I have not had surgery yet. However, I know that this is going to be a HUGE issue for me. I have always been a BIG drinker with my meals. It is nothing for me to drink 2 glasses of tea with every meal. I have been practicing for the past 2 months and I am doing pretty good. I drink up till I eat. Then, not for 30-60 minutes after. It is not so hard at Breakfast cuz I have fruit and it is juicy. I make sure to save one bite to wash it all down!! Then my drive to work takes me over 30 minutes so I am good! lunch is a little harder, but I do it. dinner is the hardest but, after I eat, I usually go for a walk. Practice, Practice, Practice! I know how important protein is for healing and weight loss. Yesterday, I went online and ordered some samples of Unjury, Chike and PB2. I thought I should try them pre-op to see if I like them and then order some and get stocked up!! Chike had 5 samples for $6.95 i think and that included shipping. Not bad! Unjury's samples were $1.75 each and i think shipping was about $3.00. Just a little info for those that wish to try and not buy large quanities. I heard Unjury's chicken soup protein mix is REALLY good. I can't wait to get it! I will post again and let you know how they are. Kelly

I think you look awesome! I know that we all get fixated on what the scale says tho. If it isn't exactly 5lbs less then we think we are not good enough or we are just not happy about it. Look at how far you have come and be happy with that! Continue with what you are doing and it will move. As long as you are staying healthy and living by the "sleeve rules", you will be successful. They say the less you have to lose the harder is to lose! Seriously tho, what is a few more lbs compared to where you have come from? It is really just a number. You really look very healthy and happy! Good job! Oh and you baby is too cute too! Kelly

one stone is equal to 14lbs. so 2 and a half would be 35lbs. Sorry to be a nerd! I was a math major in college and now I am an accountant!! LOL good job!! kelly

1200 Calorie Diet- OMG! TORTURE!
kellyw74 replied to Candace2314's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been doing the pre-op 1200 cal diet since I signed up to be sleeved back in October. The first few weeks were the worst! I thought i would starve to death! It is low fat, low carb, high protein and I was beside myself. So many times I wanted to go get a cheesburger or some pizza. Stick with it cuz it does get easier. After about day 12, I was getting into a grove and not so many cravings were upon me. I still get hungry for things, but not NEARLY like i use to. AND, i have lost 50lbs. PRE OP!! that is pretty amazing! Keep with it. It will all be worth it! Best of luck! Kelly -
First “mini” goal reached!!!!
kellyw74 replied to Jessi_R's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
AHHH! to weigh less than the d/l! that would be an achievement. I don't think I ever have! LOL Good for you! Kelly -
My surgeon would do the exact same thing! You can not even be 1lb over the goal weight that he sets for you or he will send you home and not do the surgery! A lot of people don't like him and think he is to blunt and "as a matter of fact", but he really is just looking out for my best interest. I want someone who is going to treat me like that and not just be like "I will operate on anyone"!! That means that I will be very well taken care of and be in great hands. If I am not ready, then don't do it. I would not want to be very sick or worse, die! That is all he was trying to keep from happening and I am glad that you understand that. I am glad that my dr. is the same way. Maybe we have the same surgeon! LOL Kelly

so i have a question about Vitamins. what vitamins do you take? my information says to take a multi Vitamin with minerals like flinstone complete, Vitamin D, Calcium (carbonate or citrate), and a b-12 sublingual. i have the flinstone complete and viactiv plus d, however, i can not seem to find the sublingual b-12. do i need to go to GNC to get these? i am confused. thanks! kelly

Good for you for being such a supportive friend to your co-worker. I too, work with a lady that is so rude and just a biotch like that! I would have reported her to HR or your boss for the comment she made about the other girl. How awful! Good luck to you. Kelly

Weight loss and friends
kellyw74 replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lash44, some people are just not supportive about WLS. That is why I am chosing not to tell anyone except my husband. Not even my own mother knows! Are your friends overweight? They might be a little jealous of you as well! Some people can not just say "Hey, you look great!" Or "Good Job!". They are insecure in their own skin and wish that they were you. My advice is keep doing what you are doing and if they can't be supportive of you and your weight loss, then to hell with them. You should be doing it for you and noboby else. Good luck and good job so far! Kelly -
Not to scare you, but I would be careful not following your surgeons request of the pre-op diet. I read this morning a post that someone was put on that diet, did not follow it and went in for the surgery and her surgeon sent her home. He knew that she had not followed the diet because she had gained and not lost and when he asked her, she told him. He cancelled the surgery because the whole reason for the diet is to shrink your liver so the surgery is safer. Try to stick to the diet. It will only benefit you and the last thing you want is for your surgery to be cancelled. Good luck! Kelly

I am not telling anyone, but my husband! It is NOBODYS business anyway. People are so judgemental and think that WLS is an easy out. I say do it and if you want to tell, tell later. It is your decision and nobody else's anyway. Good luck to you. Kelly

Hi Kelli, How cool that we have the same name! I read that the soup has to be no hotter than 130 degrees or it will clump! That will probably suck pre-op, but you are right about being just right post op. I have not gotten my surgery date yet. It has been a slow process!! Been at this since last Sept 10. I have lost 50lbs tho! Testing, classes, more test, dr. visits. uggg. I know it will all be worth it tho. I am going thr Kaiser and they make you do ALOT of stuff! I am having an upper endoscopy done and that is my last step! YAY Then, I can meet with the coordinator and she will set my date. My endoscopy is not until the middle of april. Good luck to you! Kelly

How can any stand the taste of greek yogurt?
kellyw74 replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ICK! greek yogurt is awful. i can not do it. it seems gritty or something to me. i tried to like it, but i just can not do it. but, like everyone is saying, people have different tastes. i LOVE green peppers and my husband HATES them. Kelly -
Good Job!! I am happy for you.
