  1. I am 5 weeks out and the last few days I have been throwing up after 4-5 bites of any type of chewed foods. I went back to Soups but cant really eat much. I had some crunchy Peanut Butter last week and I am wondering if I have some blockage. I can't even really drink much of my Protein shake. I have only really been able to drink Water. I called my doctor and he is ordering an upper GI X-Ray. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any home remedies? Thanks in Advance, Mo
  2. Thanks and I wouldn't mind staying at 233. A co-worker of mine had bypass and he has lost so much weight that he looks really sick. I don't want to go that route and I try to each as much as possible. That is one thing that worries me because I don't want to get that skinny. Congrats to all of you and this surgery does have it's challenges but the results are worth it.

    Throwing up..help?

I am glad too! I think I had crunchy peanut butter a few days in a row last week that kind of triggered it. I also started drinking hot tea and it has seemed to help.

    Throwing up..help?

I had my X-ray yesterday and it was all clear. I was able to see that I do have reflux during the X-ray. After seeing that it was all clear I went back to eating again with confidence but much slower now. It sucks eating slow but the throwing up is a lot worse. I am down 41 pounds over five weeks so it's really hard to complain. I miss eating regular food but it feels good to be down! What were you guys eating after your 5th week? I want to try some new things and look forward to hearing any and all suggestions. Can we eat Peanut Butter?

    Throwing up..help?

@Texas Teacher - So what happened? I am going to try to have some tea now. I have lost close to 40 pounds in the last five weeks. It seems both of you have had your sleeves done for some time. Are you both able to eat any normal food now?

    4 weeks today post op!

Funny thing is that I went from drinking a lot of coffee with snacks at work to none cold turkey. I also need to start drinking more water because I am not getting enough in. I have cheated once with a milkshake from jack in the box but could only have about half of it.
  8. Just wanted to tell everyone I am 4 weeks post op and I am feeling great. I still feel hungry at times and get jealous that I can't eat certain things that I see my friends eating. I know soon I will but wonder when? I have only thrown up once and I think it was because I didn't wait long enough between meals. It seems like I am learning when I am full now. As soon as I feel it I just stop eating. I am drinking Protein but don't feel like I am getting enough. I hope to see my doctor in the next few weeks so he can say my stomach is good to go. The good news is that when I went for my sugary I was 292 and today I weighed in at 257. I absoulety feel great and happy my doctor convinced me to get the sleeve over the lap band. Thanks for all the information on this site and support. I am still sticking to mushies to be on the safe side and actually had 1 glass of wine and an amstel light last Saturday. I was only able to drink half of the beer which was funny. It takes a little used to getting familiar with your new body but the compliments from friends are well worth it. Best regards to all, Mo
  9. I have noticed since my surgery that my mouth is always dry, bad breathe and now my wife noticed. I read it is because I am in Ketosis but is there any remedy. I know I probably am not drinking enough Water either. I can only get about 1 liter a day. I am down 21 pounds since my surgery date of 02-15-11. Any suggestions would be great because I like being around people but not if I have bad breathe. Thanks
  10. So I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and have been cleared by my doctor for mushies. What all do you folks consider mushies? I am about 30 pounds down but I feel like I am not eating enough food. Please help with your suggestions for mushies. Thanks in Advance, Mo

    Sushi?

I just want a little bit of sushi. I am 3 weeks out and I am wondering if it will be okay?
  12. I had my surgery 2-15 and eat yogurt, popsicles, protein shakes (muscle milk), and a lot of soups. I just eat the broth but have had clam chowder, brocolli cheese from togos and I am having hot and sour soup from a chinese restaurant now. I lost 18 pounds thus far and I am feeling pretty good. I am not starving either but can't wait to eat more normal food soon. Good luck and hang in there.

WTF did I do to myself?

