    so tempting!

i didn't have to do the medically supervised thing, but it has taken me 6 months to go thru the process. Kaiser makes you take lots of classes and visits and tests and they are strict. you have to follow their rules to a t and if you don't, you don't get surgery! i am finally at the last step in the process and am going to see the case manager on wednesday. that is the day i will get my surgery date!! i am so excited! hang in there, you will get to where you want and need to be and it will so be worth it!! best of luck to you! kelly

    how does the vsg resolve....

Losing weight, no matter from what resource WILL improve your diabetes. I have lost 50lbs, pre-op and my levels have improved GREATLY! I look for the surgery to only completly put mine in complete control! Good luck to you! Kelly
  4. i am telling NOBODY except my husband! i am like foxbins, i too am writing a letter, to my mother, in case something, God forbid, should happen. Then, when i get home, I will shred it! My work thinks I am having a hernia repair surgery, which i am too, but they don't need to know about the rest. It is my business and no one elses. Good luck to all of you! Kelly

    Advice

i am not telling anyone but my husband either! it is really nobody's business but mine! some are just so negative and don't understand or think it is such an EASY solution! i don't want to hear it. i have struggled since i was 9. i have failed miserably and I am over it! I don't want to hear negative, I want to get on with it and that is why i choose not to tell anyone! I have already lost 50lbs. pre-op, so I think after the surgery, they will never know unless i tell them because I will just continue to lose what I have already started! best of luck to you all! Diet After bariatric Surgery

You must have Kaiser! This is exactly what is in my binder! I can not believe that every surgery patient is not given information like I was given. Really blows my mind to think that there are so many that really have no idea how to eat after surgery....seriously? Kelly

What kind of treadmill do you have?

people are all of the time selling stuff. i would try to find a used one on craigslist or your local paper. sometimes hsn or qvc have great deals on treadmills and offer free shipping. if the weight limit is 250 and you are 300, i would buy it and not worry too much about it. you would be fine! and if you have already had surgery, you are going to lose that weight so fast that it wont matter anyway! best of luck to you! kelly
  8. does everyone have to have gallbladder removed after surgery? or did it bother you before and now you have to have it taken out? i do not have complications with mine now and was just wondering if it will bother me later? thanks, kelly

    Welcome and good luck! Kelly
  12. this is my biggest fear that it will not work for me. my dr. says it will and not to worry! however, i have lost and regained 100lbs 3 times. that frightenes me! i CAN lose weight, i just CAN NOT keep it off. i have not had surgery yet and plan to use my sleeve as a tool, just like tiff says. it has to be lifelong and you have to work at it. i pray everyday that the sleeve will work for me and i pray the same for you too! good luck! kelly
  13. YAY!! how exciting!! good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing! kelly
  14. that would be nice!! i haven't had my surgery yet, but i wouldn't want to change surgeons now anyway. i like my dr. and i shouldn't have to go back but maybe one more time b4 my surgery day. Kelly
  15. Anyone use the ENS - Multivitamin, Calcium, & Protein Shake from Celebrate Vitamins? I was just wondering about the taste? And if it was worth the price to buy them or just get the Premier ones from costco? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kelly
  16. I have kaiser northern california which is ALOT differnet than s. california. we do not have to do the 12 weeks of options classes which cuts out a lot of time. i think it all depends on how fast you can work it. i started in oct. 2010 and was required by my surgeon to lose 25lbs pre-op before he would do it. i had to be within 5 lbs of that goal before i could move on to meet with the psych dr. i then had to wait to have labs done and then meet with dr. again. he then ordered upper endoscopy and it is just all drawn out! you have to wait weeks to get appts and it just takes a long time! i still do the pre-op diet and have lost over 50lbs!! yay!! i live in sacramento and have to drive to richmond to see the dr. it sucks! i know it will all be worth it when i am finally sleeved, but, the waiting sucks! good luck to you. kelly
  17. That is SO AMAZIN!! good for you. way to rock that sleeve. keep up the good work. Kelly
  18. I have not had surgery yet and am so very afraid that this surgery is not going to work for me! I am ALWAYS hungry. Not head hunger, but really hungry. I eat and like 1 1/2 to 2 hours later my stomach is growling and I get so hungry that it is really hard for me not to eat. My Dr. told me that it was because of what I was eating. We changed my diet and still, I am STARVING!! I have been doing the pre-op diet since Oct. and have lost 50lbs. So, I do stick to it, but gosh, I am so tired of being hungry! I have real problems believing that this surgery will work for me. My Dr. says that I will be super successful because I have shown great restriction already. I guess I am just afraid of failure...again! Do those of you that have had surgery lose your hunger issues? If that would just go away, I would be fine. I am not one that eats just to eat, I eat because I am seriously hungry. Thanks for any advice, Kelly
  19. i agree with tiffany. ask your dr. because all dr.'s make you stop smoking prior to surgery and insist that you do not smoke agian! my dr. made me promise that i would never smoke again and would not do RYN surgery on me because i had been a smoker!! he was that strict! he said that if i did ever smoke again, he would stop being my dr.!! to each their own, but i would ask! just my opinion! kelly

    Hungry

see sleevesearch, that is what i am afraid of!!! i do not want to go through all of this just to have surgery and still feel this way!! i mean, i know i will NEVER be able to eat as much as i once did after surgery, but if i can eat all day long, then wont the amount still be the same?? i am so afraid that it is just not going to work for me. i pray that it will, but i just hate not knowing. there are so many that say that their actual hunger issues go away, but some say that they are still there. i just don't know!!! kelly

    Hungry

thanks foxbins, i hope that this will be my result. i hear or should say read that some people still have the hungry issue. if i weren't hungry all of the time, i would be fine. i just want it to STOP!! it is so irritating! Kelly

    Question

Most places are sensitive to vacations and surgeries that are pre planned prior to being hired. I would be honest and tell them that you are having surgery on such and such and that you intend on needing a week off and upon returing will not be able to lift for another few weeks. Honesty is best. Now, the law states that you DO NOT have to tell them what the surgery is for, unless you want to. Just tell them it is personal and that you don't want to discuss it. But, be honest!
