    worries

My dr and case mgr told me that if I ever found myself gaining or slipping a year or two after surgery, to just go back to basics. That would start the losing process all over again. So, go back to Protein first, exercise and drink your Water. You should lose on that! Good luck! Kelly
  2. Mine is sucking too. And let me tell you, after surgery, when you have gas pains, IT IS HARD TO DO!!! OMG it hurts!! Mine was ten times repeatedly an hour, every hour while you are awake after surgery. I did it more because I could barley get it to stay up because I hurt so bad. My dr. was worried about pnumonia, so I worked at it. Good luck with your surgery!! Kelly
  3. Thanks, but everything I eat has to be pureed at this stage. don't know how most of those things would be blended up liquified!! I will keep them in mind for my next food stage tho! Thanks! Kelly
  4. Thanks so much Meg! I don't have ANY problem with liquids and never have! I can drink Water three or four big gulps with no issues..I normally don't, but I have forgetting that I shouldn't!!. I don't feel sick with anything, just like a lump is in my throat or pain in my chest after a few bites. Not always, just sometimes. That is what is so weird to me, that it comes and goes! I could not even take 3 bites of that cottage cheese today, but drank 5 oz of unjury chicken soup. Then 2 1/2 hours later had a Protein drink! Tonight for dinner, I tried a salmon burger and while I only had about 4 small bites (and it was heaven), it felt fine! I probably could have eaten a little more, but I was afraid I would get that pain, so I stopped. The salmon burger was alot more dense than that cottage cheese and it didn't give me any trouble! Maybe just certain times of the day, I swell up or something? I don't know. I just wish it would be consistant. That way it wouldn't worry me that something is wrong. I do take 40 mg of Nexium daily. The last couple days, I have been trying to eat something every couple of hours, thinking that maybe it would help. I will just keep pressing on and pray that it will get better soon! I guess as long as I can get stuff to go down and stay down, it can't be anything too bad! Kelly quote name='mel30' timestamp='1306976921' post='158588'] This is also for Kellyw I was sleeved on the same day as you and I am having the same problems. I can only get about 2-3 bites in and then I get the horrible chest pain. It also takes about 10 minutes to go away. I usually will get up and walk and pray that, that will fix the pain. I totally understand what you are going through I put a call into my doctor's office late today so I will let you know what he says. Hang in there, it has to get better for us

    Gum

I was a HUGE gum chewer before surgery and my plan says no gum and no straws!! I have not had gum since and I use to chew all day long! 3-4 pieces a day! Now, I have NEVER swallowed a piece of gum in my adult life, but it scares me that I will!! If I had to go have it surgically removed, I would be horrified! I just use mints instead. Altoid Smalls are good!! I do use a straw and always have. I don't have a problem with extra gas. I started using it about 2 weeks out. Kelly
  8. Welcome and good luck to you!! Keep us posted on your journey! Kelly
  9. I think it is because everyone is getting bigger and they had to make the sizes bigger to compensate. Everyone is growing, BUT US!! Kelly
  10. THat sucks!! I will probably be right there with you the way I am going! Kelly
  11. Thanks so much!! Yeah, I use my magic bullet and puree everything to paste consistancy. No chunks! I can usually only do about 3-4 bites and then I am done! I measure out 1/4 c, but never do all of it! I do fine with liquids and most days have to eat Soup or drink a Protein drink or SlimFast low carb to get some calories in because I can not get any from real food!! I am just worried that I may never eat again! I am supposed to go to soft foods on Monday, but I really don't think that is going to happen!! If I can't eat what I am supposed to now, how on earth am I going to eat solid food? Unless something magical happens between now and then!! Kelly
  12. do any of you feel like your food gets stuck after a couple of bites?? i am a little over 3 weeks out and I don't know why i still feel like I can't eat anything!! some days are better than others, but still feel like I should be getting better daily and not going backwards! yesterday i ate cottage cheese with no problem. today, took about 3 bites and felt such tightness in my chest for about 10 minutes! gave up and am now having unjury chicken soup! I do fine with liquids, but sometimes (well, more than not), soilds give me issues. do you think it is swelling or something else? i don't go for my check up for another 2 weeks! kelly

