Having Major Second Thoughts
kellyw74 replied to BigServ's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't know who you are getting your information from, but there really isn't anything that you CAN NOT have with the sleeve. You gradually have to work into eating things again, but you can not ever not have things again. I was told that coconut and celery could be hard to digest, but not to ever not eat it again. Also, there aren't any medications that you can not take with the sleeve. I take a sublingual B12, not the shots and I am anemic. So, don't know where you are getting that from either. I NEVER drink protein drinks, they are NASTY and I would rather eat my protein anyway, it stays with me longer than liquids do. I did drink them in the begining when I couldn't eat for the first 2 weeks, but that was it. You really should do some research and if your Dr. told you this, find a new Dr. Kelly -
What did everyone take to work with them that first week back at work? (food wise)
kellyw74 replied to Pinkbetty's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I went back to work on day 7, so I was still on full-liquids. I would have brought protein drinks and yogurt, grits, pudding, applesauce and creamed-strained soups. So glad those days are over! Kelly -
Seven months and 92 pounds

WOO HOO!! Congrats! Kelly -
I think it takes time for our brains to catch up with us. I too felt this way and thought "when will it ever be enough??" Someone posted something to me about me needing to let myself be happy and I needed to hear that. I thought I wasn't worthy or something and that what I had acomplished at that moment was not good enough. I have come a lot further since that day and I am here to tell you that one day it will just click and you will feel awesome! I think mine was when I could fit into size 10's. That was the happiest day of my life. NEVER in my life did I wear a 10. I can remember in the 6th grade wearing a 13!! I now wear an 8, but really need a 6. You will get there. WE as sleever's just need to realize that our minds our funny and even at the size I am now, I don't see me as being this small. Others tell me how thin I am, I don't get it. I mean, I know I am thinner, but I don't see me like they do. My dr. tells me that one day I will. It just happens so fast that our brains can't catch up that fast. Please allow yourself to be happy tho!! Happiness comes from within and you deserve to be happy! Go buy yourself something nice! Hugs! Kelly

I feel ya! I did not lose hardly ANYTHING the whole month of August. 4lbs is all. I mean, I know a loss is a loss, but come on!! I also have lost 3 lbs this month. So in almost 2 months, I have lost 7lbs! NOT COOL!! I am only a few lbs from goal and I do workout and eat like I should, but this has me nuts!! It is what it is and I am happy where I am now, but wish these last few lbs would disappear!! Kelly

Support Groups in Real Life
kellyw74 replied to LindaS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you on that Tiffy. I originally wanted to join a support group because I was "told to" and also thought I should. I have lost over 100lbs on my own and really don't need to hear people complain either. I know what to do and how to do it! At my 6 week check up my dr. told me NOT to go to group meeting and to stay off of these forums. There were too many people that thought they were dr.'s!! LOL He said I obviously didn't need anyone's help (besides his) and that me and my sleeve were doing just fine on our own. I enjoy this forum, but really don't think group meetings are for me either. Kelly -
I might have screwed up the whole thing!
kellyw74 replied to longer-life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. advised that they are looking more for what type of support system you have and if you have eating disorders or ever have. Also, what got you to this point. Hope this helps. Kelly -
I was sleeved almost 5 months ago and have never went to one support group meeting. I wanted to, but it just didn't work out. YOU WILL BE FINE!! We are stronger than we think we are and you can come to this site to have just about any question answered. You also have your dr. for the rest. Kelly

I love fall in the midwest. NOTHING is more beautiful!! I am originally from Indiana, but live in California. Kelly

That is awesome!! So happy for you! I too am a litle over 4 months out 19 weeks today as a matter of fact. I am so close to goal I can taste it, but it is getting really hard to lose. I have lost 1.5lbs in 3 weeks and feeling really defeated!! I do everything right and NOTHING!! The sleeve IS really a lifesaver tho because other times when I would feel like this, I would just give up and end up gaining weight!!. I can't do that now!! I have to keep doing what I do and can't eat a pizza or 10 oreos! That is what makes it so worth it. Keep rockin' that sleeve girls!! Kelly

How to: Pre-Surgery "cleanse"
kellyw74 replied to MsC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to do a cleanse, but had to take 2 tbsp of Milk of Magnesia. It didn't even make me go. Kelly -
That is a GREAT nsv apple!! Good for you! Kelly

i would think as long as you are NOT anemic you would be able to. I am sad because I am now anemic and can not. I use to be a frequent donator. Kelly

Why the Shock and Disdain for WLS
kellyw74 replied to favoredone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is usually becuase they are IGNORANT and don't have any idea what the surgery is about or what living our life is like. That is why I tell noboby. I don't want to hear the negative. They would just tell me how wrong I am for doing it and yada, yada, yada. Instead, when I hear how great I look, I smile and say "Thank You." Kelly -
Restriction increasing at 11 weeks?
kellyw74 replied to Escape_Pod's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you sure that you are just not having a few days of not being able to eat as much? I do that from time to time. Some days I can eat like I am supposed to and others, it takes all I have to get in 400 calories. It is like my sleeve just wont have it. It can last a day or two or a week at a time for me. I am a little over 17 weeks out and have experienced this about 5 times in the past two and a half months. Just had it happen a couple days ago and it lasted for 2 days. Kelly -
HOw AWESOME!! I have light too and just today a co-worker told me my butt was little!! LITTLE, my butt. are you serious?? EXCITING!! Anyway, congrats.!! KElly

If you are truly following Kaiser's pre-op diet plan and at least walking 3-5 times a week, you WILL lose that 40lbs. TRUST ME!! I did that pre-op plan and lost 55lbs in 5 months, so I know that plan works, IF you do it. You can do it, the first week is the hardest and then it is a walk in the park! Good luck to you! Kelly

you should have stuck your finger in your nose!! :D Kelly

If you are taking a PPI you will not be able to absorb other types of calcium besides citrate. So, I will continue to take my chances, take the citrate and drink lots of Water. I don't want to break a hip! Kelly

where do you fit your protein in? how do you get calories?
kellyw74 replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Food and Nutrition
I know how you feel. Those protein drinks GAG me. I could not do them either!! The smell of that protein is too much. There is one that is not bad tho Pure Protein makes a powder and it truely is odor free. Vanilla and it is like $17 at Target and Walmart. You can mix it with fruit and make a smoothie and it is good. OR go to Vitamin Shoppe and they have the RTD cans and the Strawberry Cream is to die for. AGAIN, no protein smell or taste...I PROMISE!!! 25g in one can and 1 scoop of the powder! Also GNC has Amplified Whey Protein the Chocolate is THA BOMB!!! It is pretty pricey, but they do have sample packs for like $2.99. Get one and mix it in Silk LIte Chocolte, IT IS LIKE A CHOCOLTE SHAKE!! So delish and again, not a single protein aroma or taste. I PROMISE!! This one has 60g of protein in it! Both can be mixed with water if you can't do milk, but the milk would add more calories for you! You can do that a couple times a day and be set. Forget the eating. YOu could drink your protein til you get better. Hope this helps! Kelly -
I was able to swallow pills bigger than an M&M at 4 weeks post-op (check with your dr tho). At that point, I started taking Centrum, it is complete and has everything you need, including iron. For the next couple weeks, just get a gummy. THey do not have all the nutrients that we need, but it would do for a couple weeks if the others make you sick. YOu will not become deficient in two weeks. But, don't stay on them, as they are not right for us. Kelly

That is EXACTLY how my dr. explained it to me. He and I must have the same surgeon! LOL Kelly
