Having a weak moment or two

Lots of people on here get emotional and cry after surgery. It is totally normal to feel that way. Don't be hard on yourself about it. You have gone thru a lot in the past few days and your body is very hormonal right now!! EVERYONE gets buyer's remorse at some point. I sure did!! About 3 days after surgery, I thought WTF have I done to myself, but trust me, it will pass and you will be so happy with your decision!! when that scale starts going down and you look in the mirror and see a much much smaller happier person, you will look at this day and think, "WHY DID I EVER THINK THIS WAY!!!" If you need to cry, then do it. You deserve to feel the way you do right now. It will pass. Everyday will get better. Just take it one day at a time!!! Hugs, Kelly

    Protein bars

did you try googling it?? you can find just about anyithing on google!! kelly
  5. I would not advise it! My dr. says 6 months, but doesn't want us to drink at all! I am 3 months post-op and would not think of drinking a thing until after my 6months. Be careful whatever you decide. Kelly
  6. Good luck!! I am saving you a spot next to me on the loser's bench! Kelly
  7. I was sleeved at Kaiser Richmond, but wanted to put in my two cents. I orignially wanted to have the band too, but my surgeon told me NO WAY!! For the same reasons you listed. I am thrilled with my sleeve and am so glad after so much research that I did not have the band done!! I have read so much negative about it and lots of people on here have had revisions done!! If you are looking for proof if the sleeve works, just take a few minutes to look at everyone's ticker's!! The sleeve is awesome! It is truely the best gift I have ever given myself! Good luck to you! Kelly

    When oh when?????

I took my pills in the hospital the next morning after my surgery. My dr's rule was no bigger than an m&m. If it was smaller than that, I could swallow it. All my meds were, so I was good. I did chewable vitamins for 4 weeks and then was cleared for pills on those. Kelly

    Blood Pressure Meds

I was taken off my bp meds about a week after surgery. I had lost a lot of weight pre-op and had my meds lowered once. I became really dizzy a few days after surgery and went to see my PCP and he took me off my meds. My bp has been normal since!! Good luck to you! Kelly
  11. I think we get so hung up on the numbers of the scale because it is what is justifiable to us! When it is down a lb or two it means that we did something right, but when it isn't we think we did everything wrong! We don't understand that there ARE other ways to measure our success and that tape measure is the key!! Kelly

CONGRATS to you!!! I was sleeved May 9th and you and I have similiar starting weights. I am happy for you and keep rockin' that sleeve gurl!! Have fun on your trip! Kelly
  15. Great news about your mom!! CONGRATS!! My neighbor has had about 70% of her stomach removed because of cancer about 10 years ago and she is a TINY TINY woman. She eats like a bird and never gets fat!! I never even thought about this being kinda the same thing for us (minus the cancer)!! But, I guess it is! Kelly

    Is this too much water?

oh, i see you are pre-op!! i was going to say how on earth do you drink that post-op!!! i don't see any harm in it. i use to drink like a fish too post-op, now i find it hard to get in the 64oz required even tho i drink all damn day!! kelly
  17. My rules are to not drink with meals and to wait 30 minutes after meals to drink. I follow those rules and it is not hard once you get the hang of it. I started practicing a few months before surgery to make it easier. I have never drink with my meal. bit occasionally will take a sip after my bfast to take my Vitamin. Drinking too soon after eating washes the food thru quickly and can make you feel really uncomfortable becasue you don't have room for both! I pretty much drink normally now at 3 months out and have for about a month now. I can chug Water without it being an issue. So, you will be able to drink fast and large quanties again...don't worry! Kelly
  18. I had my orientation in October sometime, met my surgeon in November, and had my surgery May 9th. I did everything by the book and followed the rules, they were really slow to book my appointments and get me thru. I was fine with it because it gave me a chance to lose a BIG chunk of my weight pre-op and really work on myself and take in what I was doing and do ALOT of research!! I also had to do extra testing and meet with my surgeon a couple extra times that most don't have to do. That took a little extra time too. It usually doesn't take that long tho. You really are in control of your destination with them. If you want to do it in 3 months, you can if you are motivated. Good luck to you!! Kelly

    Potatos

I could have them at 4 weeks on soft foods, but they are discouraged because they are CARBY and slider foods. I have had a few bites of mashed potatoes and baked, but I really stay away from them. Kelly

    H.Pylori test required???

Did you have an upper endoscopy done?? If so, they should have taken a tissue sample of your stomach and tested it for the bacteria then. That is the most effective way to see if you are positive for it. I had the blood test done and it was negative. I had the tissue sample done and it was positive. WEIRD!! Kelly
  21. I only notice the smell thing with my pee. It is usually clear, but it really stinks to me. I usually only think it stinks when I eat aspargus, but I started noticing it was stinky abut 3 weeks out. I am 13 weeks out tomorrow. I also have the teenager acne breakouts around TOM. It is really annoying as I have NEVER had this problem!! I have started getting facials latley to help manage the breakouts. Kelly
  22. Last night I went to sleep and about 2 hours later, I woke up choking on acid and a burning throat!!! I have had reflux for 8 years and have NEVER had that happen. I got up and took a chug of Gaviscon and another Nexium and it stopped burning and I was able to go back to sleep. That was scary!! FOr the past 3 nights for dinner, I have had taco filling, I wonder if that is the reason for my suffering???? Anyone else have this? It was weird for me. Kelly
  23. I use ground turkey in my taco filling. 93/7. I also eat dinner around 6 and go to bed around 9, so there is a lot of time inbetween eating and laying down. I just think it was the spicyness of the food and salsa. It hasn't happened since, but I haven't eaten anything like that since. Thanks. Kelly
