I was 14 weeks out on Monday and i pretty much eat (ONE) of the following at one time: 1 scrambled egg-3/4 of egg if I put cheese on it. 1 1/2 boiled eggs 2-21/2 oz chicken, steak, porkchop, tri-tip, salmon, tuna 2 Foster Farms meatballs 2 slices Foster Farms lunchmeat w/ laughing cow cheese wedge spread on it rolled up 1 medium banana small apple Pure Protein bar 1-1 1/2 oz nuts or cheese I measure EVERYTHING and do not eat more than 2 1/2 oz of meat at a time. I usually can not finish it anyway. I also eat my protein first and then might have a bite or two of a veggie or fruit if I have room. No more than 1/2 c. of food at a time. Kelly

I have Kaiser Richmond as well and was told the same thing. I did drink some in the begining, but they make me gag. I believe they are not good because they just run right thru you. Liquids don't stay in your system for long. I would much rather eat my protein than drink it, I feel much more satisfied eating 2 oz of chicken, than drinking a protein shake. In the begining, you can not do this and need to have something to substitute tho. So, do what works best for you. Kelly

GOOD JOB!! and your hair looks great too!! Kelly -
I am one of the unlucky ones that have never lost the hunger issue. I never had "head hunger" and didn't eat just to eat, I was always hungry. My stomach growls all the time!! It is a lot better since switching from Nexium to Prilosec, but I still am hungry. Hope yours gets better! Kelly

AWWW Myori, I am sorry you are feeling poorly. I hope the chiropractor helps. Please don't feel so down on yourself. You have done great!! LOOK AT THAT TICKER!!! You should love your acomplishments and if people tell you that you look fab, you probably do!! I hate it when people say that they don't like or love themselves. That makes me sad. Don't get me wrong, I wish I looked better naked, but I look fantastic in my clothes!! AND am very happy with how far I have come!! Please don't be so down on yourself! Love yourself for how far you have come and your acomplishments. Everyone has something about themselves they don't like, try to focus on the good things that you do like. Hugs, Kelly

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it will go away one day. I HOPE!! It really is not skin, it is fat. I have seen people that have lost huge amounts of weight and they have just loose skin, mine is not like that, it is fat. I dont have a lot of it, but it is still there and I just wish it would go away!! As a point of reference, I just bought size 8 pants today and I wear a M top. I weigh 180 as of this morning (YAY) and have about 15lbs more to go. Maybe it will flatten out within that time!! I will keep working on it. HUGS!! Kelly

How Many Weeks Before Soft Food Stage?
kellyw74 replied to Tarada9's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My plan went like this: 3 days clears, 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks purees, 4 weeks soft foods, then regular modified diet. Kelly -
I emailed my PCP and told him I was still interested and he sent the referral to bariatrics. The bariatric dept called me in 3 days. KElly

Girls weekend wine !?
kellyw74 replied to kayseegee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't at 3 weeks. It takes 4-6 for your stomach to heal. Not a good idea! Kelly -
Sounds like you are doing AWESOME!! Good job on training for the walk. That is a great acomplishment. Keep us updated on how it goes! Kelly

A question for those who lost 100+ pounds
kellyw74 replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow your plan. Whatever your dr. advises you to do is what you should do! I see that you said you have not started your pre-op diet yet. Can I advise you to start a.s.a.p?? The more you lose pre-op, the easier it will be on you post-op. Not only for healing, but you will also just be that closer to goal and possibly avoid complications! I lost 55lbs pre-op and my recovery was a BREEZE!! Good luck to you! Kelly -
YUMMY finds...thought I'd share
kellyw74 replied to SeattleSue's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I LOVE the chicken burgers and have been eating them for years!! I love them for my sleeve they have so many grams of protein and are so moist and easy. Kinda big tho!! Can't eat a whole one, but just cut in half and have the rest later! Kelly -
I agree with the other's about you not eating enough!! In the first month or so, I was only getting about 500 calories a day, but I was exercising 45 minutes a day and burning alot of that. I was so disappointed when I would not lose each week when I would work so hard during the week eating right and exercing. Someone posted to me the exact thing about eating enough. Seems kinda silly to eat more, but you really have to or your body will think it is starving. I try to get 700-800 most days and when I exercise, I go up to about 1000. I lose faithfully every week now!! Good luck! Kelly

Failing in the protein department
kellyw74 replied to wondering1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should focus on staying hydrated for now and NOT PROTEIN!!! You should not even be concerned about Protein until you get to solid food about week 4. Kelly -

Help me Decide- RNY or VSG??
kellyw74 replied to A New Day's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can only speak from my own experience but I will tell you what I think!! I chose VSG for these reasons. I too, like many lost and regained MANY times!! I needed something that would help me stop that cycle!! I have a huge problem with portion control and the sleeve DEFINATLY controls that for me! I CAN NOT physically eat more than 2 oz of ANYTHING at a time. How can I possibly get fat or stay fat on that??? I didn't always eat bad stuff, just too much of anything at one time will make you gain weight. I could eat 10oz of chicken and a salad and a baked potatoe. That would kill me now!! If I want a cookie, I can have one and I will not get fat on one, but I can not eat 10 like before! I could eat a piece of pizza (although I choose not to) and only have one and know I will not gain, but before I would eat 4-5 pieces. I do not eat rice, Pasta, bread, or any complex carbs at all. My carbs are from veggies and fruit. I might, one day eat them again, but for now, at 3 months out, I want to take full advantage of my losing stage! The sleeve works if you work it. I did not want my guts re-routed and did not want to be sick if I chose to eat a cookie or something fried! I love my sleeve and would do it again tomorrow if I had to! Good luck to you in whatever decision you choose! Kelly -
My copay for the surgery was $25. I had several labs and test and meds after surgery probably about $75 all together. It all depends on your plan and what it pays. I have a friend that had the surgery done and her co-pay was $400 for the surgery. Look at your benefits and see what your copay is. Kelly

Yes, I do track my Protein. I use myfitnesspal.com and I usually get about 65-90gr of protein a day now that I am over 3 months out. Kelly

Stupid Hunger Question
kellyw74 replied to Indymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry, but on liquids and not getting anything solid of course I felt hungry. Liquids run straight thru and don't stay with us long! Kelly -
If you are not losing, up your calories for a few days. That will get your body to not hold on to everything you are giving it because it wont think it is starving with the extra calories. I have to up my calories on the days I exercise or I will not lose. Seems kinda crazy to exercise just to eat more!!! Weird, but very true!! Kelly

Started process for Lap Band but want to switch to VSG
kellyw74 replied to kamrie37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I orignially wanted to have the band, but my surgeon said "NO WAY"" he hates the band and will not do them. too many complications and needs for revisions. He told me about VSG and told me to research it. I did for a few months and I am so happy I chose to have this procedure. I love my sleeve!! Kelly
