contact me to talk about your experiences, both good and bad. I look forward to meeting you soon. Best wishes.

Hi Nicole, thx for sharing. For the past 2 days Im finding myself frustrated with still being sore and not yet there in terms of starting to see any weight loss. Also, I've noticed a desire to chew something. Anyhow besides my gripping I am doing ok. Not much support here locally so I hope to stay connected to all of my LBT buddies. Best wishes with your progress this week. Please stay in touch!

How long before the first fill? I know it takes some time to allow for healing but when should I expect to get my first fill done? Thx.

Don't let your nerves get the best of you. Im sure you didn't come to your decision for surgery overnight so be confident in your choice. I too am newly banded (3/11/11) but have these pointers to offer (that I'm using too): Realize there will be good days and not so good days, take each day one at a time. Prepare for recovery by ensuring you have all of your post op diet med needs on hand (Vitamins, pain meds, Jello, broth, Protein supplments, sugar free popsicles, Water, ). Write yourself a note of encouragement before the procedure as motivation on the days you have a hard time. Remember that pain (if you have any) will eventually go away Remind yourself to be patient about the weightloss and realize it's a process. Walk as much as you can tolerate without overdoing it Best Wishes!

Please tell me how you've done so great with your 112 lbs weight loss without any fills. Also, did you find that getting started was difficult and how long did it take before you began losing? Thx.

Hi Queenietut. I'm Nadea. I recently relocated to NC from TX (San Antoinio) and was banded on 3/11/11. I'm with you on the "figuring the big new world" part. I too had a hiatal hernia that I was unaware of prior to surgery. I think it has been the most painful part of my experience. Did you know you had a hernia before surgery? How is recovery going for you...do you have a lot of pain at the hernia site and how can you tell where your port is located? Let me know if you'd like to chat. I'm definitely interested in developing a community of support. Best wishes, take care of yourself.

Hi I'm Nadea. I was banded on March 11. I used to live in Brandywine, Clinton, and Bowie, MD. Currently, I live in Fayetteville, NC. I know I'm still not "local" but familiar with your area at least. Let me know if you'd like to chat. Good luck with your LB journey.