    First day back to work

YAY!!! I am glad that you had a good first day back. My internet was down last night, that is why I didn't respond! My first day back, I was exhausted too!! It gets better everyday! You will feel better by Friday! Try and eat a little more each day and that will help too!! Be careful driving. That is dangerous!!!! I did that once when I had my wisdom teeth extracted and was on vicoden. I seriously had to pull over in a parking lot and go to sleep. I called my husband to come and get me and napped till he got there!! NOT GOOD!! Congrats on the weight loss! How exciting that everyone is complimenting you!! You must feel so great!! Oh and your sexy new do too!! :D Keep up the good work and keep me posted on your progress! Monday, i get to go to soft foods, so we will see how that goes! Hugs, Kelly
  14. I know how you feel! I am in the same boat. Nothing to me is satisfying. I think "oooh, that sounds good" and then i don't even like it! I feel so defeated and don't know what to do about it. There really isn't anything I can do I guess. Some days are so bad too, as I still have a lot of tightness when I try to eat anyting besides liquid. Like now, I am trying to eat some cottage cheese. 2 tiny bites and I am so tight feeling in my chest!! I know I can not be full already!! In a few minutes it goes away, but it is so annoying! I just wish I could eat something and really enjoy it. SIGH!! Maybe one day. kelly
  15. My advice to you is don't worry about your Protein right now or for the first couple of weeks! Focus on staying hydrated. It will be hard enough to get all of your liquids in. Drink broth, Water, decaf tea, and diluted juices. That will help with staying hydrated. I too was worried about the protein, but was told by my nut not to even think about it until my pureed stage which was week after week 2. I was on liquids for 3 days, then full liquids for 2 weeks. BLAH! So just drink as much as you can of those items to stay hydrated. You will be fine! Best of luck to you! Kelly
  16. That is EXACTLY why I told NOBODY but my husband. People are so friggen ignorant about the surgery and they piss me the hell off!!! I don't want to hear the negativity. I know how to lose weight! I have done it over and over, hell I could be a poster child for weight loss! I CAN LOSE WEIGHT, I just CAN NOT keep it off! That is why I had the surgery. All the nay-sayers can kiss it! Kelly

    ** HELP **

I had surgery on a Monday afternoon 5/9, went home Tuesday afternoon. I went back to work the following Monday 5/16. The worst for me was the gas pain that lasted about 3 days, after that, I was fine. Sore, like I had worked my abs too hard, but fine. I have a desk job that doesn't require any lifiting or strenuous work, so I was released to go back. Good luck to you! Kelly
  18. The only thing the surgery really did to me was about 8-10 days after surgery (and it could have just been the anastesia working out) I was SO FRIGGEN HOT!!! I would be sweating one minute with sweat running down my back and then freezing the next. It was unreal. One extreme to the next all day long! Freezing, Hot, Freezing, Hot!! It was crazy....and annoying! Then, it just stopped! Now, I am a little on the cold side, but I did become anemic too, so that is probably why I am colder. I also had an extra period after surgery. But, I don't get PMS and surgery didn't cause me to have issues with it. Good Luck!! Kelly

    High Blood Pressure Pre-Op??

I had high blood pressure for a year before my surgery. I was on meds, but lost 55lbs pre-op and had my dosage lowered once because of my weight loss. About 5 days after surgery, I got really dizzy and went to the dr., he took me off my bp meds saying I did not need them any more!! YAY :) . This surgery definatley lowers your bp and helps with diabetes, as I was also taken off that medication too!! My bp use to run 148/90, now it is about 120/62. Good luck to you! Kelly
  20. It must be so frustrating to be working so hard only to be so defeated. I am sorry. Is their anyway you could workout in a pool? That would possibly take some of the pressure off your joints and make it easier on you. Water exercise is a great workout for those that are injured! Don't give up!! Best of luck to you! And feel better soon! Hugs, Kelly
  21. That is AWESOME!! Kelly

    Pain at 4 weeks out

I too was sleeved 3 weeks ago on May 9th. I have been having pain directly below my main incision. It is a burning/sharp pain. Mainly when I bend over or use my stomach musles to move. It is a lot better today, but for the past week has really been bothering me. I googled it and found that it could be a torn stitch or the muscle they go thru to do the work is collecting scar tissue. I am not too worried about it as I do not have a fever and it is not red or irritated. I did carry some groceries that were a litlle heavier than I should have, went for a 3 mile walk that probably didn't help and I sneezed really hard one day that really made me hurt! I am quite sure it is nothing to worry about! Just a stitch! If you are really concerned, call your Dr. Kelly

    Anxious

I bought some flinstone's and about 4 days after i opened them, they got black spots on them. Weirded me out, so i threw them away! GROSS!!! Kellly
  24. I take krill oil and d3 a few times a week. I also take vitamin c chewable everyday. i take these in addition to my multi, b-12, iron and calcium. my dr. says it is fine. Kelly
  25. I know that I am "ONE TOUGH COOKIE", but I really don't think this surgery is a big deal! Now, I will say this!! My case manager said to me "This surgery is as serious as open heart surgery" and she was dead serious!! She told me that even though you feel fine, you really need to rest and let your body heal! This is how we all get into trouble becaue we feel so darn good and think we can be up sweeping the floors and stuff! So, even though you may feel fine, take your time and take naps and get your rest! Hugs, Kelly
