Typical day, typical foods
kellyw74 replied to Penpen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hamburger and pot roast were very easy for me to eat when i was able to eat meat at 4 weeks out. steak sat a little heavy until about week 7. i had no restrictions on anything at each food stage, it was as tolerated. kelly -
Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
kellyw74 replied to Vampyrvet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YUP! I was also told no raw celery or coconut EVER!!! But, not pumpkin seeds. I eat them all of the time. I was not supposed to have seeds/nuts for 3 months tho. Maybe that is why. Kelly -
So, any "post partum" for those who've reached goal?
kellyw74 replied to Rootman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I too often wonder what happens when you get there?? I am soooo close to my goal as well and it scares me! I don't know how to maintain and I am worried that something BAD will happen!!! I have lost huge amounts of weight before, but never have got to my goal weight and therefore, have never had to maintiain my weight. I DON"T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT!! So, I guess I will be thinking about how to do it! My weight has always been an issue since I was 9 and I don't know that I will ever stop thinking about it! Kelly -
I was not allowed salad until 4 months post op. I think I started eating most fruit about month 3, but no skins. Kelly

What are you drinking your water out of???
kellyw74 replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been drinking with a straw since week 4, not a big deal!! I have one of those BIG hard, plastic starbucks cups with a lid and straw. I keep er' filled with ice, Water and Mio!! Hope this helps! Kelly -
I used PB2 on full liquids and it was fine. I now use Simply Jif. It has less sodium and sugar. Kelly

Good job!! You look AWESOME!! Kelly

Those gas pains are NO JOKE!! That was the only pain I had and it lasted for about 3-4 days. Glad you are doing well!! Kelly

It took me about 2 1/2 months or so to even get up to 500 calories a day. Just do your best and focus on staying hydrated, that is the most important. I am 4 months out now and most days, still only get 700-900 calories. It is hard to eat that much. You will be fine. Kelly

Typical day, typical foods
kellyw74 replied to Penpen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 5/9/11 I usually eat what is handy for Breakfast and lunch and make something different for dinner. I measure all my food and at this point (4 months), I can not eat any more than 2 oz of Protein at a time. I rarely have room for anything else either. I usually eat foster farms meatballs, grilled chicken, tri-tip, pot roast, scrambled egg, tuna or chicken salad, costco chicken burger, roast beef, pork chop, grilled ribeye. i have 2 oz of this for b-fast and lunch most days. For my Snacks, I usually have peanuts, cheese, pure Protein Bars, beef Jerky, more protein, banana or watermelon. I also do not eat bread, rice, Pasta, etc. I occasionally will have a BITE of my husbands baked potatoe, but really don't even like it anymore. Hope this helps! Kelly -

AWESOME!! Congrats!! Kelly -
You will be just fine. We will all be just fine! They have been doing this for years, just realized recently that it works for overweight people too!!. My neighbor, God bless her little self, had most of her stomach removed 14 years ago because of cancer and is still kickin'!! She is the tiniest little thing, but she is still alive! I didn't even think about this being the same thing until someone else posted this subject a few months ago and I thought, hmmmmm, I guess I will remain thin!! Don't worry your head about it!! Kelly

You know you lost weight when

When a regular sized bath towel wraps around you WITHOUT any gaps! That has to be the best feeling. I realized this last night when I got out of the shower. I even wrapped it past the gap about 7 or 8 inches. HOW FREAKING AMAZING!!! Kelly :) :) -
wow! i really should pay more attention!!.

kellyw74 replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does it sound like a kitchen sink draining??? I call it my gurgles!! I do it too! It is SOOOO annoying! I am 4 months out as of yesterday and it seems to not be AS bad, but it still does it. Kelly -
What is your favorite Crock Pot Recipe?
kellyw74 replied to Brandi Lewis's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
any red meat steak or roast with some onion and garlic is good. just add a little water and set on med for 5-6 hours. i put it on before i go to work and when i get home it is done!! so tender and juicy makes great left overs whole chicken and turkey breast is good too. just do the same as above minus the onion. DELISH. can pick it off the bone and have pleanty of moist ready-to-go protein! Kelly -
Almost 3 months out and nausea
kellyw74 replied to mjs6172's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry you are feeling so awful! I have read on here that lots of people have this issue and it is probably something that you ate that your sleeve did not like. They say you should go on liquids for a day and give your sleeve a rest. Give it time to calm down. If you have broth, drink that, Unjuy chicken soup would be nice. Just do clears for a day and see how you feel. Then slowly introduce stuff again. Just like we did in the begining. Good luck on feeling better! Kelly -
Does Doubt really mean Don't?
kellyw74 replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, I am a firm believer in fate!! I believe if it is my time to go, I will go. No matter what I am doing, I will go! So, if you are meant to go, you will. Having surgery or getting hit by a bus. I know that may sound mean, but that is the way it is! Everyone has this fear about this surgery. You just have to overcome it. I was scared too, but then when I got my surgery date and it was TOTALLY real to me, I felt really calm and at peace about it. I remember I had a two hour drive home from my office visit that day and I thought to myself, "Self, is this really what you want to do???" Becasue it is sooo friggen real now! I felt good about my decision and wasn't scared anymore. I prayed and prayed that everything would work out and it did. I had lost 100lbs 3 different times on my own, only to gain it all back. I knew this was the gift that God wanted for me. I wasn't scared any more. Even the day of my surgery, I never got gittery or nervous. I knew I was in good hands, not only my surgeon, but God's hands. You will be too! Kelly -
You need to call that dr. and ask to be seen before the time expires. Tell them it is urgent and that if you are not seen what will happen. That you will have to start all over again! Most people WILL make exceptions. Please don't give up on yourself. You are worth it! FIGHT!! Kelly

I am 4 months out today and most days I feel pretty good, but by Friday, I am beat! I have anemia and take lots of iron, so I think that helps me to feel good most of the time. I get up everyday during the week at 5am to go to work and get home at 5pm. After I cook dinner and exercise, I am pretty ready for bed, but not exhausted. Friday's, I can't hardly keep my eyes open after 8pm. LOL Kelly

At this stage, I would say 1/4 c. that is what I ate at that stage. Then about 12 weeks you should move up to 1/2 c. Eat as little as you can, for as long as you can! I truely under eat my sleeve at this point. And who is your dr. that he is not educating his patients on how to eat after surgery?/??? GEESH! Kelly