I had my surgery last Tuesday and was wondering the same thing. One week later and I was down 20 pounds! I think what made me the most uncomfortable was the pain medication. It made me feel sick and I really wasn't in any pain but sore from the surgery. I haven't taken any pain medication at all since day one of my surgery. Like someone else mentioned walk around and hopefully you will realize it's just soreness. Now it is getting tough to just eat soups, yogurts and things like that but I know these weeks will pass soon. I want to eat proteins.
  14. Yesterday was probably the toughest day since we went out of the house to an outdoor mall. I could smell all the foods and think about al the food I used to eat. I also was reminded that those habits are what got me to 289. I am 5 days out from surgery and had strained clam chowder from one of the restaurants. My wife laughed and said we are going to save a lot of money since I don't drink or eat all crazy anymore. Five days after surgery my digestive system is working fine, I can take liquids down a lot better, I am still slightly sore around my stomach and I was pleasantly surprised to be down 17 pounds! I haven't taken any pain medication since the first day of surgery either! I am starting to believe the first day of hell is going to be worth it. Is it to early to start working out in the gym or getting on the elliptical?
  15. So I have looked at other forums and feel this is probably the best place for me to tell my story. I have told some of my friends but haven't really gone public per se. So here is my story and my journey. I hope you girls and guys can respect my journey. I have always been the overweight kid that was buying husky pants in the 5th grade. I played all sports and was even an allstar football player in high school. I was always able to carry my weight well but still never felt 100% comfortable without a shirt on. I work in corrections and thats where I have packed on the weight. I went from weighing around 235 in the academy to 290 most recently. In 2009, I got on track and started losing weight with help from an awesome trainer and just staying physically active. Unfortunately during a thanksgiving turkey-bowl I tore my ACL/MCL. This was huge because I regained all of my weight loss and then some. I started feeling depressed because I worked pretty hard and then was hit with this. In the same time I was injured a friend of mine had the lap band procedure done. So for a whole year I thought I would give a lap band a shot but never really pursued with my doctor. Fast Forward to November 2010, on a disneyland trip with my wife and 3 girls I returned home exhausted. I was so sore from carrying my daughters that I went to the doctor because i thought I was having chest pains. I also explained to him that I wanted to look into the band since I was tired of being obese. He referred me to Doctor Wetter in Burlingame, ca. Prior to seeing doctor Wetter I saw all the Psych and nutritionist so when I saw my surgeon I would be ready to go. After a few consultations Doctor Wetter said the Sleeve would be a better choice for me and he thought it would eventually eliminate all other procedures for weight loss in the future. I did a little research and was sold on the sleeve. I wanted permanent weight loss and a surgery date was set for 02-15-11. Leading up to my surgery was very stressful and I have always enjoyed food. I also had a lot of head games going on like did I need this or why was I doing this. After a few years with border line chest pains and 3 daughters under the age of 6 I knew that I owed it to them to be around for a long time. I had a lot of anxiety and I didn't have to lose weight for my surgery and treated every meal as my last. I ballooned all the way to 297 pounds. The day of the surgery came and I went in at 287.7 pounds. The surgery day was very stressful to me because I was just getting over a cold and my blood pressure was pretty high the day of my surgery. I took it in stride and Doctor Wetter had me back in my room in a few hours. These next 2 days were the hardest in my life. The gas from the surgery and my high blood pressure made me miserable. I expected to be out of the hospital the next day but due to the high blood pressure could not be released from the hospital. I never slept so much and after the first day I realized the pain medication was even making me more nauseated. I decided to stop taking the pain meds and started feeling better and sleeping better. I was crying in the hospital bed because I thought I made the biggest mistake in my life. I missed my wife and kids and was still hopeful that things could work out. I went in on Tuesday and finally came home Thursday night! To date I still have not even taken any pain medication for my surgery. I am a little sore around my stomach but expected that. As of Saturday, 02-19-11, four days post-op I am currently down 12 pounds and I am feeling great. I cant weight to be able to get to stage 3 where I can eat more then liquids. I have been following diet and haven't really been starving at all. It feels good to stand on the scale and see the pounds coming off. After all the pain, I feel I made the right choice and look forward to sharing my progress with everyone. My goal is to get around 200-215 and with work I am sure I can get there. Thanks for taking the time to read my story and thanks for the support. I plan to start a youtube page because I used youtube a lot to research my journey. It's just tough right now to be public but I plan to soon. Here is a photo I took the day of my surgery. Have a great weekend and good luck with your journeys! Much respect to all of you willing to share your journey, Mo aka Papi Chulo on the comeback trail.
  16. Thanks for all the support and I weighed in 17 pounds down today! I am currently 272 and I think I will break into the 260's this week. Fingers crossed!
  17. Thanks guys and I am looking forward to the challenge. I really want to break the cycle of obesity and know that I can. It's really nice to see all people here have common goals and to learn from others mistakes. Good luck with both of your journeys!
