Day 5 of Preop Liquid Diet (Question!)
armywife1129 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I started my preop on Thursday. Its been rough but nothing im going to roll over & die because of. I posted a few days ago when i was on day 1 or 2 and i was extreemly weak and tired, i was even starting to look pale (other family members noticed) i have dropped 7 lbs in the last 4 days which i havent weighed myself yet today. I still have another 10 days to go before surgery & im super nervous. My diet is strictly liquids the last 3 days ive been having a hard boiled egg (WHITES ONLY) because I feel like im loosing all energy & strength & i have a hyperactive 3 year old so I dont have room to be burnt out & tired with no energy. Is this bad that ive been having egg whites daily for the past 3 days. I eat one in the morning and one in the evenings. I dont want it to affect my liver shrinking yet i dont understand why some doctors required the 2 week preop and some dont when everyone wants there liver shrunk, so my question is, is having an egg white in the morning and evening of a 2 week preliquid diet going to affect my liver shrinkage? today i have not have egg whites and i dont feel like i had much energy as i did yesterday, im hoping today ill go without them even if it makes me tired all day. -
Day 5 of Preop Liquid Diet (Question!)
armywife1129 replied to armywife1129's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the reply, i figured an egg a day wouldnt hurt compared to others not having to do the diet at all. I know after the surgery I definately will not eat because I want to heal correctly, right now I just feel the need of energy, I have a full support system with my family that will be taking my son daily to school and picking him up for the week or two after surgery so i will be okay feeling loss of energy since Ill have alot more help after. My husbands deployed to Afghanistan right now, we are stationed in Germany. Ill inbox you maybe we can keep in touch. =D -
So today i started my 2 week preop diet. I feel so discouraged as if i cant do this, Im very very weak since ive had nothing to eat today, the protein shakes are AWFUL! i already almost threw up twice just from tasting them. the protein bars on the other hand are delicious and i enjoy them. My doctors diet for me consists of 1 protein shake for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a protein bar inbetween meals only 2 a day though. Sugar free jello, broth, propel drinks, crystal light drinks, and carrots, cucumbers, and lettuce. What i was afraid of at the beginning was the starvation feeling, and thats how im feeling right now. I wish there was something else that was "enjoyable" to eat. I know this sounds like a vent, but its my first day on this diet and mind you i havent dieted in a while and it was nothing compared to this. I know a few other people who live around me who have been banded and there diet wasnt half as strict. anyone else have other things allowed? I really want the strength, courage and determination to continue on with this i just feel discouraged at the moment. Thanks for listening. =D

Well the problem with changing the shakes is that my doctors office required us to buy THEIR product of shakes and protein bars, it was close to 500 dollars for 6 weeks supply. So i dont want to change them now, because i paid for them already, the protein bars on the other hand are delicious i wish i didnt even have to drink the shakes and just live off the bars id be totally fine, but since i only get 2 bars a day it sucks. Im going to call his office today and ask if theres anything I can add to my diet that requires something other than shakes. Maybe some fruit, an egg, anything with protein.

Thank you for all the support it has really helped. Last night before bed I was extreemly weak and shakey i felt like i had no energy what so ever. Does anyone know if I can have an egg? im going to call my dr today and ask if theres anything else I can consume that has food like, ive been munching on carrots and cucumbers but im no fan of vegatables so thats been pretty hard as well. I think i did well for my first day even though im struggling right now nobody ever said it was going to be easy. but I see alot of other people who are allowed like some meat, some other kinds of food that are actually food and not just the shakes.

Tomorrow is the FIRST day of my PRE-Op diet. Im extremly nervous yet excited at the same time, Im sure those feelings are normal. My surgery is on the 7th which is 15 days from now, I really feel like tomorrow is the first day of the NEW me, even though its not the actual surgery thats tomorrow I still feel like starting my protien diet tomorrow that by the way requires no food is the beginning of all these changes that ill be going through. Anyone have any tips on Pre-Op dieting? id love them.

I have Tricare Prime, I had to pay $480 out of pocket for the protien stuff that i needed to eat and take, and for some multivitamins ect. I know a few people in my area who didnt have to pay anything but I liked the office i was going to and felt that it was a good place that i was comfortable with so i decided to pay it, Hey Tricare pays every dollar of my surgery and out of the entire seminar group of about 15 people I was the only person who had 100 percent coverage for the surgery no copays no nothing, so i felt that the 480 for my nutrition presurgery & a few weeks after surgery was worth it.

Hello Everyone, Im new here, i have been procrastinating the lapband & bypass for some time now, i have decided on the band as my best choice for my life. I do want to loose about 110 lbs though so im hoping I can reach that goal with the band. I did have a few questions if anyones able to answer my question id greatly appreciate it. I just found out that my liver and spleen are slightly enlarged, did anyone have this problem? my surgery is scheduled for April 7th, do you happen to know from experience or other storys if i will still be able to have my surgery on time. I will be doing the 2 week pre diet starting next week, which im going to start today just so that i can help my liver shrink. Im worried my surgery will be postponed ive waited along time for this & just want to hurry and start the new life ive always wanted. Ill tell a bit about myself since im new. Im 21 im currently 130 lbs over my ideal weight that i SHOULD weigh according to the statistics, im married to a soldier whose deployed right now & i just want to start the lapband so i can look & feel great when he comes home from his 12 month tour. I have a 3 year old son who i just want to be able to do more activities with that im limited to do because of my weight. Im very excited yet nervous to do this and would accept any words of encouragment, advice or anything else anyone would like to tell me about there experience or about people they know who have gone through this. By the way, thank you for taking the time to read my post.
