  1. I would think about what led you to this point and why did you want to have it done in the first place? If you back out where will you be? Things like that. You know that you can not do it on your own or you wouldn't be here and come as far as you have! I did the exact same thing! After my approval and all my classes I thought, WTH am I doing?? This is crazy!! But, I knew at the same time, I had lost and regained the same 100lbs 3 times and would just continue that path if I didn't get help! I was a diabetic and had developed high blood pressure. I was a mess! It is normal to be scared. You are going to completely change your life (for the better) and can't go back to the old ways no matter how much you want to! It IS kinda scary! But at the same time, it is so refreshing. I want to be successful and I can be. I really can't fail because I can't eat more than a 1/4 of a cup of food right now (only 3 weeks out). Even if I wanted a cheeseburger, I couldn't eat it! And at the same time, I really don't miss my old habits AT ALL! Only you know what is best for you and can make that decision, but I don't regreat my decision to have this surgery AT ALL!! I only wish I could have done it 10 years ago! Best of luck to you. Hugs, Kelly

    Hello from a Newbee!!!

Hello and welcome!! Good luck to you and your upcoming surgery!! Kelly
  3. I did really well. I didn't have much pain, except for gas (that gas pain is NO JOKE!!). Then when the gas went away about 3 days later, I was just sore, like an exteme ab workout. My obliques and abs hurt really good for about a week. I didn't even take any pain meds after leaving the hospital. My dr. sent me home with a HUGE bottle of liquid Vicoden and I never used it. I am married, but I didn't ask my husband to do anything for me. I got all my drinks and took a shower by myself. Heck, I even went back to work on day 7. I was totally fine! I have a good tolerance to pain. Everyone is differnt tho! Good Luck!! Kelly

    Anxious

I agree that you need to slow down a little. I was the same way wanting to do everything, but you must remember honey, YOU HAD MAJOR SURGERY!! My case manager put it to me this way!! "The surgery that you just had is comparable to open heart surgery!!!!" You may feel fine, but really you are not! You need to take time and be kind to yourself. REST AND RELAX!! Your body will thank you for it! As far as those BA vitamins!! BLAH!! I didn't mind them so much before surgery, but afterwards, they made me feel awful 10 seconds after I took them and then for about 15 minutes. I never vomited, but man they were bad!! I went to Target and found some gummy vitamins that have minerals in them. Should be about the same thing. My nut said as long as they have vit/minerals they should be fine! They do not make me feel sick, so I will be using them from now on! Don't be too hard on yourself about getting those drinks down. Everyday will get better about drinking! It is hard at first to consume large quantities of liquid, but it WILL get better! Take care of yourself and REST! You have the rest of your life to exercise and work on getting thin! Right now you need to heal or you will not be doing yourself any favors!! Kelly

    Who knew???

I remember about 3 days post-op, I was in the shower washing my hair and I seriously thought I had run a marathon!! I was so friggen exhausted just from washing my hair, I had to get out and take a 4 hour nap! It is amazing how tired you get from something so little!! It does get better everyday! Keep plugging along and you will see a huge difference daily! Kelly

    Bariatric Advantage...

If you log into their site, they have individual packets of meal replacements and bottles. Those are the closest things to samples that I found to buy. I got one of each flavor to try. The bottles are nice beacuse you can just put the water in and shake. You drink right out of the container, very conveinent. Personally, I think they are very protein tasting, but I can't stand most protein drinks at all. That is just my opinion. Everyone is different. Good luck to you! Kelly

    Dizzy ALOT lately

Have you had any blood work done post-op? I felt that exact way after surgery and went to see my primary dr. I also was very tired, but the dizzyness was my primary concern. He did bloodwork and found that my anemia was really bad. I was slighly anemic before surgery and it got way worse afterward. You may want to tell your dr. and they will know to test you for it! Good luck! Kelly

    magic bullet anyone?

I have one and use it for my current food stage. I am on purees and it works wonderfully for that. Also for my protein drinks. Kelly
  14. YAY HORRAY!! I am so very happy that you ate your egg!! And even happier that it went well!! I still have another week on pureed foods. I seem to be doing a little better with them, but still only eating about 1/4 c at each meal. I have not eaten to the point of fullness but only once. I felt it in my thoat and stopped. I am sure that most of the time, I could probably eat more, but am afraid of getting sick, so I stop. I usually hiccup and have read that is most people's signal that they have had enough. I don't feel full or have pain or anything, I just usually quit while I am ahead. I am trying to eat more today though. More frequent meals throughout the day. I have lost 19lbs in 3 weeks and today was really light headed and dizzy. I don't know if it was my anemia or lack of calories I am consuming. I am getting about 350-400 daily with the small amounts I am eating. SCARY!! I am going to try and up it today by having Snacks and more drinks with calories. I also am going to put p.b.in my Protein drink. that will give me alot of extra calories! I am doing a happy dance for you. Let me know what you eat next!! Hugs, Kelly
  15. Oh and I did take my blood sugar and it was 119, so definatly not low! Thanks, Kelly
  16. i appreciate everyone's input about my eating, I SERIOUSLY can not do more than what I am eating. I don't what to do. I try to eat 1/2 c at every meal, but am only able to eat about 1/2 of it before I am done. i can do unlimited liquids so, I just drank a carnation instant breakfast and feel a little better and not so light headed. i am going to make my protein drink later and put some peanut butter in it. i guess i just need to be creative and find ways to up my calories without eating them (so to speak). I have to stay on purees for another week, then can go to soft foods. Hopefully, on that stage, I will be able to eat more calories. I just feel so defeated! Kelly

    25 years is enough

Good for you! Good luck on your journey! Kelly
  18. I am only on pureed foods at this point and can only do about 1/4 c before I am full. I do fine with liquids such as Water and tea. I think today I may have some milk to give me some more calories. I have been drinking V-8 as well to give me more nutrients as I have been worried about not getting enough.I also do a Protein drink daily with a banana in it. I just worry that I will never be able to eat more again. I am sure it will eventually get better, but it just seems like it is taking forever. I know it has only been 3 weeks, but I don't know what to do! Kelly

That is AWESOME!! Good for you. Kelly
  20. I am so glad to see this topic, as I went for a 3 mile walk yesterday. Felt kinda dizzy afterwards, today really lightheaded when I get up from a sitting position! I am 3 weeks out and not eating more than 350 calories a day. I am worried that I may have overdid it and am going to try to get some more calories in today, but it is just hard to do at this point! Kelly

    Gone Forever

AMAZING JOB!! Keep it up! Kelly
  22. Try eating a little bit more. Your body is holding on to everything it is getting bcuz it thinks it is starving. Put a little bit more in and it will show on the scale! Kelly
  23. Has Meggie eaten her egg yet?  Kelly
  24. I will be watching too!! I want to see what you eat and if it goes well! I will keep my fingers crossed! Hugs, Kelly
  25. So for about a week, I have been having this burning kinda sharp pain right under my largest incision. My incisions are healed and look good, never oozed or got infected. I also do not have a fever and never did have one. It hurts the most when I bend over or roll over in the bed. Seems like when I use my stomach muscles the most. Sometimes just sitting still, I will have a burning sensation in that spot. I just thought maybe it was just a pulled stitch or something and did not worry too much about it. Today, I went for a 3 mile walk and when I got home, bent over to un-tie my shoes and OMG!! It hurt sooo bad and has been killing me for about an hour now! I even went and took a HOT shower to kinda relax and it still hurts! Any ideas??? Kelly
