Me Toitle is moving along !
lifechange531 replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on ur weight loss! And thanks for teaching me how to spell toitle. I always wondered how that was spelled and now I know! -
Before I was banded I ate fast food for lunch every day. Since I have been banded it has been easy to pack my shakes during the liquid phase, and some cottage cheese and apple sauce and yogurt for lunch during the mushy stage. I'm now moving on to solids and I am at a loss what to pack for lunch. I want something with some substance to it, but I cannot stand tuna, and microwaved or cold chicken appear not to be a bandsters friend. I just need some ideas so I don't have to eat the exact same thing every stinkin day for lunch forever because I can't think of something to bring that is easy to just grab out of the fridge and go. Thank you so much in advance for your suggestions.

My new fav thing to do is mix 1/2 a packet of starbucks Carmel via instant coffee with my vanilla protein shake in ice in my magic bullet. Voila vanilla caramel frappachino with only 40 more calories than your regular protein shake.

I lack hunger and I'm almost a month out. I struggle to get calories in but I'm still in the mushy stage so my choices r limited. I could easily meet my caloric goal if I ate crap but I refuse to do that.

Road Trip!! what am I going to eat??
lifechange531 replied to imagine923's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Taco bell's pintos and cheese with some sour cream! Kfc's mashed potatoes would work in a pinch and look at their grilled chicken. I'm still in mushy phase so these suggestions may not work for u. -
Love Dr Kim! His staff is great and they only want the best for you and to see you succeed. I think Kris and I were banded on the same day lol. Good luck deciding on your doctor.

Medication Question
lifechange531 replied to lizzy2150's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon and he said as long as my pill was smaller than an M&M I would be ok. I have had no issues with my meds. -
EX SMOKER CRAVING TO SMOKE AGAIN AFTER SURGERY
lifechange531 replied to MelissaWI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went thru this a few days after surgery. I think it's the not having either one of your comforts giving up food and cigs is rough. You need to find something to distract yourself from the cravings try sipping water when u want a smoke or if you can have it a sugar free Popsicle that may give you the hand to mouth action. I craved the act more than the smoke so suckers were my saving grace before surgery. Be strong all of this is worth it for a healthier you. -

When will the swelling go away?
lifechange531 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the 31st of May and between the pre and post op diet I've lost nearly 15lbs (woohoo!) but at the moment I'm still not fitting into my pants because my stomach is still so swollen and bloated. It's just from the surgery cause the day before surgery they fit fine. But how much longer before this swelling and bloating subsides? -
Congratulations! Way to go!!!!

My stomach will not quit rumbling. I was banded a week ago tomorrow and I don't know if this is normal it's like my head isn't hungry but my stomach is yelling at me to feed it. I'm getting all my protein in and sipping water constantly but the rumbling is incessant. I have not had a bite of real food in 3 weeks since I started the pre op diet. I'm doing good till the rumbling starts then it's painful. Help please. I just want it to stop.

Having a hard time with the pre-op diet
lifechange531 replied to kat09's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Drink lots and lots and lots of Water. Whenever you feel hungry drink water. Keep ice water with you at all times. My big time to eat was in the car I have found that it's easier to get through my cravings as long as I have something around to drink. Keep yourself distracted. I have found myself watching less and less tv over the last two weeks be cause I get bored when I get bored I want to eat. Go for a walk read a book do anything but open the fridge. Also put yourself on a schedule for your shakes. I have my shakes at 8:30 11:00 3:30 and 7:00. this is what works for my schedule. If you know you are not going to be home when one of your shakes is due grab the stuff to make it on the go. I have found that the travel containers for baby formula work very well for Protein powder and that there is nothing on earth that can beat a Blender Bottle for on the go shakes. I have done very very well using this I am on day 11 and I haven't cheated. Have I been tempted? YES Have I wanted to cheat? YES but I know that if I cannot follow this diet now I will not be able to follow the rest of the changes that have to come after the band. You can do this it's mind over matter at this point. You can! You can! You can! -
Lap Band & Anti-Depressants?
lifechange531 replied to kerryon1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there I am also bipolar and will be banded on Tuesday. My dr told me that the band was the best WLS for bipolar patients because it did not interrupt their medicine except for the day of surgery for the most part. I showed him my polls and he said there would be no prob with me getting them down. Good luck to you and keep us posted! -
College - More of a plus size Q than lap band Q.
lifechange531 replied to MegaLoud's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Breathe it's going to be ok. My college is a fairly new modern building and they have individual chairs at long tables so maybe that is what your college has. I also went back to college a year ago I don't know how old you are but I'm 33 and usually in the middle of the age range for my classes. I've noticed that most older college folks take evening classes so that may be something you want to look at. I would definitely scout out some of the classrooms before hand. Good luck you have a life changing time ahead of you!!! -
Should I start over?
lifechange531 replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with Russian Bandit! It sounds like you aren't happy with this surgeon, and I wouldn't be either with the lack of responses they have given you. It sounds like they don't treat you like an individual just another case number and everyone is cookie cutter surgery there, and it sounds like they want way more tests than are absolutely necessary. I would do exactly what Bandit said and go to their office and demand a copy of your file if you have to. You do not and should not put up with a Dr's office that doesn't make you feel like you matter to them. -

Pre op diet day 7....help!
lifechange531 replied to enchilada72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Come on enchilada you can do this! Try a cup of coffee to get rid of your headache. Use splenda or truvia to sweeten it If that doesn't work or u don't like coffee excedrin migraine will it has caffiene in it. I just finished day 8 of my diet. I get banded the day before you. To be successful we have to give some things up. I miss my coke zeros badly but I know giving them up is the best for me and my health. You can do this mind over matter at this point think positive! -
How many visits with Doc. before surgery
lifechange531 replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only had one face to face meeting with my Dr., other than the seminar, and my surgery is the 31. Sometimes I kinda feel like I'm missing out on something since I'm a self pay. It seems most with insurance have to go through so much just to get to surgery they become better acquainted with the Dr's and staff that they are working with. To me it seems self pays show up pay their money and the doc says see ya on surgery day. If you are insurance I apologize, this is just my experience. -

1-Week Away from Surgery and got the dreaded call!!!!
lifechange531 replied to Jonna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart! Keep your spirits up and you have the right attitude! God has a plan and maybe this surgeon wasn't in His plan. Here is a web site to locate a center of excellence. http://www.surgicalreview.org/locate.aspx I will be praying for a good outcome for you. -
While right now I'm on the pre op clear liquids and shakes diet I like to think ahead. So I was wondering what kind of food scales do you have and where did you get them. Also what do you use to measure your portion sizes especially when cooking for a family of 4 knowing nobody in the house will eat as little ad you. Thanks in advance.
